5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"A warm and dry Wednesday"

Now that a cold front has pushed through the area, our days will be sunnier with a warming trend through the week. We'll keep a mainly dry weather pattern in place through the weekend, with increasing rain prospects by early next week.

Our morning will start a bit cooler and less humid, as temperatures have settled into the 50s. Abundant sunshine will fill our skies during the early hours, with a few clouds migrating across the state on a light northeasterly breeze. Daytime highs will be seasonable, as temperatures climb into the lower half of the 80s under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will hold in the upper 70s closer to the coast, due to the afternoon gulf breeze.

Tonight, mostly clear skies will remain in the forecast. It won't be as cool, but still quite comfortable, as temperatures dip into the lower 60s. The cool spots will be mainly north and east of the interstate, with readings in the upper 50s.

High pressure will keep our afternoons mostly to partly sunny, with warming temperatures. Expect early morning temperatures to range from the lower to middle 60s, while daytime highs gradually work their way back into the lower to middle 80s. The weekend is looking warm and dry, with increasing rain chances by early next week as a cold front moves across the peninsula. Return to index of stories...

The situation in Ukraine is making Europe very nervous.

SOT William Hague, British Foreign Secretary

"THE CRISIS IN UKRAINE IS THE MOST SERIOUS TEST OF EUROPEAN SECURITY IN THE

21ST CENTURY SO FAR."

According to news reports, a Ukraine soldier was killed during an attack on

a military base.

It's the first death since Russian troops seized control of Crimea last

month.

In response, Ukraine has authorized its soldiers to shoot back in self

defense.

Nats - celebration

The incident comes as Russians celebrate Vladimir Putin's annexation of

Crimea.

In an emotional speech, Putin lashed out against the United States for

"behaving rudely irresponsibly and unprofessionally" in Ukraine.

The U.S. hit back, calling Putin's moves dangerous.

SOT Kerry

"NOBODY DOUBTS RUSSIA'S INTEREST IN CRIMEA. / BUT THAT DOESN'T LEGITIMIZE

JUST TAKING WHAT YOU WANT BECAUSE YOU WANT IT."

Although Putin claims he will not try to push further into Ukraine, more

nations have announced travel and economic sanctions against Russia,

including Japan and Australia.

Vice President Biden, traveling in Europe, tried to assure U.S. allies.

SOT Biden

"WE'RE EXPLORING A NUMBER OF ADDITIONAL STEPS TO INCREASE THE PACE AND SCOPE

OF OUR MILITARY COOPERATION, INCLUDING ROTATING U-S FORCES TO THE BALTIC

5:32 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL
