5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.AM DOWNPOURS, PM CLEARING

Tuesday morning starts with some heavy downpours moving through Southwest Florida. These won't be around long, though. By late morning the rain will come to and end. There will still be a lot of lingering clouds. Then through the afternoon the cloud cover will be decreasing. The winds will stay rather strong as they come in from the northeast gusting around 20-25 mph. Afternoon highs will reach into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees today. After the morning downpours and the lingering clouds of today, the rest of the week looks pretty good. Starting tomorrow we'll see mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 80s each day. Lows will be near 60 tonight then reach into the low to mid 60s for the next few nights. By this weekend, there are no major changes to that pattern; just the possibility to see a few more clouds. As we look ahead into next week, Monday and Tuesday will bring our next rain chances. Return to index of stories...

IT would not CHANGE ANY OTHER TOBACCO OR NICOTINE-RELATED STATUTES.

THE DEVICES HEAT UP CARTIDGES OF LIQUID NICOTINE, TURNING IT INTO AN ODERLESS VAPOR THAT USERS INHALE. ALSO KNOWN AS 'VAPING'.

MISSING MALAYSIAN PLANE-TC MON, TRX

NOW TO THAT MISSING MALAYSIAN PLANE CARRYING MORE THAN 200 PEOPLE ON BOARD.

THE SEARCH AREA HAS NOW EXPANDED AND THE INVESTIGATION HAS BECOME MORE COMPLEX THIS MORNING.

TAHMAN BRADLEY IS IN WASHINGTON WITH THE LATEST. Return to index of stories...

MISSING MALAYSIAN PLANE-PKG

RIPT:

The search for Flight 370 has expanded to an area roughly the size of Texas.

Planes and ships are scouring the extremely deep and remote southern Indian

ocean.

Officials say this is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

SOT John Young, AMSA

"THE SHEER SIZE OF THE SEARCH AREA POSES A HUGE CHALLENGE. / THERE IS VERY

LITTLE RADAR COVER AND IT'S WIDE OPEN SPACE."

Investigators still don't know what happened to the giant 777 with 239

people souls onboard.

But all signs point to a deliberate act.

SOT Nance

"WITH THE TURNS THIS AIRPLANE MADE, EVEN IF WE DON'T KNOW THE ALTITUDES,

SOMEONE WAS VERY DEFINITELY IN CONTROL OF THIS AIRPLANE AND KNEW WHAT THEY

WERE DOING."

Adding to the mystery, Malaysian authorities have offered contradictory

information on the timeline of events.

One senior US official now tells ABC News the Malaysians are putting out

disinformation designed to keep things secret.

But we do know that investigators have zeroed in on the captain and co-pilot

.

Authorities now say it was the co-pilot who radioed "Alright. Good

night" shortly after takeoff.

Investigators are analyzing his voice for a change in demeanor.

SOT Garrett

"SPEAKING TOO FAST YOUR VOICE GOES UP, YOUR VOICE BOX RESTRICTS WHEN YOU'RE

STRESSED OUT, THINGS OF THAT NATURE."

Hijacking still hasn't been ruled out.

The Chinese say they've checked into the background of all 154 Chinese

passengers onboard have uncovered no links to terrorism. Return to index of stories...

THAT WAS TAHMAN BRADLEY REPORTING.

A SCHOOL IS UNDER FIRE THIS MORNING.

AFTER THEY TOLD A 9 YEAR OLD BOY HE COULDN'T BRING HIS LUNCH SACK TO SCHOOL ANYMORE.

THIS IS NINE YEAR GRAYOSN BRUCE.

HE IS A FAN OF MY LITTLE PONY.

AFTER A SERIES OF BULLYING. HIS SCHOOL TOLD HIM TO STOP BRINGING HIS MY LITTLE PONY LUNCH PACK BECAUSE IT'S A TRIGGER FOR BULLYING.

WHILE GRAYSON WOULD LIKE TO KEEP WEARING HIS BAG SCHOOL OFFICIALS SAY IT CREATES DISRUPTION IN THE CLASSROOM. THEY ARE TAKING IT A LITTLE TO FAR WITH KICKING ME AND PUNCHING ME DOWN CALLING ME HORRIBLE NAMES THINGS THAT shouldn't EVEN HAPPEN

IS SEEING A LUNCH BOX IS A TRIGGER FOR PULLING YOU MIGHT AS WELL SAY A SHORT SKIRT IS A TRIGGER FOR RAPE

IF YOU WATCH THE SHOW IT'S REALLY NOT THAT GIRLY

A 9-year-old boy from North Carolina was bullied - punched, pushed and called names - for bringing a My Little Pony lunch sack to school. The school has responded by telling the boy, Grayson Bruce, to leave the sack at home, calling it a "trigger for bullying."

Grayson says My Little Pony is his favorite cartoon. In a statement, the school said that Grayson's bag "created a disruption in the classroom." The school said they were looking into the conduct of the bullies but have, to date, taken no public action.

Grayson's mom, Noreen, objected to the school's position, telling their local ABC affliate that "saying a lunchbox is a trigger for bullying, is like saying a short skirt is a trigger for rape. It's flawed logic, it doesn't make any sense."

The incident has created a growing grassroots movement online supporting Grayson. Over 15,000 people have joined the "Support For Grayson" Facebook page. Even Glenn Beck showed his support this morning by appearing with a My Little Pony doll on his radio show, telling Grayson "there are jerks everywhere."

This is not the first time that male fans of My Little Pony, called Bronies, have been subject to harassment. In February, an 11-year-old boy tried to commit suicide after experiencing relentless bullying for being a fan of My Little Pony. He faces "potentially life-long brain damage." The Brony community has since raised $73,000 to support the costs of his recovery. Return to index of stories...
