5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Warming trend continues"

It was a warm start to the week as many spots across Southwest Florida topped out in the upper 70s to lower 80s. The warm weather will return once again for Tuesday, before another weather system increases our rain prospects. We'll also be tracking another cool down for the second half of the week.

Due to clear skies, high humidity, and calm winds the main concern for this morning will be areas of dense fog with visibilities reduced to 1/4 of a mile or less. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 9am. Otherwise, it will be a mild start to our Tuesday with temperatures hovering in the lower 60s. Once the low clouds and fog fade, mostly to partly sunny skies will take us into the late morning and early afternoon hours. Daytime highs will also be warmer than average as they climb into the lower half of the 80s, especially away from the coast. With an onshore wind coming off the 60° waters of the Gulf of Mexico, expect our beaches and coastal locations to run a few degrees cooler.

Clouds will be patchy as we head into the overnight period and temperatures will hover in the lower 60s.

Clouds will be on the increase as we head into Wednesday ahead of a cold front currently located across the northern half of the peninsula. This system will slowly make its way southward, with scattered showers developing late Wednesday evening and into early Thursday morning. Temperatures will dip into the upper 40s to lower 50s and once the rain exits, clouds should stay pretty thick overhead during the day. This along with a breezy northerly wind will keep our afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s.

High pressure will build in for the latter half of the week with a dry and mostly sunny pattern. This cool down will be very brief in nature, as winds take a turn to the east with highs in the 80s for the weekend. Return to index of stories...
