5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"A warm start to the week"

Despite the cloudiness yesterday, temperatures still managed to work their way into the middle 70s across Southwest Florida. The warming trend continues as we start the new week with afternoon highs closing in on 80°. We'll be tracking our next chance for rain associated with another weather system, followed by a very brief cool down.

Our morning will start off with a few clouds and milder weather. Patchy fog will also be possible across our inland communities. As you head out the door, only a light jacket will be needed as temperatures will hover in the upper 50s to 60°. Once some of that patchy fog fades, we'll see a bit more sunshine compared to our Sunday. During the afternoon, expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs near 80° in town. Readings will be a few degrees cooler at our beaches and coastal locations as winds come in off the chilly gulf waters.

Tonight, a few clouds will remain in the forecast along with overnight lows dipping into the 60s. Areas of patchy fog will be possible by sunrise tomorrow especially east of I-75.

Our weather pattern will stay fairly dry through Tuesday with partly sunny skies. Afternoon highs will continue to climb into the upper 70s. This warm up is ahead of another weather system that will not only bring the chance for rain late Wednesday and into Thursday, but also a brief cool down by late in in the week. Now that models are coming into better agreement, the core of the cold air looks to stay well to the north of the area. By Thursday, morning lows will only bottom out in the upper 40s to lower 50s, with highs in the upper 60s. A gradual warm up will commence on Friday with highs on track to reach the lower 80s by the weekend. Return to index of stories...

5:32 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL
