6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

We've got an absolutely gorgeous weekend in the works across Southwest Florida with abundant sunshine, comfortable temperatures and low humidity.

After starting our Saturday morning in the 40s and 50s, temps will climb rather quickly through the day. By midday, most of us will warm into the mid to upper 70s with daytime highs right around 80 degrees.

Since the atmosphere is so dry and stable, rain will stay out of our forecast through the entire weekend.

Another cool but pleasant evening is in store tonight, but it won't be quite as cool as last night. With a clear sky in place, temps will drop into the upper 50s to low 60s along the coast and down to the low to mid 50s deep inland through early Sunday morning.

A little fog may form during the predawn hours Sunday, but it won't last for long. Sunshine will dominate our weather once again on Sunday, and temperatures will get a little boost as temps reach the low to mid 80s during the afternoon.

The nice weather continues into the upcoming week. We'll enjoy plenty of sunshine Monday and Tuesday, and temperatures will be warmer than average with highs in the mid 80s.

Rain won't creep back into the forecast until the end of the week, and forecast models hint at the potential for some strong thunderstorms Thursday into Friday as a powerful low pressure system moves across the Florida peninsula.

A blast of cooler weather will likely these storms from Friday into the upcoming weekend.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

**NAT SOUND - DOG WHINING**

This dog is now looking for a new home -

after Lee County Domestic Animal Services took it in along with 20

other animals.

All of them found in the same filthy Southwest Cape Coral home.

34:15 34:18

It was just too many of them and we were trying to do our best to get

rid of them

The owner of those pets opened up to NBC2 - on the condition we not

use her name or face.

She admitted things had become out of hand.

In all, animal services took in 15 cats, including 3 newborn kittens -

three dogs, two rabbits and a snake-

found in disgusting living conditions they classify as hoarding.

Ria Brown

Lee County Domestic Animal Services

12:52 12:58

More often than not they aren't cooperative so in this case it was a

good thing that as did realize that she needed help

STAND UP

29:56 30:08

Animal services knew to come to this home because they received an

anon tip that there was a foul odor coming from the house and when

they actually got on scene that smell Made the animal control officer

sick

38:27 38:31

when you have that many cats things are going to get out of control

The pet owner is accepting help and did voluntarily give those animals up.

She says she's not a hoarder, but just couldn't afford to spay her cat.

37:48 37:56

Its not like we were bringing in one animal after another after

another it was one single cat that got out 3 different times and had 3

litters of cats

Animal services says there is help out there for pet owners in her position -

and they just need to ask.

As for these 21 pets,

34:35

They're like my babies you know.:37

both animal services and their former owner hope they find better homes soon.

6:32 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

COLLIER BUILDING PERMIT CONTROVERSY-PKG

NAPLES BUSINESS OWNER TONY DINORCIA IS TRYING TO LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM.

05:13:47

Very small business, about 22 employees.

IT HASN'T BEEN EASY.

05:13:50

The last five years we lost about 2 and a half million dollars.

MAKING MATTERS MORE DIFFICULT.

THE COUNTY SAYS he needs even more permits.

05:14:41

Some of these regulations I think are rediculous.

SINCE 2007, DINORCIA HAS RACKED UP MORE THAN 14 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN FINES.

HE TELLS US HIS BUSINESS HAS PASSED OSHA, FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND EPA INSPECTIONS.

but according to the county--

the canopies and these silos DON'T HAVE PROPER PERMITS.

KITCHELL SNOW, CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

05:00:43-:45

We did a patrol, we found out there was a violation.

STANDUP

05:21:17-:24

Code enforcement says it's a matter of safety, making sure people in and around these structures won't get hurt.

KITCHELL

05:04:18-:27

Collier County has been very successful resisting the natural disasters that we have and one of the reasons we have that is because we're very strict about our building codes.

CODE ENFORCEMENT officer KITCHELL SNOW SAYS THEY ARE INUNDATED WITH PERMIT VIOLATORS EVERY WEEK.

and they're adding up--

THE COUNTY is losing THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS A YEAR.

KITCHELL

05:07:38-:46

These are one of our most serious cases there could possibly be hundreds of structures out there without permits.

BUT DINORCIA says the lengthy permitting process is a big part of the problem.

TONY

05:11:20-:28

Unfortunately it takes about, it takes a couple years because you have to get a site plan approval, which has taken my five years to get it.

THE PAST SEVEN YEARS HE TELLS US HE'S PAID 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS TRYING TO COME INTO COMPLIANCE.

TIME AND MONEY DINORCIA SAYS HAVE BEEN WASTED

05:12:08-:13

I think that's completely unfair because if you go up and down our streets there, the place is a dump.
