5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Warm and dry to start to the week"

It was a picture perfect weekend across Southwest Florida, with cool mornings and warmer afternoons. Our stretch of dry weather will continue for the next couple of days, before showers make a return to the area by Wednesday.

Temperatures this morning won't be as cool, as most of us will start the day in the upper 50s to low 60s. With light winds and clear skies, areas of patchy fog will be a concern around sunrise, especially across our inland communities. Once the fog mixes out, mostly sunny skies will dominate the forecast. Expect daytime highs to be warm again this afternoon. Away from the coast, expect thermometer readings in the lower half of the 80s, while beaches and coastal locations are a few degrees cooler due to the gulf breeze.

Temperatures will be even milder tonight, as they settle into the lower 60s area wide. We'll even see the potential for another round of patchy fog by dawn on Tuesday.

Our mainly dry weather pattern will hold in place through Tuesday. High pressure will keep our skies partly sunny with afternoon temperatures in the lower to middle 80s. Rain prospects will remain less than 10%. By mid week, we'll be tracking another system evolving in the Gulf of Mexico. This will throw more cloud cover across the region on Wednesday with scattered showers and a few storms. As the cold front passes by late Wednesday, cooler and drier weather will return in its wake. Daytime highs will return to the middle and upper 70s, with morning lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. This will set the stage for another delightful weekend with more sunshine and comfortable humidity values. Return to index of stories...
