6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Our stretch of cloudy, rainy weather is finally coming to an end this weekend as a sunnier and warmer pattern takes hold of Southwest Florida.

After starting out the morning with areas of fog and low clouds, expect increasing sunshine through the afternoon with temperatures soaring into the low to mid 80s. Our winds will be southeasterly from 5-10 mph.

A few showers will be possible this morning and even this afternoon; however, overall coverage will be spotty, so most of us should end up staying dry.

Another round of fog will be possible overnight into Sunday morning, but once the fog lifts away by mid morning, we're set to see a mostly sunny sky along with unseasonably warm temperatures as highs climb back into the low to mid 80s.

For those who have been hoping for a stretch of warmer weather, this is definitely the week for you. A warm, sunny weather pattern stays locked in place through the next several days, and we may even be close to near-record warmth during the afternoons.

Highs will be in the mid 80s, and lows will only settle into the mid to upper 60s.

Isolated showers will be possible in the afternoon starting Wednesday, but rain chances should only be around 30%.

Watch for developing fog on most mornings this week, but overall, it's a nice looking forecast across Southwest Florida through the next week.

Have a great weekend!

6:42 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

IT'S A FEELING HE WANTS ALL RETIRED MILITARY TO EXPERIENCE, IN

UNIFORM OR NOT -

IN FACT, HE'S MADE IT HIS MISSION.

Griffith

16:31

It's not what these guys are today , it's what they've been and they

are in every case veterans:39

IN 2008 - CONGRESS APPROVED A CHANGE TO THE U-S FLAG CODE -

ALLOWING ALL MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES TO SALUTE, NO MATTER

WHAT THEY'RE WEARING.

BUT GRIFFITH SAYS EVEN SIX YEARS LATER, YOU WON'T SEE MANY

VETERANS DOING THAT.

Bob knee

Veteran

21:54

A lot of retired and a lot of veterans just don't think they have be

right to comply with military protocol:03

SO, GRIFFITH WROTE TO THE N-F-L HOPING THEY MIGHT HELP SPREAD THE

WORD ON THE NATIONAL STAGE THIS SUNDAY.

Dick Thackston

veteran

20:05

He looks like a hero

BEFORE THE BRONCOS AND SEAHAWKS TAKE THE FIELD -

BEFORE THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER IS SUNG -

HE'S HOPES THE SUPER BOWL ANNOUNCER WILL SAY THESE WORDS -

6:24

As prescribed by United States Congress veterans are invited to render

a military salute. That's all , 6 seconds:31

SIX SECONDS -

HEARD BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE -

THAT HE SAYS COULD CHANGE TRADITION.

6:59

It will enrich it and it will last for generations:01

GRIFFITH STILL HASN'T HEARD BACK FROM THE N-F-L.

BUT HE PLANS TO CONTACT THE N-C-DOUBLE-A AND THE AMERICAN

BASEBALL LEAGUE NEXT -

HOPING SOMEDAY WHEN HE HEARS *OH, SAY CAN YOU SEE*

*HE'LL SEE THOSE MILITARY SALUTES.

REPORT SAYS CAPE ISN'T GAY FRIENDLY-PKG

0227 "It's beautiful. It's paradise."

REALTOR TED CAMPBELL COUNTS ON THIS VIEW. TO SELL CAPE CORAL.

0216 "I think it is one of the most ideal places in Florida to live."

HE'S SPENT THE PAST 12 YEARS.

CATERING TO THE GAY COMMUNITY.

0508 "Part of the reason people reach out to me for a realtor because they need to know there will be some type of protection."

THE HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN SCORED THE CITY TEN OUT OF100 ON L-G-B-T RIGHTS

. AMONG THE WORST IN THE NATION.

CAPE CORAL SHARES A RANKING WITH PLACES

LIKE BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA, PROVO UTAH, ABERDEEN SOUTH DAKOTA, AND LARAMIE WYOMING.

0636 "Part of the responsibility for that rests on the shoulders of the gay and lesbian community. No marginalized group ever got handed to them protection. They had to go and fight for it."

"Part of the reason for Cape Coral's dismal score, members of the LGBT community can be fired from their jobs, kicked out of restaurants, and turned away from buying homes just because of their orientation."

0123 "My big goal is to always have everybody feel like they are part of the city that they are included. and feel like they're not segregated out."

TO EARN MORE POINTS -

THE CITY COULD ADOPT AN ORDINANCE BANNING DISCRIMINATION AGAINST GAYS,

PROVIDE BENEFITS TO CITY EMPLOYEE'S SAME-SEX PARTNERS,

CREATE A DOMESTIC PARTNER REGISTRY,

AND ENACT ANTI-BULLYING POLIICES.

0353 "I certainly think its time to start having those discussions."

CAMPBELL CLAIMS A GAY-FRIENDLY CITY ALREADY EXISTS IN THE CAPE.

0645 "Maybe that's because the atmosphere is already accommodating even though the legal protections aren't there. Maybe part of the reason is we haven't pressed it."
