HELLO-ONCAM-PUSH

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, AND THANKS FOR SPENDING PART OF YOUR SUNDAY WITH US FOR THIS SPECIAL EDITION OF NBC-2 NEWS TODAY.

I'M STACEY DEFFENBAUGH. WE WILL BE WITH YOU FOR THE NEXT HOUR, UNTIL 11 O'CLOCK.

WE WILL GET TO THE TOP STORIES OF THE MORNING IN JUST A MINUTE, BUT 1ST METEROLOGIST JASON DUNNING IS STANDING BY TO TELL US WHAT WE EXPECTED WEATHERWISE IN THE DAY AHEAD. Return to index of stories...

WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Dense fog is making the rounds once again this morning, leading to poor visibility over parts of Southwest Florida, lasting through the mid to late morning.

After the fog lifts, we're on track to see another warm and sunny day with temperatures returning to the 80s, which is several degrees above average for this time of year.

our coastal zones will stay a little cooler with temperatures from Sanibel to Marco Island peaking in the low 80s. For those of us closer to Highway 41 and I-75, temperatures will climb into the mid 80s. For locations deep inland and east of I-75, our temperatures may get as warm as the upper 80s!

Humidity levels will stay quite high through the course of our Sunday, but rain chances will stay relatively low. The few showers that do manage to develop will target our inland areas closer to Lake Okeechobee.

Our weather pattern stays very warm and humid through the first half of the week with highs in the mid 80s along with a mix of sun and clouds. We'll also need to watch for patchy fog late at night and early in the morning, reducing visibility to a quarter mile at times.

Rain chances stay pretty low through the first half of the week, but some isolated rain will likely develop deep inland away from the coast.

Our weather becomes a little more unsettled for the second half of the week as a weak cool front slides in from the north. From Wednesday through Friday, expect more cloud cover and even some scattered showers. Temperatures will also be slight cooler by Thursday and Friday with highs in the mid 70s and lows down to the low 60s. Return to index of stories...

A YOUNG LEE COUNTY MAN, WHO SEEMED DESTINED FOR A LIFE OF SUCCESS.

CRIME STOPPERS-PKG

As the Captain of the Track Team at Fort Myers High School, Kyle Byrtus was a young

man with the brightest of futures. Armed with a college scholarship and a strong work

ethic, it was clear to everyone who knew him that Kyle would make it far in life. But an

unfortunate twist of fate changed everything. Last August, at age 25, Kyle was murdered

- his remains found in a field in Lehigh Acres.

Spencer Ely - "This is something that somebody did to him. And that's really tough,

knowing that this shouldn't have happened. It didn't need to happen."

Throughout his younger years, Kyle was a friend to so many - someone who could light

up a room and always leave a lasting impression.

Lynne Kreger - "Everyone always talked about his smile. He was always willing to help

someone. He had the scholarship, plus the Bright Futures scholarship, so it wasn't just

athletics. He was a smart young man, too, and graduated with honors."

But those plans for success would quickly turn dim with just one bad choice.

Trish Routte - What's so devastating about Kyle's murder was that he was a young man

who had such a bright future. However when his life drifted off the straight and narrow,

that's when things took a turn for the worse.

Drug addiction quickly consumed Kyle's life - leaving him travelling in the wrong

circles with people who may very well have had a hand in his murder.

Lynne Kreger - "We tried so hard to get him help and at that point in time he just said he

was able to do it on his own."

Now, his family and friends are trying to come to grips with their loss and the lack of

answers as to who is responsible for Kyle's death.

Lynne Kreger - "Not knowing who did this, not knowing how long he was laying in that

field."

And despite the fact that Kyle made some bad choices is definitely no justification for

murder.

Spencer Ely- "Nobody deserves to have their life taken like that. That's the hardest part

for me is wondering what in the world somebody could have done to deserve that - and

there's nothing. There's no answer to that."

Kyle was known to associate with people in the Pine Manor area. In fact shortly after

his murder, posters were hung throughout the community seeking information on the

events that led to this brutal crime. But detectives are still waiting for that one piece of

information that could ensure that justice is served.

Lynne Kreger - "Just make that phone call. It's anonymous. If you know something,

anything, please. We need closure."

For Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, I'm Trish Routte.

FORECAST-WXWALL
