FIVE COLLIER COUNTY MEN -- INVOLVED IN A VIOLENT BRAWL WITH DEPUTIES.

NBC-2 SPOKE EXCLUSLVILY TO ONE OF THE MEN WHO SAYS, IT WAS ALL A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING.

38:05-38:08

"Ya'll got the wrong version saying people beat the cops up, na ah."

TONIGHT -- WE'LL WALK YOU THROUGH WHAT THE SUSPECT SAYS WENT DOWN, WHEN A LOUD NOISE COMPLAINT TURNED DANGEROUS.

As far as an airplane just vanishing or disappearing, we have had elements of that with Air France 447 but this is probably the most bizarre I have seen in my career.

BIZARRE -- INDEED.

BUT TONIGHT -- THE PILOTS ARE IN QUESTION -- ABOUT THE ROLE THEY PLAYED, IN THE PLANE'S DISAPPEARANCE.

AND -- THIS BOSTON RED SOX PLAYER -- ARRESTED, IN LEE COUNTY.

WHY POLICE SAY -- HE ACTED BELLIGERENTLTY TOWARDS THEM.

THE NEWS AT 11 -- STARTS NOW. Return to index of stories...

COLLIER MEN ATTACK DEPUTY-trxPKG

***NAT - ROOSTER CROWING

IT'S QUIET IN THIS IMMOKALEE MOBILE HOME PARK NOW, BUT EARLY FRIDAY MORNING IT WAS A MUCH DIFFERENT STORY.

Raul Pascual/Arrested for Assault Against an Officer:

37:36-37:40

"I guess we were just being too loud. Cause one of these neighbors called the cops."

RAUL PASCUAL SAYS A GROUP OF FRIENDS WERE HAVING A FEW BEERS WHEN THEIR NIGHT WAS INTERUPPTED.

37:44-37:51

"Cops came and started jacking us up and slamming us to the ground and I gotta busted lip because of him."

BUT THAT'S NOT HOW COLLIER COUNTY DEPUTIES SEE IT.

RECORDS SHOW WHEN A DEPUTY GOT TO THE MOBILE HOME PARK FIVE MEN WERE YELLING.

WHEN THE DEPUTY TRIED TO QUIET THEM DOWN - THINGS GOT PHYSICAL. ONE MAN RAN -

THE OTHER FOUR SCREAMED PROFANITIES, THREATENING THE OFFICER.

38:53-38:55

"That's just messed up man."

RAUL - NOW IN HANDCUFFS ADMITS HE KICKED THE OFFICER AGAIN AND AGAIN IN THE CROTCH.

BUT HE SAYS IT WAS IN SELF DEFENSE.

38:27-38:38

"He hit my head. Like, he elbowed me like four or five times even while I was on the ground he was still saying stop resisting."

39:13-39:24

" but he was still like smushing me, hard though. And that's how I think I got a busted lip."

NOT EXACTLY WHAT THIS NEIGHBOR EXPECTED TO SEE IN HIS BACKYARD.

VICTOR ANZUALDA/NEIGHBOR

35:07-35:12

"Yeah, these people don't know how to cooperate. You know when they're drunk, they drink and they need to control their self."

AN OUT OF CONTROL NIGHT, LANDS RAUL AND HIS BUDDIES BEHIND BARS.

POLICE TONIGHT AT THE HOMES OF PILOTS WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY WAS TO FLY FLIGHT 370… SAFELY…

THEY LEFT THE CO-PILOTS HOUSE AFTER AROUND TWO HOURS, APPARENTLY *WITH* TWO FAMILY MEMBERS.

EARLIER THE SAME DETECTIVES LEFT THE PILOTS HOUSE… AFTER REPORTEDLY SPENDING A SIMILAR LENGTH OF TIME SEARCHING HIS HOME.

THE PILOT ZAHARIE SHAH IS IN HIS 50S, HE LIVES IN AN UPSCALE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH A WIFE AND CHILDREN…IN HIS HOME, HE HAS A FLIGHT SIMULATOR.

THE CO-PILOT, FARIK HAMID, 27, LIVES WITH HIS PARENTS BUT IS SAID TO BE ENGAGED.

DETECTIVES WILL HAVE MANY KEY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MEN IN THE COCKPIT…

WHAT MOTIVATION MIGHT THEY HAVE FOR HIJACKING THEIR OWN PLANE?

HAVE EITHER OF THEM BEEN BEHAVING STRANGELY IN RECENT WEEKS?

AND, PERHAPS CRUCIALLY, INVESTIGATORS WILL EXAMINE THE FLIGHT SIMULATOR AT THE PILOT'S HOME TO SEE WHAT KINDS OF FLIGHTS HE HAD BEEN TRYING OUT.

ALL OF THE PASSENGERS AND CREW ON BOARD FLIGHT 370 ARE BEING INVESTIGATED…

…WHILE THEIR DESPERATE FAMILIES WAIT FOR NEWS…

AFTER TODAY I HAVE HIGH HOPES THE GOVERNMENT WILL FIND THE AIRCRAFT SAYS A FATHER WHOSE SON IS ON BOARD…

ONE KEY WILL TO DISCOVERING WHERE THE PLANE IS. MIGHT BE ESTABLISHING WHO WAS FLYING IT AND WHY.

AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE PILOT'S FLIGHT SIMULATOR WAS TAKEN FROM HIS HOUSE BY DETECTIVES.

COULD IT BE CRUCIAL TO THE INVESTIGATION?

FORECAST OPEN-CLIP

FORECAST OPEN

NEW! Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

It's been a warm, sun-splashed Saturday across Southwest Florida with temperatures peaking in the low to mid 80s through the afternoon.

Only a few clouds have dotted the sky, and we'll continue with mainly clear, quiet weather tonight.

Temperatures won't be as cool as last night, but it'll still feel nice and pleasant through the evening and overnight as temps drop to the low to mid 60s by Sunday morning.

The big change we'll notice tomorrow is a wind shift, which will contribute to some warmer temps by Sunday afternoon. A stiff southerly breeze will develop through the day Sunday, and winds may gust up to 20-25 mph by the afternoon.

Also, with the added southerly component to the wind, temps will get a little boost as daytime highs reach the mid 80s for most of Southwest Florida; some of our inland communities may even manage to reach the 86-88 degree range.

Humidity starts increasing tomorrow, but there won't be enough moisture or instability just yet to form any showers.

Our dry weather pattern will likely end on St. Patrick's Day as an area of low pressure develops over the northern Gulf, sending some scattered rain and even a few storms our way. With respect to timing, it's looking more like the bulk of the rain will hold off until late in the day. The timing is still subject to change, so we'll need to track its progress closely this weekend.

It's possible some rain and clouds linger into Tuesday morning, but the rest of the week should be pretty nice and at least partly sunny with highs in the 80s.

Spring officially begins Thursday, and the forecast will follow suit; highs will be in the mid 80s and lows in the 60s.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...
