FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Warming trend continues"

It was a warm start to the week as many spots across Southwest Florida topped out in the upper 70s to lower 80s. The warm weather will return once again for Tuesday, before another weather system increases our rain prospects. We'll also be tracking another cool down for the second half of the week.

Due to clear skies, high humidity, and calm winds the main concern for this morning will be areas of dense fog with visibilities reduced to 1/4 of a mile or less. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 9am. Otherwise, it will be a mild start to our Tuesday with temperatures hovering in the lower 60s. Once the low clouds and fog fade, mostly to partly sunny skies will take us into the late morning and early afternoon hours. Daytime highs will also be warmer than average as they climb into the lower half of the 80s, especially away from the coast. With an onshore wind coming off the 60° waters of the Gulf of Mexico, expect our beaches and coastal locations to run a few degrees cooler.

Clouds will be patchy as we head into the overnight period and temperatures will hover in the lower 60s.

Clouds will be on the increase as we head into Wednesday ahead of a cold front currently located across the northern half of the peninsula. This system will slowly make its way southward, with scattered showers developing late Wednesday evening and into early Thursday morning. Temperatures will dip into the upper 40s to lower 50s and once the rain exits, clouds should stay pretty thick overhead during the day. This along with a breezy northerly wind will keep our afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s.

High pressure will build in for the latter half of the week with a dry and mostly sunny pattern. This cool down will be very brief in nature, as winds take a turn to the east with highs in the 80s for the weekend. Return to index of stories...

They made the touchdown and all of a security turned to look and I just jumped over the wall. Once I hit the ground I knew I wasn't going to stop so I just kept running.

NETWORK CAMERAS TURNED AWAY FROM IT AS IS USUALLY THE CASE.

THOSE IN THE STANDS CAUGHT IT WITH THEIR CELL PHONE CAMERAS. BUT THE FEW SECONDS TORRES GOT ON NATIONAL TV MEANT THE WORLD TO HER COUSIN GARY, WHO WAS WATCHING IN NEW MEXICO.

He can't talk but he was just smiling and just fist pumping, they said 'as soon as we saw you jump his face just lit up and he was just fist pumping and so that made so worth it for me.

GARY GOT IN A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT TWO YEARS AGO AND IS NOW PARALYZED AND CAN'T TALK. HE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO THE PRO BOWL AND WAS SUPPOSED TO GO THIS YEAR BUT IT WAS TOO DIFFICULT. SO TORRES, A NEW MEXICO NATIVE WHO MOVED HERE FIVE YEARS AGO, PROMISED HIM THAT SHE WOULD RUN ACROSS THE FIELD FOR HIM. SHE EVEN HAD THE PHRASE "I DID IT FOR GARY" WRITTEN ON HER BACK.

I just wanted to keep my promise you know, stay true to my word. I told my mom, I told my auntie, my grandma I was like 'ok I'm gonna do this you guys might have to bail me out' and they were so for it.

AS IT TURNS OUT NO ONE HAD TO BAIL HER OUT. AFTER SECURITY GUARDS CAUGHT HER, TEAM CAPTAIN DEION SANDERS HEARD HER STORY AND CAME TO THE RESCUE.

Deione Sanders comes running behind us like 'hey don't arrest her that was really cool' just don't arrest her. If you arrest here I'm gonna bail her right out.

WEATHER-WX WALL

HEALTH MATTERS (hypertension)-ON CAM

ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS PARTS OF HYPERTENSION IS THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW THAT YOU HAVE IT.

NEARLY ONE-THIRD OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE DON'T KNOW IT.

THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW IF YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE IS HIGH IS THROUGH REGULAR CHECKUPS.

AMY OSHIER EXPLAINS THE FRONT-LINE OF DEFENSE. Return to index of stories...

THAT'S USUALLY THE WAY IT GOES WITH HYPERTENSION.

DR. GARY GOFORTH/FAMILY PRACTICE

:38 Hypertension is often known as the 'silent killer' because most patients have no

symptoms at all.

DISCOVERED THROUGH REGULAR MEDICAL CHECKUPS, FAMILY DOCTORS

ARE OFTEN THE FRONT LINE IN COMBATTING THE CONDITION.

DR. GARY GOFORTH/FAMILY PRACTICE

RUNS:

:12 Primary care physicians are typically the ones that would diagnose and treat

most cases of hypertension. Only in the unusual cases where you have very severe

hypertension, would they go to cardiologist.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

Blood pressure refers to the force that blood pushes against the walls of arteries as the

heart pumps. The two-number reading reflects when your heart is contracting and then

between beats. A high blood pressure reading, is a sign your heart is working too hard.

DR. GARY GOFORTH/FAMILY PRACTICE

RUNS:

1:54 It's normal for blood pressure to go up when you're stressed or you're exercising.

But when it's persistently elevated, it puts you at risk of having heart attack, strokes and

other cardiovascular events.

IT'S ESTIMATED ABOUT HALF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE HYPERTENSION, DON'T

KNOW IT. IDENTIFYING IT, HELPS YOUR DOCTOR, HELP YOU.
