GOOD MORNING-2SHOT PUSH

GOOD MORNING --

I'M CHRISTY ANDREWS.

AND I'M CLIFTON FRENCH.

THANKS FOR JOINING US THIS SATURDAY MORNING.

METEOROLOGIST JASON DUNNING IS TRACKING IT FOR US THIS MORNING --

JASON, HOW LONG WILL IT STICK AROUND? Return to index of stories...

6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Our Saturday will feature some unsettled weather as plentiful moisture combines with an approaching cool front to bring showers and storms to Southwest Florida.

The first phase of rain comes early this morning with scattered showers building in from the Gulf of Mexico. After the initial round of rain through the first half of the morning, we'll likely get a break in the activity through midday, but another band of rain and storms will approach by the afternoon and evening.

A few of these storms could produce gusty winds and frequent lightning, but it appears the primary risk for severe weather today will be across Central Florida.

Aside from rain chances around 60%, it's going to be a warm and breezy day with plenty of clouds and limited sunshine. Despite the lack of sunshine, temperatures should have no trouble reaching the low to mid 80s during the day.

Some showers and storms may linger for the first half of the night, and then we'll see gradual clearing from north to south as the cool front clears Southwest Florida.

Sunday should end up being a really nice day with tons of sun, lower humidity and temperatures only in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees during the afternoon.

Winds will be a factor in our weather tomorrow as a stiff northerly breeze gusts up to 20-30 mph.

Sunday night will be the coolest night of the next seven as temperatures drop to the mid 50s under a mostly clear sky.

The rest of our week is shaping up nicely; it'll be very spring like with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid 80s.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...
