6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

A slight cool down is coming later this weekend after a cool front swings through Southwest Florida tonight into Sunday morning.

Until the front makes it through, we've more warm weather on the way with highs back in the low 80s this afternoon with a mix of clouds and a little sun.

Clouds will be on the increase through the day as the front starts edging its way into Southwest Florida, but we should also manage to see some rays of sun at times, especially father south around Naples and Everglades City.

As the front makes its approach toward the area today, a few passing showers will be possible by the afternoon and evening, but our rain chance should only be in the "isolated" category. The highest rain chance today will be north of the Caloosahatchee River around Port Charlotte, Cape Haze, Englewood and North Port.

Showers will still be possible south of the Caloosahatchee River today but likely not until later this evening and tonight. Overall, rain chances will range from 30-40% with the highest chances the farther north you go.

Our winds shouldn't be too strong today, staying between 5-15 mph mainly out of the southwest.

Clouds will litter our sky through the evening and overnight as the front progresses through South Florida, and we'll likely start out our Sunday morning with lots of clouds and perhaps a couple showers.

Our sky will clear from north to south by the mid to late morning on Sunday, leaving us with mostly sunny and pleasant conditions for the remainder of our Sunday; highs will stay in the upper 70s, and humidity levels will also drop off a bit.

The forecast will work out very nicely to start the week. Temperatures will be a little cool Monday and Tuesday morning with lows dropping into the mid 50s. We'll be in store for plenty of sun and comfortable humidity Monday and Tuesday with highs topping out close to 80 degrees.

Clouds should be on the increase again late Wednesday as another weather system moves into Southwest Florida, bringing us a good chance of rain Wednesday night into Thursday followed by another cool down for the end of next week.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

PUSH TO BAN SMOKING BY PLAYGROUNDS-ONCAM

LIGHTING UP A CIGARETTE AROUND PLAYGROUNDS MAY BECOME ILLEGAL IN FLORIDA.

Anytime I ask her what to do, it's either playground or beach

AND WHEN SHE'S ON THE MONKEY BARS - KEVIN DOESN'T WANT TO SEE SOMEONE LIGHTING UP A CIGARETTE.

Kevin Octave, Fort Myers

19:30:14 These playground are for kids and for adults to come and smoke, they could go somewhere else. They don't need to do it around the kids. 19:30:24

HIS DAD SMOKED CIGARETTES - AND NOW KEVIN HAS ASTHMA BECAUSE OF THE SECOND HAND SMOKE

Kevin Octave, Fort Myers

I have lived it

SO HE SUPPORTS A PROPOSED LAW WHICH GIVES LOCAL GOVERNMENTS THE ABILITY TO BAN SMOKING NEAR PUBLIC PLAYGROUNDS AND ISSUE TICKETS TO VIOLATORS.

Nats

ASHLEY WELCH ENJOYED A CIGARETTE WHILE TAKING HER YOUNGER BROTHER TO CENTENNIAL PARK TODAY.

Ashley Welch, Smoker

19:23:20 i didnt think twice about it. But what I do is I'm not over here with the kids with a cigarette because I have respect for other people children. But I'll go sit at the park bench and watch them play 19:23:30

BUT SHE SAYS NOT EVERYONE WALKS AWAY FROM THE PLAYGROUND TO SMOKE - SO SHE WOULD LIKE TO SEE A BAN AND A DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA.

Ashley Welch, Smoker

19:24:00 we don't want the kids to be walking around see a lit cigarette on the ground and step on it. It could be dangerous, it could start a fire. There are so many reasons why we shouldn't. 19:24:09

LEE COUNTY AND BONITA SPRINGS BOTH TELL US SMOKING NEAR PLAYGROUNDS AT THEIR PARKS IS ALREADY PROHIBITED.

SO IF THIS BILL PASSED IT GIVES LOCAL LEADERS MORE OF A RIGHT TO ENFORCE IT.

6:42 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL
