GG HOME INVASION-SS-BOXES

GOOD EVENING I'M PETER BUSCH.

ARMED ROBBERS HAVE NOW STORMED INTO FOUR COLLIER COUNTY HOMES IN THE PAST MONTH.

TWICE, THEY TARGETED SOME OF THE RICHEST NEIGHBORHOODS IN NAPLES.

THE LATEST HAPPENED IN THE GATED COMMUNITY OF ESTUARY AT GREY OAKS.

NAPLES POLICE TELL NBC2 THE ROBBERS TIED UP A COUPLE AND HELD THEM AT GUNPOINT.

NBC2 CHRISTY ANDREWS IS LIVE IN COLLIER COUNTY WHERE INVESTIGATORS ARE WORKING OVERTIME. Return to index of stories...

GG HOME INVASION-REM-26

WE TALKED TO THE VICTIM EARLIER TONIGHT BUT THEY DID NOT WANT TO TALK AND ASKED FOR PRIVACY.

THIS IS EXTREMELY UNUSUAL SITUATION FOR NAPLES-- AND ESPECIALLY A NEIGHBORHOOD LIKE THIS.

BUT IT WAS ENOUGH TO BRING BOTH THE COLLIER COUNTY SHERIFF AND NAPLES POLICE CHIEF TOGETHER TONIGHT.

-- THEY SAY THEY'RE NOT CERTAIN THESE ARE ALL CONNECTED, BUT THEY'RE WORKING TOGETHER JUST IN CASE. Return to index of stories...

FOUR ROBBERIES.

ALL ERIELY SIMILAR

Chief Tom Weschler

They bound the victims and searched the homes

A HORRIFYING HOME INVASION

THE LATEST-- IN THIS UPSCALE NAPLES NEIGHBORHOOD

THE COUPLE TOLD POLICE THEY WERE WATCHING TV WITH THE LANAI DOOR OPEN-

TWO PEOPLE CAME INSIDE--

HELD THEM AT GUN POINT

THEN TOOK MONEY -- JEWELRY AND THEIR ROLLS ROYCE.

WHEN POLICE GOT THERE--

THEY FOUND THE COUPLE TIED UP INSIDE THE HOME

Chief Tom Weschler

Naples Police Department

38:37-38:40

This is not the norm for Naples nor is it the norm for collier county

ALL FOUR HAPPENED IN THE LAST MONTH.

One in Naples--

And two near golden gate estates

The man who lives here

Explained the horrifying situation

Days after five men barged into his home

And tied UP his family-- including two children

Sot

"And they advised us that if we cooperate they will not harm us but if we don't tell them where things are they will start shooting "

In all four- investigators say the victims were tied up

And their doors were unlocked.

NAPLES police chief says it's possible the homes were being watched

Chief Tom Weschler

Naples Police Department

42:08-42:15

The incidents that took place were very thought out. They seem to be planned and that's something that we are looking into in the investigation

THE LATEST -- the first to happen in a gated community

PROMPTING AUTHORITIES TO PUT EVERYONE ON ALERT.

Collier County Sheriff

41:13-41:22

If you do live in a gated community there is always the potential of access by foot. Please continue to take the right preventative measures Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

COOLER WEATHER ON THE WAY

Wednesday featured partly sunny skies and a few scattered showers north of Ft. Myers as a cool front works through the area. The scattered showers will diminish this evening, with temps falling into the 70s. Skies will clear out overnight, with lows in the low 60s.

Behind the front, much cooler air will push into the region. We'll see almost total sunshine on Thursday, but despite the sun highs will only climb into the low 70s. Expect a very cool Thursday Night, with lows falling into the mid and upper 40s.

We will start a warming trend to close the work week. Sunshine will again bathe the region on Friday, with highs back in the upper 70s. A few locations inland will likely push into the low 80s.

The weekend is looking 50/50, with the better day being Saturday. Mostly sunny skies will prevail on Saturday, with highs back in the low 80s.

On Sunday, more moisture returns the region. This will result in increasing clouds and the chance for a few scattered showers. Highs on Sunday will push into the mid 80s.

Unsettled weather is looking likely as we head into next week. We'll see plenty of cloud cover with day-to-day chances of scattered showers. Right now, it looks like the best chance for rain will be Monday. Highs next week will hold in the low 80s. Return to index of stories...
