23 OF ITS EMPLOYEES OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS - GONE

Leo Beane/5:37:04 "I think to open it up, check and see what the problems are, i think it would be good for the whole situation."

SO IS NEW CITY MANGER ROGER HERNSTADT.

HERNSTADT SAYS THE CITY NEVER HAD A FORMAL EXIT INTERVIEW PROCESS.

NOW - HE'S REACHING OUT TO THOSE FORMER EMPLOYEES - CONDUCTING INTERVIEWS AND LOOKING TO FIND OUT WHETHER THEY LEFT BECAUSE OF MANAGEMENT OR A BETTER OPPORTUNITY.

Roger Hernstadt/City Manger, Marco Island5:43:08 "looking for themes that seem to cut across the entire group of people so that there's high likelihood that those observations will be valid."

CHIEF DON HUNTER TOLD NBC-2 HE SUPPORTS HERNSTADT AND WHAT HE'S TRYING TO DO.

HERNSTADT NOTED HE'S NOT CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION OR AN AUDIT - HE'S SIMPLY LOOKING TO MAKE THE DEPARTMENT STRONGER.

Roger Hernstadt/5:40;42 "We've lost just over 20 and thus far had the opportunity to talk to about a third of those people."

Leo Beane/5:38:38 i don't think it should be pre-judged, get to the bottom of it, find out what the issue is and then you correct it."

ANOTHER WINTER STORM-trxPLASMA

THE PUNISHING WINTER WEATHER CONTINUED TODAY FOR MILLIONS OF AMERICANS.

ANOTHER WINTER STORM CAUSED ICE AND SNOW FROM OKLAHOMA TO NEW YORK.

NBC'S CHRIS PALLONE PICKS UP THE STORY. Return to index of stories...

ANOTHER WINTER STORM-PKG

IF YOU'RE HOPING TO GET SOMEWHERE QUICKLY.

THIS PROBABLY ISN'T THE WINTER TO DO IT.

BY LAND OR BY AIR, THE WEATHER IS FORCING AMERICANS TO STAY HOME, CHANGE THEIR PLANS, OR SPEND HOURS MORE THAN NORMAL TO GET WHERE THEY'RE GOING.

TAKE THE ROADS IN OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY MONDAY.

"You can actually see as you're driving out there real shiny, so they're pretty icy out, nobody should be out right now."

BUT THEY WERE.

FROM DALLAS TO LITTLE ROCK TO PHILADELPHIA, DRIVERS JUST TRYING TO START THE WORK WEEK RAN SMACK DAB INTO MOTHER NATURE'S LATEST VOLLEY.

A WINTER BLAST THAT CAUSED HASSLE AND HEARTACHE FROM COAST TO COAST. 130 MILLION PEOPLE IN ITS PATH.

"A lot of fender benders, a lot of people trying to get to work early, trying to get a head start."

IT WAS MUCH THE SAME IN TEXAS, TENNESSEE, AND VIRGINIA.

ICE TURNED DALLAS AREA HIGHWAYS INTO 15-MILE LONG PARKING LOTS.

POLICE IN VIRGINIA RESPONDED TO 300 CRASHES IN JUST 10 HOURS.

THE SNOW FORCED MOST FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES IN WASHINGTON TO CLOSE.

HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE REGION CANCELED YET AGAIN.

IT'S ENOUGH TO CAUSE EVEN THE MOST ARDENT FAN OF WINTER TO ADMIT, IT'S NOT THAT GREAT.'

"It's been challenging, getting the cars out of the driveway and such. I'm done with it. Ready for spring to come. Ready for things to start peeking out of the snow."

UNFORTUNATELY, THE ONLY THING UNDER THE SNOW HERE, IS ICE. AND MORE SNOW.

AIRPORTS FROM PHILADELPHIA NORTHWARD ARE STARTING TO GET BACK ON SCHEDULE. BUT AS OF LATE TODAY, NEARLY THREE THOUSAND FLIGHTS WERE CANCELED NATIONWIDE. IF YOU'RE HEADING ANYWHERE IN THE EASTERN HALF OF THE COUNTRY, YOU MIGHT WANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR FLIGHT IS STILL ON.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

MORE NICE WEATHER

After a beautiful weekend. there are a couple more nice days to come. The forecast tonight continues to present quiet weather with mostly clear skies. Lows this evening drop back to the lower 60's along the coast and upper 50's inland. There could be some morning fog again this morning and a few inland locations may have reduced visibility to start the day on Tuesday.

It looks like another nice afternoon tomorrow with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 80's. A sea breeze in the afternoon will cap the temperatures in the upper 70's on the beaches.

The extended forecast does call for a pretty good chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday as a cold front is forecast to cross the area and give us the only shot at rain this week. In the long-range forecast it appears we will be lucky enough to have more great weather in place by this coming weekend.
