AFTER ANOTHER DAY OF SEARCHING FOR THE MISSING MALAYSIA AIRLINES -- NO SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS.

A U-S NAVY PING DETECTOR ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA, FOR CREWS LOOKING FOR THE PLANE'S BLACK BOX.

BUT UNTIL THE SEARCH AREA IS DRASTICALLY NARROWED, THERE'S LITTLE EXPECTATION OF A MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH.

MALAYSIA AIRLINES UPDATE-PKG

THE U.S. PING DETECTOR, THE DEVICE FOR TRYING TO LOCATE THE BLACK BOX, WILL FINALLY LEAVE PERTH ON MONDAY AFTERNOON ON BOARD AN AUSTRALIAN VESSEL, "THE OCEAN SHIELD."

THE U.S. COMMANDER IN CHARGE OF THE PING OPERATION WAS ON HAND HERE IN PERTH TODAY, AND HE HAD SOME GOOD NEWS BUT ALSO SOME NOT SO GOOD NEWS.

THE GOOD NEWS WAS THE PING COULD LAST FOR UP TO 45 DAYS, WHICH MEANS THAT THEY COULD STILL FIND THAT BLACK BOX.

HE ALSO WARNED THAT THIS WAS A VAST AREA THAT THEY WERE LOOKING AT AND THAT IT COULD STILL TAKE YEARS.

"Right now the search area is basically the size of the Indian Ocean, which would take an untenable amount of time to search."

THE SEARCH THIS WEEKEND WAS THE BUSIEST YET, THE GREATEST NUMBER OF ASSETS.

TODAY WE SAW NINE AIRCRAFT AND EIGHT SHIPS IN THE AREA.

THERE WERE MULTIPLE SPOTTINGS OF DEBRIS INCLUDING WHAT WAS DESCRIBED AS FOUR LARGE ORANGE OBJECTS, BUT NOTHING CONFIRMED TO BE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MH 370.

TWO SHIPS, A CHINESE SHIP AND AN AUSTRALIAN SHIP, BOTH PICKED UP OBJECTS FROM THE OCEAN, BUT THEY DIDN'T TURN OUT TO BE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE AIRCRAFT EITHER.

.BUT THEY'LL BE BACK OUT THERE ON MONDAY IN GREATER NUMBERS THAN EVER, GOING BACK TO THE SEARCH AREA WITH A GREATER INTENSITY THAN WE'VE SEEN BEFORE.

Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

We're on track to see a quiet and cool evening across Southwest Florida as we close out the weekend.

Aside from some thin clouds working in from the west through the overnight, our weather will stay quiet and rain free.

Temperatures will become pretty cool overnight into Monday morning with lows dropping into the mid 50s along the coast and as low as the upper 40s for some of our inland cold spots like Arcadia, Palmdale and Moore Haven.

Monday will turn out to be another very nice weather day, but some thin clouds may filter the sun a little at times.

After the cooler start to the morning, daytime highs will rebound into the low 80s by the afternoon.

Our temperatures will become increasingly warmer with each passing day this week; highs should reach the mid 80s Tuesday and Wednesday, and it'll get even warmer for the second half of the week with highs expected to reach the upper 80s.

If you got tired of the cloudy and soggy weather last week, this week will be much drier and sunnier. In fact, rain chances should stay very low all week and into the upcoming weekend.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

THE PUSH IS ON TODAY TO GET AMERICANS SIGNED UP FOR OBAMACARE BEFORE TOMORROW NIGHT'S DEADLINE.

WITH OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR OBAMACARE NOW DOWN TO ITS FINAL HOURS.

SIGN-UP CENTERS AROUND THE COUNTRY ARE SEEING A LAST-MINUTE SURGE.

Janice Evans, Signed up for Insurance

"I think I put off coming just because I didn't know how easy it would be.

/flash/

and I actually found a plan that I can afford."

Leonard Stern / Future Builders

"We've had people with chronic conditions and now they have insurance."

DESPITE A ROUGH START.

SUPPORTERS OF THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT ARE PLEASED WITH THE RESPONSE.

Sen. Angus King / I-Maine

just in the last few days, there were 500,000 people on the call centers on Friday and a million and a half on the website. "

BUT CRITICS STILL QUESTION WHETHER IT'S WORTH THE PRICE.

Sen John Barrasso / R-Wyoming

once this is all said and done what kind of insurance will these people actually have? Will they be able to keep the doctors that they want, and how much more is it going to cost them?

ONE KEY MEASURE OF SUCCESS WILL BE THE NUMBER OF YOUNG, HEALTHY PEOPLE WHO'VE SIGNED UP.

Marshal Lawler/Wesleyan Univ. Sophomore

"The more people we sign up, the more healthy people there are in the exchanges and the more likely that the system as a whole won't collapse."

BUT FOR THOSE WHO'VE BEEN STRUGGLING WITHOUT COVERAGE.

Margarita Merito / signed Up for Insurance

"I have a messed up back and knee and I need insurance to help me out."

MILLIONS OF AMERICANS ARE ABOUT TO FIND OUT WHAT OBAMACARE IS ALL ABOUT.

THE WHITE HOUSE SAYS MORE THAN 2 1/2 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE DIALED THE HEALTHCARE.GOV CALL CENTER IN THE PAST WEEK - MORE THAN THE NUMBER THAT CALLED IN THE WHOLE MONTH OF FEBRUARY.
