FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

THE COOL DOWN IS COMING

This morning we start with temperatures in the mid 60s, but we will only warm into the lower 70s this afternoon despite sunny skies. Winds from the north-northeast will come in around 15 mph with gusts in the 20-25 mph range. Then through the night tonight temperatures will really take a dive under clear skies. Morning lows on Friday will be in the mid 40s in inland cold spots to the lower 50s at the beaches. That will be the coldest time period with this little cold spell. By Friday afternoon, a warming trend is already underway as temperatures will climb into the upper 70s with some of those inland hot spots touching the 80 degree mark.

For your weekend planning, Saturday looks great. We'll see mostly sunny skies and highs will reach into the lower 80s. By Sunday, there will be more clouds in the skies, and possibly even a shower, while highs reach into to the low to mid 80s.

In the longer range, it looks like a few days of unsettled weather for the start of next week. That means plenty of cloud cover along with the chance for a few showers. Highs will stay in the lower 80s. Return to index of stories...

TAX TIME IS IN FULL SWING AND MANY OF US ARE STILL SCRAMBLING TO FILE.

NICK CHLUMSKY FROM THE NOLTE WEALTH MANAGEMENT GROUP OF WELLS FARGO ADVISORS IS HERE TODAY WITH A COUPLE OF HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AS WELL AS SOME TIPS TO HELP BETTER ORGANIZE YOUR INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS.

GOOD AFTERNOON, NICK. Return to index of stories...

WELLS FARGO-PLASMA CG

· I'll tell you, this is really a busy time of year right now for a whole lot of people in Southwest Florida with season in full swing, but accountants and CPAs are racing against the clock to get all of their client's 1099s, W2s, and other tax information to prepare taxes before April 15th. And having worked with many CPAs in the area and spending time in their offices, I know that the typical client hands their accountant a manila folder or envelope just stuffed with paperwork that the accountant has to organize and make sense of.

· And to gather all of this tax information, the client, in a lot of cases, spends a lot of time hunting down lost 1099s and other tax reports from several different financial institutions which can make the process time consuming and complicated. So here are a couple of tips or recommendations to think about to make tracking your accounts and filing your taxes a little easier in the future.

· Consider consolidating your investment accounts to one financial institution. After all, isn't retirement about simplifying your life? Consolidating your accounts with one advisor has many advantages. With all your investments in one place your advisor can more effectively manage your overall financial plan and retirement income. Tracking your accounts, tax documents, and coordinating Requirement Minimum Distributions and other service-related tasks will also be streamlined.

· But maybe you're the kind of person that doesn't want all of your eggs in one basket. Maybe you like seeing 5 or 6 different statements and like the diversification of having your assets at several financial institutions. That's neither good nor bad but with the way technology is today, I don't think it's the best way to go. Many folks confuse simplicity with a lack of diversification. I would make the argument that one advisor overseeing your assets will likely result in your investments being properly diversified and that overlap doesn't exist between accounts. But if you are set on having your assets at multiple firms, consider selecting one advisor as the point person who will track and coordinate all of your investments for you. Doing this will simplify your life a bit and will free you up to do the things you really want to do.

· Last, just a couple of housekeeping items. If you have an IRA, and you turned 70 ½ last year and didn't take a requirement minimum distribution in 2013, you must do so before your required beginning date of April 1st of this year, just a couple weeks away. Also, if you haven't made a 2013 IRA contribution and still want to do so, April 15th is the deadline. Return to index of stories...

WITH SO MANY OPINIONS. PROFESSOR HAMPIKIAN OPENED UP DEBATE IN CLASS.

"When you are defending yourself, you are reacting to an attack. Why not try to level the playing field as much as possible?"

"People are going to carry whether you restrict them or not."

"I have a concealed carry. I don't necessarily think it's appropriate on campus and I'm kind-of torn on it."

THAT CONSTANT COUGH- IT COULD BE A SIGN OF A CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITION- ONE THAT IS INCREASING IN THE ADULT POPULATION.

DR. SAGAR NAIK/PULMONOLOGIST

RUNS:

:29 I think asthma shifted- the traditional part of it being a disease of childhood- to being increasingly recognizes in adulthood as well.

A PERSISTENT COUGH IS AN INDICATOR, ALONG WITH EPISODIC WHEEZING OR SHORTNESS OF BREATH. AND FREQUENT SINUS ISSUES MAY ACTUALLY BE SYMPTOMS OF ASTHMA.

TERESA SUMME/ASTHMA MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

RUNS:

2:00 With adults, they'll mask their symptoms because they'll think they're just coughing. They need to be treating just like a child, right away with their relief medicine.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

While adults are less likely than children to end up in the ER with breathing problems, asthma is nothing to kid around with. Left untreated, it can cause permanent damage and even lead to severe respiratory diseases, like COPD.

DR. SAGAR NAIK/PULMONOLOGIST

RUNS:

6:32 The tubes that take air to the lungs are inflamed in asthma and that inflammation causes the tubes to constrict or get narrow. 7:03: With years and years of inflammation that tube gets scarred and get thickened and permanently remains a constricted phase. So patients with asthma. bad, untreated asthma can go on develop permanent irreversible changes in their lungs.

CREATED FOR KIDS, LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM REFORMATTED IT'S ASTHMA PROGRAM FOR ADULTS.

TERESA SUMME/ASTHMA MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

RUNS:

7:23 Most of our patients once they've completed the program, know when they need to go to their physician, but also when they're going to need their steroids, when they need to step up from an inhaled steroid.

MISSING PLANE-PKG

Today left us more confused, frankly.

We began the day with reports in the Wall Street Journal that US security officials had that data that showed that the plane had flown for five hours- four hours after it had dropped off the radar.

And yet at the same time, at a news conference here the Malaysian government, the transport minister and the CEO of Malaysian airlines said that was inaccurate and said that the last time the plane had been heard from was just about one a-m in the morning, directly contradicting the report in the Wall Street Journal.

"Since today's media reports, MAS has asked Rolls Royce and Boeing specifically about the data, as far as Rolls Royce and Boeing are concerned, those reports are inaccurate."

And in the middle of all this is of course are the families, stuck six days in waiting for news.

OVERTIME PAY-PKG

ts signing/obama

PRESIDENT OBAMA…NOW IS ASKING THE LABOR DEPARTMENT TO EXPAND THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES WHO GET OVERTIME PAY…

"They're working harder and harder just to get by -- but it's always at the end of the month real tight."

TWO GROUPS OF WORKERS WOULD BE AFFECTED.

ONE.BASED ON SALARY - MR. OBAMA WANTS OVERTIME FOR THOSE WHO MAKE MORE THAN THE CURRENT THRESHOLD OF $455 A WEEK.

THE OTHER. WORKERS WHO RIGHT NOW ARE "INELIGIBLE" FOR OVERTIME BECAUSE THEY ARE DESIGNATED AS A supervisor. THE OBAMA PLAN WOULD CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF SUPERVISOR.

BUT THESE CHANGES - AND THEIR COSTS - HAVE SOME BUSINESSES BALKING…

ARCHITECTURAL CERAMICS IN VIRGINIA HAS 90 EMPLOYEES. MANAGEMENT SAYS THE NEW MANDATE COULD CRIPPLE THEIR BUSINESS.

"It means renegotiating the salaries for our staff we only have this much

budget money, gonna go this far."

THAT COMPANY IS NOT ALONE.

"I think you'll see a lot of people try and limit overtime as much as possible."

THE CHANGE COULD MAKE UP TO 10-MILLION MORE WORKERS ELIGIBLE FOR TIME-AND-A-HALF PAY …

"We're much wealthier country than we were - but it's not finding its way into the workers' pockets."

SOME STATES ALREADY HAVE HIGHER SALARY THRESHOLDS - NEW YORK SITS AT $600 A WEEK AND CALIFORNIA AT $640. AND THOSE NUMBERS WILL GO UP IN 2016.

IT COULD TAKE MORE THAN A YEAR FOR THE LABOR DEPARTMENT TO PUT A PLAN IN PLACE.
