TODAY'S WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.The stage is set for another gorgeous weekend across Southwest Florida with full sunshine and low humidity all weekend long.

Temperatures managed to drop all the way into the 40s to start our Saturday morning, but we'll see a nice warm up through the day with low 70s expected by noon and mid 70s for those daytime highs.

With the air becoming so dry today, rain won't be in the forecast whatsoever, and we'll stay dry Sunday as well.

After what ended up being a very breezy Friday, winds relax substantially today with a northeasterly breeze only around 5-10 mph.

Another cool night is on tap tonight, but instead of cooling into the 40s, most of us will only drop into the mid 50s. The exception will be our inland communities where temperatures may come close to the upper 40s by sunrise Sunday.

We're on track to see another beautiful day tomorrow. The only difference is temperatures will be a touch warmer with highs climbing into the low 80s by the afternoon.

The warmth and humidity gradually make a comeback as we start the week. Monday and Tuesday will be a bit warmer with highs aimed for the mid 80s along with some more patchy clouds mixed with sunshine.

The next chance for showers comes Wednesday as another cool front moves through Southwest Florida, which will send another batch of cooler weather for the second half of the week. Return to index of stories...

RESIDENTS IN CAPE CORAL LISTEN UP!

THE CAPE CORAL EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS CENTER TELLS NBC-2 THAT THEY ARE HAVING A TECHNICAL PROBLEM

WITH THEIR PHONE LINES.

THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO RECEIVE ANY EMERGENCY AND NON EMERGENCY TELEPHONE CALLS.

HERE ARE A LIST OF ALTERNATIVE NUMBERS FOR NON EMERGENCY CALLS.

RESIDENTS WHO HAVE AN EMERGENCY CAN STILL CALL 9-1-1.

TO GET THE LIST OF NUMBERS JUST LOG ON TO OUR WEBSITE AT NBC DASH TWO DOT COM.

- The Cape Coral Emergency Communications Center is currently experiencing a technical problem that is affecting all incoming telephone lines to the Communications center.

The malfunction directly impacts the Center's ability to receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls.

Alternate phone numbers for non-emergency calls have been established. For now, residents who would normally contact Cape Coral Police Department or CCFD's via the non-emergency number 574-3223 should use the following until further notice:

242-3347

707-1973

707-0454

Residents who have an emergency and need Police, Fire, or EMS should still call 9-11. Those calls are being routed to an alternate receiving facility and emergency service will not be affected.

Service personnel are currently working to restore phone service. We will provide an update once phone service to the Communications Center has been restored. Return to index of stories...

HERE ARE THE TOP STORIES FROM OVERSEAS.

THERE'S STILL NO SIGN OF A MALAYSIA AIRLINES AIRCRAFT.

THE JET WAS CARRYING MORE THAN 200 PASSENGERS. INCLUDING THREE AMERICANS.

IT LEFT KUALA LUMPUR EARLY SATURDAY AND LOST COMMUNICATION OVER VIETNAM.

THE PLANE WAS HEADED TO BEIJING. AT THE AIRPORT THERE, RELATIVES AND FRIENDS WAITED ANXIOUSLY FOR NEWS.

RESCUE TEAMS HAVE NOW BEEN DEPLOYED TO TRY TO LOCATE THE PLANE.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Vietnamese air force planes on Saturday spotted two large oil slicks in the area where a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 vanished earlier in the day, the first sign that the aircraft carrying 239 people on board had crashed.

The air force planes were part of a multinational search operation launched after Flight MH370 fell off radar screens less than an hour after it took off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing early Saturday morning.

A Vietnamese government statement said the slicks were spotted late Saturday off the southern tip of Vietnam and were each between 10 kilometers and 15 kilometers long. There was no confirmation that the slicks were related to the missing plane, but the statement said they were consistent with the kinds that would be produced by the two fuel tanks of a crashed jetliner.

Two-thirds of the missing plane's passengers were from China, while others were from elsewhere in Asia, North America and Europe.

Malaysia Airlines CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said there was no indication that the pilots had sent a distress signal, suggesting that whatever happened to the plane occurred quickly and possibly catastrophically. Return to index of stories...

GOOD MORNING, THANKS FOR JOINING US HERE ON NBC-2 NEWS TODAY.

WE ARE LOOKING AHEAD TO A BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND AFTER A CHILLY START TO OUR MORNING.

FOR MORE ON OUR WEEKEND FORECAST.

HERE'S METEOROLOGIST JASON DUNNING. Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

The stage is set for another gorgeous weekend across Southwest Florida with full sunshine and low humidity all weekend long.

First there was a divorce, then there was moving. Then you get some place and there's no health insurance. Then you finally get health insurance at some place and you're really busy at work.

BUT TODAY'S MAMMOGRAM LOOKS AND FEELS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN THE LAST.

99% of my patients want the 3D mammography

.

DR. HARMINDAR GILL'S BONITA SPRINGS OFFICE IS ONE OF THREE LOCATIONS WE FOUND IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA THAT OFFERS 3D MAMMOGRAMS.

You can actually look into the breast tissue in a very, very detailed fashion. One millimeter thick intervals

WITH THESE NEW DETAILS IMAGED…DR. GILL SPOTTED WHAT SHE BELIEVES TO BE A SMALL CYST IN TISH'S BREAST.

DR. GILL SAYS IT WOULD HAVE GONE UNDETECTED WITH THE STANDARD 2D IMAGE.

NATS

TISH SAYS THERE'S ANOTHER REASON TO LOVE 3D MAMMOGRAMS -- THE COMFORT FACTOR.

33:16 - 33:31

Somehow when you're doing that arm reach that you have to do for the machine you're not feeling as much pinching as you had been feeling before and certainly not as much discomfort as you're making that stretch and making the squish!

ALL WOMEN CAN ELECT TO GET 3D MAMMOGRAMS, BUT DR. GILL SAYS THERE ARE ESPECIALLY GREAT FOR

-WOMEN WITH HIGH DENSITY BREAT TISSUE

-WOMEN WHO ARE BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS

-AND WOMEN WHO HAVE THE BRCA 1 OR BRCA 2 GENES

THE PROCEDURE IS NOT USUALLY COVERED BY INSURANCE

DR. GILL'S PATIENTS PAY AN EXTRA $69 FOR THE SERVICE.

FOR TISH.THE EXTRA PEACE OF MIND IS WELL-WORTH IT THE COST.

you're looking at the 2D over here and you're looking at the slicing of the 3D over here and you're like, "ok! That was worth every penny!

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THhe stage is set for another gorgeous weekend across Southwest Florida with full sunshine and low humidity all weekend long.

E FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

A major cause of anemia is iron deficiency- which is a largely reversible condition.

Addressing the issue early may help older adults keep a sound mind. Problem is, many

of these people are weak when it comes to getting screened for anemia.

the time. They are reluctant to go check their physical examination by their doctor. But

whoever does it regularly we can pick up from them very early.

ANEMIA, ALONG WITH MANY CONDITIONS, INCLUDING HEART FUNCTION, ARE

LINKED TO DEMENTIA. TREATING THEM MIGHT WARD OFF MENTAL DECLINE.

DR. ABOO MANNAN/GERIATRICIAN
