Death Investigation in Bonita Springs

Saturday, February 22, 2014

On Friday, February 21, 2014, at approximately 3:54 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to 11671 Lee Court, Bonita Springs, in reference to a death investigation. Upon arrival, deputies observed two people deceased in the residence. The scene was secured and Major Crimes Unit Detectives assumed the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, the deceased were identified as Robert Ray Hampton and Teresa Louise Hampton.

It appears at this time that Robert Hampton came to the residence and shot Teresa Hampton, killing her, and then turned the gun on himself. The two had domestic issues in the past and were separated at the time of the incident.

The next of kin has been notified and is requesting their privacy be respected.

Media Inquiries are directed to the On-Call Public Information Officer via pager. Return to index of stories...
