FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

WARM AND SUNNY WEDNESDAY

Another beautiful day is on the way for Southwest Florida today. We start with mainly clear skies and continue with mostly sunny skies all day. Afternoon highs will reach into the low to mid 80s for most spots with winds coming in from the southeast at 5 - 10 mph. At the beached, highs will only reach into the upper 70s as the late afternoon sea breeze keeps things cooler there.

Through the next couple of days, you'll start to notice more humidity. That will allow a few more clouds to form and keep the overnight temperatures a bit warmer. Lows will be in the mid 60s and afternoon highs will warm into the mid 80s. There is the chance for a very stray shower on the sea breeze by the end of the week.

Into the weekend, a cold front will be approaching. That front could bring a few showers to the area Saturday night into Sunday. By Monday and Tuesday higher rain chances will be in place. Return to index of stories...

GET READY TO PAY MORE FOR MILK, YOGURT AND CHEESE.

DAIRY ANALYSTS PREDICT THE PRICE OF THINGS LIKE MILK COULD GO UP 60-CENTS A GALLON NEXT MONTH.

SO WHAT'S BEHIND THE INCREASE?

REPORTER GEORGE KIRI-YAMA INVESTIGATES. Return to index of stories...

RISING DAIRY PRICES-PKG

GET READY FOR STICKER SHOCK IN THE DAIRY SECTION.

A POSSIBLE INCREASE OF AS MUCH AS 60-CENTS COULD PUSH THE PRICE OF MILK CLOSE TO FIVE OR SIX DOLLARS A GALLON.

S/ Tina Sandoval / Shopper:09-:14

"So yeah, when it goes up we are going to feel it. So defiantly its going to impact my family.

TINA SANDOVAL FAMILY DRINKS TWO GALLONS OF MILK EVERY WEEK. SHE SAYS THEY MIGHT HAVE TO CUT BACK NOT JUST ON MILK BUT CEREAL TOO.

"And I have grand kids that cereal like 3 of 4 times a day. So that's where most of the milk goes.

WHY THE INCREASE? ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS. NOT ENOUGH COWS TO MAKE ENOUGH MILK TO MEET DEMAND.

WHEN THE COST OF FEED WENT UP LAST YEAR, FARMERS CUT BACK ON THEIR COWS.

"Some times twice, some times three times a day. "

THE HIGHER PRICE OF MILK WOULD HIT THE POCKET BOOKS HARD AT ACTION DAY PRIMARY PLUS.

EVERY MONTH THE KIDS DRINK UP TO NINE HUNDRED GALLONS WORTH.

ACTION DAY PRIMARY PLUS SAYS IT WOULD EAT UP THE PRICE INCREASE THIS YEAR BUT IF THE COST OF MILK DOESN'T DROP, IT MIGHT HAVE TO PASS IT ON TO PARENTS.

"That would hit us. Its about 6 hundred dollars a month, just for this increase.

ANY INCREASES IN MILK PRICES MAY HAVE A RIPPLE EFFECT ON OTHER DAIRY PRODUCTS INCLUDING YOGURT AND ICE CREAM.

WILLOW BEND CREAMERY USES 20 TO 30 GALLONS OF MILK JUST FOR ITS MILK SHAKES.

IT'S POSSIBLE THE PRICE OF ICE CREAM MAY GO UP BECAUSE OF THIS.

"Would you guys like fewer trips to the ice cream store or yogurt store? No. Return to index of stories...

SCRIPT:

It's the pressing question.

nats - reporter

Miranda did you really kill 22 people?

.investigators are now working around the clock to answer.

Tuesday, 19-year old Miranda Barbour briefly met with local officials in

Sunbury, Pennsylvania, but she did not provide any information about her

shocking claims of being a serial killer.

In an explosive jailhouse interview with a local newspaper last week, the

newlywed and young mom confessed to killing quote "less than a hundred"

people in several states, starting at just 13 when she joined a satanic cult

, saying quote "When I hit 22 , I stopped counting.".adding her

husband jokingly referred to her violent alter-ego as "Super Miranda".

sot - Francis Scarcella/The Daily Item 02:42:54

Do we believe that? At this point I don't know, but I do know that she

looked at me dead square in the eyes and said this so matter of factly, that

if I were in law enforcement I would take it seriously.

And they are. Authorities in California, North Carolina, Alaska and

Pennsylvania have already started looking for any evidence to verify those

chilling claims.

sot - Steve Mazzeo/Police Chief, Sunbury PD 02:34:32

Our investigators have been in contact with law enforcement officers in

other states and the FBI.

Barbour and her husband of just three weeks, 22-year old Elytte Barbour, are

being held without bail. Police say the couple murdered a Pennsylvania man

they lured on craigslist.simply for fun.

This week her attorney filed paperwork asking she be spared the

death penalty.

INSIDE OLYMPIC PARK - THERE'S A LITTLE PIECE OF THE USA.

OLY: USA HOUSE TOUR-PKG

This is where Team USA celebrates after the medal stand…

A modern ski chalet in the middle of Olympic Park.

It's an exclusive spot - only for athletes, their families and sponsors to spend the time between events.

Welcome to the USA House - A tradition of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Sochi marks the first time the house is just a few minutes walk from the podium…

Inside, you might as well be in the in the U-S of A…

There's mingling and munching for Americans, only. Shopping too, no Russian or rubles to be found…

"At the USA House store, you can even dress like an Olympian! This opening ceremonies sweater: $595."

There are only 324 sweaters sold to the public…and the entire purchase price is a donation to the U-S-O-C.

But for American-centric souvenirs…Ralph Lauren and Nike stock the store with the same items gifted to competing athletes - the medal stand jacket…teeshirts and pins.

The idea is a little piece of home for the hardest-working Americans here…

"It's just a nice reprieve for everyone from all of the events and everything that's happening. It's a nice place to come, relax, have a drink, have some food and, socialize and cheer on Team USA will other Americans."

From the USA House in Sochi, I'm Sara Shookman. Return to index of stories...

WEATHER-WX WALL

Return to index of stories...

weight problem, but if you live a healthy lifestyle I still think you can be healthy.

FAR FROM OBESE- SUZANNE BELIEVES AS MANY AMERICANS DO- THAT IT IS

POSSIBLE TO BE FAT BUT FIT. BUT IN-DEPTH STUDIES FIND IT TOO GOOD TO

BE TRUE.

RUNS:

6:01: When you sugar coat recommendations, people take them half-heartedly. They go

home feeling like well it's not really that much of a problem, so I don't have to work on it

that aggressively.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

Research focused on obese people who were metabolically healthy. Meaning they

didn't meet the criteria for metabolic syndrome- a precursor for heart disease. After

following them for a decade, the study found they were 24% more likely to suffer a

cardiovascular event.

DR. SAL LACAGNINA/VP HEALTH & WELLNESS

RUNS:

10:52 People don't realize the gravity of the situation. They develop a heart attack, they

go into a hospital, they have bypass surgery and they come out of the hospital and they

go back to their old lifestyle. And that's usually because we haven't done the best job of

educating them that it was the lifestyle that created the problem.

THE LIGHT DIDN'T GO ON FOR SUZANNE UNTIL SHE HIT HER 50s AND HER

LIFESTYLE STARTED WEIGHING HER DOWN.
