TODAY'S WEATHER-WX CENTER

Our stretch of cloudy, rainy weather is finally coming to an end this weekend as a sunnier and warmer pattern takes hold of Southwest Florida.

After starting out the morning with areas of fog and low clouds, expect increasing sunshine through the afternoon with temperatures soaring into the low to mid 80s. Our winds will be southeasterly from 5-10 mph.

A few showers will be possible this morning and even this afternoon; however, overall coverage will be spotty, so most of us should end up staying dry.

Another round of fog will be possible overnight into Sunday morning, but once the fog lifts away by mid morning, we're set to see a mostly sunny sky along with unseasonably warm temperatures as highs climb back into the low to mid 80s.

For those who have been hoping for a stretch of warmer weather, this is definitely the week for you. A warm, sunny weather pattern stays locked in place through the next several days, and we may even be close to near-record warmth during the afternoons.

Highs will be in the mid 80s, and lows will only settle into the mid to upper 60s.

Isolated showers will be possible in the afternoon starting Wednesday, but rain chances should only be around 30%.

Watch for developing fog on most mornings this week, but overall, it's a nice looking forecast across Southwest Florida through the next week.

Have a great weekend!

GOOD MORNING 2: AT WEATHER CENTER-ONCAM

GOOD MORNING, THANKS FOR JOINING US HERE ON NBC-2 NEWS TODAY.

I'M STACEY DEFFENBAUGH. IN THE FIRST ALERT WEATHER CENTER WITH METEOROLGIST

JASON DUNNING.

JASON WHAT CAN WE EXPECT IN OUR FORECAST IN THE DAY AHEAD?? Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Return to index of stories...

BUT THE THOUGHT OF MONDAY'S VISIT TO THE PARK

"i had talked to my wife, I had almost brought it home.

BRINGS TEARS TO HIS EYES.

.as you can tell i'm a real lover I get real upset about it."

KEVIN FOUND THIS PUG MIX ABANDONED - WITH A TUMOR ON ITS THIGH THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL.

"i'm sure some family was heart broken over her because they left a bed put a jacket on the thing and I think it was probably a family that didn't have the money."

DISAPPOINTING,

"very."

ESPECIALLY FOR THE NORTH SHORE ANIMAL HOSPITAL - JUST A SHORT WALK AWAY FROM JUDD PARK WHERE THE DOG WAS FOUND.

TERESA KINCADE SAYS THE HOSPITAL WOULD HAVE EUTHANIZED THE DOG FOR FREE.

"They only had to travel a very short distance between the dog park and this facility."

SOMETHING KEVIN BELIEVED THE FAMILY COULDN'T HAVE KNOWN.

"it would almost appear to me that the family, whoever had it, didn't have the money to take care of it."

NOW KEVIN AND ANIMAL CONTROL WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW - THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS.

"Cause I KNow it gets expensive. I know."

DR. EMAD SALMAN/PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGIST

RUNS:

9:33 One area that is still a little room for improvement. 9:54 is a disease called

neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a nerve tumor that happens outside you're central

nervous system. So it's outside your brain, outside your spinal cord.

OF SIGNIFICANCE WITH THIS CANCER- IT IS OFTEN FOUND IN BABIES. THE

MAJORITY OF CASES ARE IN CHILDREN YOUNGER THAN FIVE, WITH INFANTS

HAVING THE HIGHEST CURE RATE.

DR. EMAD SALMAN/PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGIST

RUNS:

10:20 Where the child is born with it, the majority of them do well. In fact some of them

get better on their own and even become cancer-less.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

About 90 percent of babies diagnosed with neuroblastoma were alive five years

later. That dips to 68% for children diagnosed between the ages of 1 and 4. Meaning

neuroblastoma behaves quite differently in infants.

DR. EMAD SALMAN/PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGIST

ADVANCED INCLUDE CHEMOTHERAPY. SOME CASES DISAPPEAR ON THEIR

FORECAST-WX WALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.Jason Dunning jason.dunning@nbc-2.com via water.net

5:35 AM

to _Producers, support

Return to index of stories...
