WEATHER-TRX-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

The hits just keep on coming for this first weekend of March. After what ended up being a glorious Saturday across Southwest Florida, we're in store for another nice, sunny and warmer Sunday.

We'll start the morning with a little patchy fog, which won't last too long. Sunshine will be the dominant weather player again today as temperatures climb all the way into the low to mid 80s.

Temps along the beaches will be a few degrees cooler thanks to the sea breeze, so places like Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, and Naples should only warm to 78-80 degrees this afternoon under full sunshine.

Rain will be absent from the forecast again today, and humidity levels will be very comfortable.

The warm, sunny and dry weather pattern carries over into the beginning of the week, and our temps will become a few degrees above average with daytime highs Monday through Wednesday in the mid 80s.

Humidity will slowly creep up through the course of the week, culminating with a strong weather system developing in the Gulf, which may bring some heavy rain and storms to the area by Thursday. Early signs point the potential for some strong thunderstorms Thursday, so we'll need to watch the severe potential closely as we go through time.

Once the storms exit early Friday, cooler and sunnier weather will follow just in time for the weekend! Return to index of stories...

A RASH OF ROBBERIES HAS HIT SEVERAL LEE COUNTY BUSINESSES OVER THE LAST FEW

AND HOW YOUR INFORMATION COULD PUT A HALT TO THE VIOLENCE. Return to index of stories...

CRIME STOPPERS-PKG

Over the last month, a series of violent robberies have struck Lee County businesses.

Whether they're linked is still unknown right now, but all indicators point to having a

core group of felons terrorizing local residents and business owners.

The first of what would turn out to be five… and counting… robberies occurred in the

early morning hours of January 18th

Road. There, a black male burst into the business, with an orange shirt covering his face,

pointing a semi-automatic handgun at the clerk's face, demanding money. Nearly three

weeks later, a man fitting that same description returned to the Pilot station shortly after

midnight, this time donning a ski mask, gloves and again, a semi-automatic handgun. He

forcefully demanded cash from the teller, then took off on foot.

Trish Routte: In these two robberies, and the ones that would follow, the suspect took

control of the situation, exuding the stride and confidence of someone well versed in the

world of crime. This definitely wasn't his first time… nor would it be his last.

Fast forward a few days to Friday, February 14th

clothes, rubber gloves and a bandana forced a clerk to hand over all the cash in the till,

before taking off on foot. Less than 48 hours later, two more robberies took place - this

time with two suspects, still fitting that same description and coincidentally armed with

semi-automatic handguns.

The one difference with the 4:00 a.m. Circle K robbery on February 16th

a.m. robbery that quickly followed at the Waffle House in South Fort Myers was that the

suspects became obviously more bold, more agitated, and exhibited an escalation in their

violent behavior. During the hold up, the suspects forcibly manhandled women as well

as an older man, forcing him to the ground before taking his wallet and wedding ring.

Every suspect is described as a thin black male, around 6'0" - each toting a similar

weapon. And whether they're isolated incidents or related, there's a high probability that

more businesses will get targeted until these men are apprehended and get to spend some

quality time behind the doors of a jail cell.

For Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, I'm Trish Routte.

FORECAST-WXWALL
