6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

The final weekend of winter will end up feeling very much like spring across Southwest Florida.

We'll be in store for an abundance of sunshine and plenty of warmth as temperatures soar into the mid 80s both today and Sunday.

Humidity levels will stay nice and low again today but will be on the rise tomorrow as winds become more southerly.

In addition to the wind shift tomorrow, winds become stronger as well with winds gusting up to 20-25 mph during the afternoon, so Sunday won't be as good for the boaters as today.

With the lack of any significant moisture, rain won't be a concern through the weekend, but we may have some green on the radar just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

An area of low pressure will form in the northern Gulf over the weekend and will likely send rain and a few storms our way late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Clouds may be slow to exit Tuesday, but the rest of the week should be nice and at least partly sunny with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Spring officially begins Thursday, and the forecast will follow suit; highs in the mid 80s and lows in the 60s.

Have a great weekend!

6:42 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

"just being out here in nature, not having to hear cars going by."

THE LIFELONG ALVA RESIDENT WATCHED CALOOSAHATCHEE REGIONAL PARK TRANSFORM FROM AN UNOCCUPIED PRESERVE TO 10.7 MILES OF BIKE TRAILS.

IT CAME TO LIFE IN 1999 BECAUSE OF PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BIKING COMMUNITY KNOWN AS FLORIDA MUDCUTTERS AND LEE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION.

sot dave harner, lee co parks and rec

"it wasnt something, an amenity that we were going to provide because of the time, the amount of money and amount of staff we have."

THE AGREEMENT WAS THAT LEE COUNTY WOULD ALLOW THE MUDCUTTERS USE OF THE CONSERVATION 20/20 LAND.

IN RETURN -- THE GROUP WOULD MAINTAIN THE FACILITIES UNDER LEE COUNTY OVERSIGHT.

sot connie

"All of our requests got denied there was one thing that they added that we requested and its already done so now for the next 10 years

there's no improvement out here because the 10 year plan so we have to wait another 10 years? what business runs successfully on a 10 year

plan?"

THE MUDCUTTERS BUILT A NEW TRAIL THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD APPROVAL FOR -- BUT THE COUNTY SAYS THE 10 YEAR PLAN TRUMPS ANY PREVIOUS AGREEMENTS -- FORCING COUNTY STAFF TO BLOCK OFF THAT TRAIL MORE THAN 5 TIMES.

sot dave

if we stick with the management plan they can still expand because there are expansion possibilies in that plan but we cannot at this

point go outsode the management plan because its not only approved by the county, its also approved by the state."

BOTH SIDES SAY THE OTHER HAS REFUSED MEETINGS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES -- LEAVING NATURE'S PATHWAY IN LIMBO.
