5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Showers followed by cooler weather"

We had another unseasonably warm day with little to no rain across the area. As we head into the next 24 hours, we'll be tracking some changes as our next weather system moves across the peninsula.

Patchy dense fog will be a concern once again this morning. A Dense Fog advisory is in effect for Glades, Hendry, and inland Collier until 9am. Visibilities, especially in those fog prone areas, could fall to less than 1/4 of a mile just around sunrise. Otherwise, temperatures will start off slightly cooler with low 60s in town, with upper 50s across our northern and interior zones. A bit of sunshine will break through during the late morning hours and temperatures will continue to climb with a bit more humidity today. Expect daytime highs to max out in the lower 80s with increasing clouds during the late afternoon. A few showers will be possible mainly east of the interstate, while most end the day on a dry note.

Clouds will thicken up tonight and temperatures will settle into the middle 60s. We'll even see a few showers overnight as a cold front approaches Southwest Florida.

Scattered showers will continue throughout our Thursday morning and it will end up being a cool day as daytime highs climb into the lower to middle 70s. By Friday morning, cooler air will rush down the state and temperatures will start off in the middle to upper 50s. Clouds will hang tough for the first part of the day, before the sunshine returns during the afternoon. This will set the stage for a splendid weekend with highs in the lower 80s and comfortable humidity values. Return to index of stories...

ARIZONA GAY RIGHTS

Arizona governor home amid furor over bill

PHOENIX - Gov. Jan Brewer is back in Arizona where she faces a decision whether to sign or veto a bill that has prompted a national debate over religious and gay rights.

The Republican governor has been in Washington the last five days for a governor's conference.

The Arizona Legislature passed a bill last week allowing businesses whose owners cite sincerely held religious beliefs to deny service to gays. It allows any business, church or person to cite the law as a defense in any action brought by the government or individual claiming discrimination.

Brewer will likely spend the next day or more pondering Senate Bill 1062.

There is widespread speculation that Brewer will veto the bill. But following a longtime practice with pending legislation, she hasn't said how she will act.

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is now among the high-profile individuals who've urged the governor to veto the bill. Return to index of stories...
