FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

CLOUDY AND WARM WITH A SHOWER

We start the morning with patchy dense fog. Some of that fog is likely to hang on through the mid-morning hours, especially near the coastline. After the fog, it's going to be another rather cloudy day. A cold front was approaching Southwest Florida yesterday, and is now basically stuck just to our north as a stalled front. That is the system that led us to plenty of clouds and a few showers yesterday. We can expect another round of clouds today along with a few passing showers. Winds will be from the northeast around 5-10 mph. Highs today will reach into the lower 80s. Through the night, we'll continue with mainly cloudy skies and temperatures will drop into the lower 60s for Friday morning. Friday will still be mostly cloudy, but the rain chance is be very slim. Highs will again reach into the lower 80s.

As you plan for the weekend, that same cold front that we have been talking about will finally push through Southwest Florida. It will bring some scattered showers late Saturday through early Sunday. Highs on Saturday will be in the lower 80s with plenty of humidity. Then on Sunday, we'll be just slightly cooler with highs in the lowers 70s with some warmer spots reaching into the lower 80s. Sunshine returns by Monday with highs still in the upper 70s. Return to index of stories...

WINTER WEATHER-TRX PKG

IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, PEOPLE ARE DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES TO STAY WARM.

CHUCK MCLAUGHLIN AND HIS WIFE ARE USING A NEIGHBOR'S GENERATOR TO KEEP THEIR REFRIGERATOR ON AND CELL PHONES CHARGED.

HIS STOVE, CANDLES AND A WARM COAT ARE THE ONLY TOOLS HE HAS TO FIGHT SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES WHILE POWER CREWS WORK TO RESTORE ELECTRICITY TO HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF HOMES LIKE HIS.

Sound Chuck McLaughlin - Montgomery County, PA

THE RELENTLESS WINTER IS STRETCHING STATE AND LOCAL BUDGETS. SOME AREAS ARE RUNNING OUT OF ROAD SALT. AND NEW YORK CITY ALONE HAS SPENT 57-MILLION DOLLARS ON SNOW REMOVAL SO FAR THIS WINTER.

AS PEOPLE SPIN THEIR WHEELS TRYING TO COPE WITH MOTHER NATURE'S LATEST BLOW. PENNSYLVANIA'S GOVERNOR WORRIES ABOUT KEEPING PEOPLE SAFE IN THE COLD.

Sound Gov. Tom Corbett - Pennsylvania

we do have worries about people using grills or turning on their cars and leaving their engines running in the house, the garage. we ar worried about carbon monoxide reports that people have been taken to the hospital with sickness, not death."

OFFICIALS SAY THINGS WILL START TO GET BETTER, BUT IT'S GOING TO TAKE TIME. MEANWHILE, OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. INCLUDING THE DEEP. SOUTH BRACE FOR THE BLAST IN THIS SEEMINGLY ENDLESS WINTER.

MORE THAN 500 POWER CREWS FROM SURROUNDING STATES HAVE CONVERGED ON THE PHILADELPHIA AREA TO HELP RESTORE POWER HERE. 1000 MORE ARE ON THE WAY. OFFICIALS EXPECT MOST CUSTOMERS TO BE BACK ON BY FRIDAY NIGHT. BUT NOT ALL. THE TEMPERATURE IS NOT EXPECTED TO GET OVER FREEZING HERE TODAY.
