FORECAST OPEN

NEW! Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

After a four-day stretch without temperatures reaching the 70s, we finally ended up back there this afternoon with most of Southwest Florida warming into the low 70s.

We've got another cool night on the way but not as chilly as last night; lows will end up in the mid 50s along the coast and perhaps a few upper 40s deep inland.

We add to the warmth Sunday as temperatures climb back into the 70s, and some of our inland areas may even manage to reach the upper 70s. Coastal regions will stay cooler thanks to a chilly wind off the Gulf of Mexico, which will keep highs at the beaches around the low 70s.

The warming trend rolls along into the upcoming week until the next cold front arrives Wednesday. Before this next batch of chilly weather moves in, though, daytime temperatures will approach 80 degrees Monday afternoon and mid to upper 70s on Tuesday.

The cool air starts trickling in Wednesday, and we'll even see the opportunity for a few showers Wednesday as the front sags south down the Florida peninsula.

Forecast models are a bit at odds beyond Wednesday, but one possible scenario is for a cold Thursday with morning temperatures as low as the 30s and 40s and afternoon highs only in the 60s.

We'll need to keep monitoring the potential for this next blast of cold air for the middle of next week, so keep checking your First Alert Forecast on nbc-2.com.:
