FIRST WEATHER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

CHILLY WEATHER SETTLES IN

The weather will be chilly, cloudy and a little wet for the next few days. A cold front has moved into southwest Florida and will keep the overcast skies in place through tomorrow. Temperatures only reached the 60's today and our lows tonight will drop to the lower 50's. Our inland communities will drop to the chilly 40's tomorrow morning.

You can also expect to see some rain showers this evening. It looks like some areas could see.50" of rain tonight, whereas the southern parts of our area are looking to be on the lighter side of that projection. Either way. all of southwest Florida is fair game for rain showers this evening.

Tomorrow will be another cloudy, cool day. Temperatures will only get into the 60's on Thursday afternoon. Rain showers will also pop up on our Live Doppler Radar during the morning and afternoon.

Looks like the clouds may take a while to break up and a mostly cloudy day is forecast for Friday. Temperatures will start to warm up a bit by the end of the week and the weekend outlook still calls for 80 degree weather to return. Return to index of stories...

SHOULDER TO SHOULDER IN A COLLIER COUNTY COURTROOM - RESIDENTS FROM NAPLES MOBILE HOME ESTATES SHOWED UP TO FIGHT FOR THEIR HOMES.

AFTER BOTH ATTORNEY'S FOR THE H-O-A AND OWNER OF THE PARK WENT AT IT FOR TWO HOURS - CIRCUT JUDGE HUGH HAYES AGREED TO GIVE RESIDENTS A FINAL JUDGEMENT - ALLOWING THEM TO APPEAL THE $14 MILLION PURCHASE PRICE ON THE PARK THAT WAS SET IN PREVIOUS RULINGS - SOMETHING THE PARK OWNER'S ATTORNEY OBJECTED TO.

THIS ALL STARTED BACK IN 1997 WHEN A COMPANY REPRESENTED BY NORTON KARNO PURCHASED THE PARK FOR $7 MILLION.

RESIDENTS CLAIM THE SALE HAPPENED BEFORE THEY HAD THE OPTION TO BUY IT FIRST - WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW.

THROUGHOUT 16 YEARS OF COURT PROCEEDINGS - THE PARK OWNER HIKED UP RENT FEES BY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS - FORCING SOME RESIDENTS OUT OF THEIR HOMES - OTHERS INTO THEIR CARS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO WHERE ELSE TO LIVE.

AFTER TODAY - RESIDENTS SAY THERE'S FINALLY SOME LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL - BUT DEALING WITH THE INCREASED RENT IS FAR FROM EASY.

THEY'VE ALREADY GUTTED OLD HOMES AND SOLD THEM OFF - THE ROADS HAVE BEEN REDONE -

Debrah Forester, Charlotte Redevelopment Manager"I think everyone's very excited about what's happening in the Parkside area."

DURING THE COUNTY'S "STICKER CAMPAIGN" THEY ASKED RESIDENTS TO WRITE DOWN WHAT THEY THINK IS MISSING IN TERMS OF RETAIL.

Debrah Forester, Charlotte Redevelopment Manager "We will reach out to them and let them know that there's this huge support here for them to come and perhaps that will just keep their eye on Charlotte County."
