A FORMER LEE COUNTY EMPLOYEE SAYS HEADS OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICE GAMBLED FIVE MILLION DOLLARS OF TAXPAYER MONEY ON A COMPANY THEY KNEW WOULD FAIL.

LISA WAGNER COMPLAINT-trxTCMON

FORMER LEE COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST LISA WAGNER FIRST FILED A LAWSUIT AGAINST LEE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND NOW ASSISTANT TO THE COUNTY MANAGER GLEN SALYER IN JANUARY.

BUT I GOT MY HANDS ON AN AMENDED COMPLAINT THAT WAS JUST FILED.

IT ADDS MORE DEFENDANTS TO THE CASE AND MAKES SOME SHOCKING ALLEGATIONS. Return to index of stories...

LISA WAGNER COMPLAINT-BNR-PKG

It all started in 2010 when VR Labs was granted 5 million dollars by Commisioners in exchange for jobs, that still don't exist.

When Lisa Wagner started working for the county 2 years later-

she says it all started to unravel.

According to this amended complaint just filed,

assistant to the County Manager Glen Salyer - who worked in a different capacity for the county at the time - brought VR Labs in and researched the company.

the suit says --

"Salyer intentionally provided misinformation in order to have the VR Labs grant approved by the county."

Despite VR Labs problems, Salyer received a promotion and pay raise.

The complaint says that Salyer worked with former VR Labs CEO Jeff Kottkamp, former Lee County Economic Development Director Jim Moore and former EDO Marketing Director Jennifer Berg to attempt to defraud money from taxpayers.

After a 2013 audit showed Berg's husband was paid with county tax dollars to build a web site,

she resigned.

Wagner says Moore then

"permitted Berg to enter the EDO, unescorted and unsupervised, where Berg accessed another employee's computer, accessed and removed documents, directed over 400 email notes to affiliates and associates of the Edo, and removed boxes of paperwork, records and even an original work of art."

"when Wagner approached Moore regarding the issues with Berg, she was informed to 'shut up about it' "

We reached out to Lee County for a response-

County Attorney Richard Wesch told us the county is reviewing the complaint,

"including the new allegations made against certain past and current County employees. We look forward to the opportunity to provide a vigorous defense to these allegations and the vindication of the County and the named individuals that we represent." Return to index of stories...

LISA WAGNER COMPLAINT-TCMON

THE LAWSUIT IS ALSO FILED AGAINST HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR CHRISTINE BRADY,

WHO HEARD WAGNER'S COMPLAINTS.

WAGNER WAS FIRED DESPITE WHAT SHE SAYS WAS AN EXCELLENT REVIEW, ALONG WITH 5 OF THE 6 OTHER PEOPLE TO TESTIFIED IN THAT INTERNAL AUDIT.

3 OF THEM FILED A SEPARATE LAWSUIT 2 WEEKS AGO.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

A chilly morning with temperatures as low as the 40s turns into a mild afternoon for our Friday as temperatures climb all the way into the upper 70s and low 80s.

We'll enjoy an abundance of sunshine through the day, which will help our temperatures rise pretty sharply.

Humidity levels will stay nice and low, and while the winds won't be nearly as strong as yesterday, we'll still have a stiff breeze at times with gusts getting up to 20 mph.

Rain stays out of the forecast today, and we'll keep things dry at least through the end of the weekend.

If you're planning on being out tonight, you'll still need to dress somewhat warm because temps will fall fast beyond sunset. With a clear and quiet sky in place, temperatures will settle into the mid 50s overnight with a couple of our inland cool spots dipping as low as the upper 40s.

We've got another gorgeous weekend on the way with tons of sun and highs in the low to mid 80s.

After a sunny and dry weekend, we'll have some rain and storms to track to start the week on Monday, but the unsettled weather should only last a day or so.

By Tuesday, the forecast looks drier and fairly seasonable with highs around 80, which is where we should stay for the remainder of the week.
