WE JUST GOT AUDIO RECORDINGS OF THE MAN CONVICTED IN THE "LOUD MUSIC" SHOOTING IN JACKSONVILLE.

THE JURY CONVICTED DUNN OF ATTEMPTED MURDER --

BUT FAILED TO AGREE ON THE FIRST DEGREE MURDER CHARGE, IN THE DEATH OF A JACKSONVILLE TEEN.

DUNN TOOK THE STAND IN HIS OWN DEFENSE -- TESTIFYING FOR FOUR HOURS.

BUT THE JURY NEVER HEARD THIS. Return to index of stories...

FL LOUD MUSIC TAPES-PKG

JUST DAYS BEFORE GOING ON TRIAL FOR MURDER --

MICHAEL DUNN SHOWED *NO REMORSE* FOR THOSE SHOTS HE FIRED INTO A CAR FULL OF TEENAGERS.

"I say you're not going to kill me you son of a b**** and I shot/"

A DEFIANT DUNN RECOUNTING THAT NIGHT IN 2012, ON JUST-RELEASED RECORDINGS OF JAILHOUSE PHONE CALLS TO HIS FIANCE'.

"I'm the f-ing victim here. I was the one who was victimized, like they attacked me, I'm the victim.

DUNN, WHO WAS NEVER PHYSICALLY ATTACKED, SAYS HE FELT THREATENED.

BUT THE SHOTS HE FIRED STRUCK AND KILLED AN UNARMED TEENAGER, JORDAN DAVIS.

A FLORIDA JURY DEADLOCKED ON WHETHER THE DEATH WAS MURDER OR SELF-DEFENSE -- BUT FOUND DUNN GUILTY OF TRYING TO KILL DAVIS' FRIENDS.

"I miss you terribly."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah I knew what I had but you don't know what you got til it's gone."

A FLASH OF EMOTION FROM A MAN WHO WILL NOW LIKELY SPEND AT LEAST 60 YEARS BEHIND BARS.

ON THE TAPES, DUNN TALKS A LOT ABOUT WHAT LIFE MIGHT BE LIKE THERE.

"So I was in a room with 3 black guys."

"Oh no."

"You know, two were kids and one was an old man. And they asked me what I was in for, and I told them and gave them a little details, and they were like yep straight up that is what they get."

PROSECUTORS DISAGREE, AND SAY THEY PLAN TO RE-TRY DUNN FOR THE FIRST-DEGREE MURDER OF JORDAN DAVIS.

Dan Abrams/Legal Analyst

"because in a case like this, which means so much to so many people, you want to send a message that says Jordan Davis' legacy is not being forgotten." Return to index of stories...

DRASTICALLY REDUCED IMPACT FEES ARE STAYING IN LEE COUNTY FOR ANOTHER YEAR.

LOCAL LEADERS SAY THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN GREAT FOR THE ECONOMY.

BUT EDUCATORS TOLD NBC 2'S CHARLIE KEEGAN IT'S GOING TO HURT OUR KIDS IN THE LONG RUN. Return to index of stories...

LEE SCHOOL FEES-BNR-PKG

Nats- construction

EVERY TIME A NEW BUILDING SPRINGS UP IN LEE COUNTY - BUILDERS PAY AN IMPACT FEE. IT COVERS GROWTH CAUSED BY THAT BUILDING - PAYING FOR THINGS LIKE NEW ROADS, PARKS AND SCHOOLS.

LAST YEAR - THE COUNTY REDUCED IMPACT FEES by 80 PERCENT - HOPING TO encourage MORE GROWTH.

Victor duPont, BIA President

03:51:24 obviously it created a tremendous amount of jobs and that's the big thing we need going on not only in the county but in the rest of the country. 03:51:32

LOCAL BUILDERS SAY THE LOWER FEE IS WORKING.

COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGREE.

BUT --

Tom Scott, Lee Co School Board Chair

21:16:45 it's still troubling to us because it has profound impacts. 21:16:50

SCHOOL LEADERS AREN'T SO SURE.

Tom Scott, Lee Co School Board Chair

over the next 5 years we're going to need three new schools

TODAY - COUNTY LEADERS REVIEWED THE IMPACT FEE POLICY. THE NUMBERS LOOK GOOD - BUT IS IT BECAUSE OF THE IMPACT FEES OR BECAUSE THE ECONOMY WAS REBOUNDING ANYWAY.

Tom Scott, Lee Co School Board Chair

whether or not this was reduced by 80% or not reduced by a penny it wouldn't have changed the ultimate outcome in terms of the number of folks coming here and jobs being created. 21:19:30

REDUCED IMPACT FEES MEAN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS RECEIVING LESS MONEY - ABOUT 5.5 MILLION LESS THIS YEAR.

Nats - school.

AND THE DISTRICT NEEDS THAT MONEY TO PAY FOR NEW SCHOOLS. EVERY YEAR IT ADDS 15-HUNDRED STUDENTS.

Tom Scott, Lee Co School Board Chair

21:15:18 would it solve our problems entirely? No, but it would go a long way to helping. 21:15:23

PEOPLE LIVING HERE SAY IT'S ONLY FAIR FOR DEVELOPERS TO PITCH IN FOR THINGS LIKE NEW SCHOOLS WHEN THEY BUILD IN THE COUNTY.

Paul Moren, lee Co Resdient

03:47:54 why should the people that have lived here all their lives have to foot the bill for the new developments? 03:48:00

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SUNSHINE RETURNS TOMORROW

Quiet weather will be back again on Wednesday. For the rest of the evening our skies stay clear and our temperatures drop back to the mid and upper 50's. No rain is on the radar and non anticipated tonight.

Mostly sunny weather is on the way again tomorrow with daytime highs in the lower 80's and slightly cooler weather right at the beaches during the day. No rain forecast again tomorrow. By Thursday and Friday our humidity will start to creep back up and a few fair-weather clouds will develop in the afternoon.

In the long-range outlook we will be tracking an approaching cold front over the weekend. The front is forecast to move over the Florida peninsula and hang out for a few days. That would argue for a few showers to post in the forecast late Saturday, Sunday and Monday. At this point it still does not look like a very wet pattern is setting up for the weekend ahead. but plan on a few showers anyway. Return to index of stories...
