WHY THEN -- DID HAYES LEMMERZ DECLARE BANKRUPTCY A SECOND TIME UNDER CLAWSON'S COMMAND -- IN 2009?

FEWER AMERICANS BOUGHT CARS -- IMPACTING THE WHEEL MAKER.

WESH 2'S MARINA MORECO REPORTS HOW THE WORKER WAS ABLE TO FIGHT HIM OFF AND GIVE A DESCRIPTION THAT COULD BE CRUCIAL IN MAKING AN ARREST. ACCORDING TO OUR SOURCES, THAT MAN CONFRONT THE WOMAN WITH A KNIFE AND HE ACTUALLY WAS ABLE TO SCRATCH HER CHEST WITH THAT KNIFE. SHE ULTIMATELY DID GET AWAY AND CALLED FOR HELP. A VIOLENT ATTACK REPORTED LAST FRIDAY INSIDE ONE OF THE ROOMS AT THE ART OF ANIMATION STUDIOS FAMILY SUITES HAS PROMPTED A FULL ON SEARCH FOR THIS MAN DESCRIBED AS A HISPANIC MAN IN HIS 30s WITH A LARGE MOLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS FACE. HE DID MAKE HIS INTENTIONS CLEAR AND SHE WAS IN FEAR FOR HER SAFETY AND SHE DID SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO FIGHT BACK AND SHE TOOK IT AND, YOU KNOW T WORKED OUT FOR HER. GENERAL MOTORS HEARINGS-PKG

IT'S ROUND TWO ON CAPITOL HILL FOR GENERAL MOTORS CEO MARY BARRA.

Today's GM will do the right thing and this begins with my sincere apologies

to everyone who's been affected by this recall.

TODAY IT WAS SENATORS DEMANDING ANSWERS.WHY DID IT TAKE GM SO LONG TO

ADDRESS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT?

The American public was failed by a corproate culture that chose to conceal

rather than disclose.

SINCE BARRA TOOK OVER GM IN JANUARY. THE AUTOMAKER HAS RECALLED 2.6

MILLION VEHICLES BECAUSE THEIR IGNITION SWITCHES COULD TURN OFF UNEXPECTEDLY

-- SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR POWER AND SAFETY SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE AIR BAG.

RECORDS INDICATE GM KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AS EARLY AS 2001.BUT DIDN'T

ADDRESS IT.

AND COMPANY ENGINEERS PROPOSED SOLUTIONS IN 2005BUT GM SAID NONE WERE

ACCEPTABLE.

THE IGNITION SWITCH DEFECT RESULTED IN AT LEAST 13 DEATHS.INCLUDING LAURA

CHRISTIAN'S 16-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AMBER MARIE ROSE.

*LAURA CHRISTIAN.

We are the people left behind when a loved one who got into what was

supposed to be a safe car, a GM car, a car that GM knew for years was

dangerous and defective.

GENERAL MOTORS ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT IT'S BROUGHT ON KEN FEINBERG AS A

CONSULTANT.

HE'S A FAMILIAR NAME.HE MANAGED THE COMPENSATION FUNDS FOR VICTIMS OF 9/11,

THE BP OIL SPILL, AND THE BOSTON MARATHON BOMBINGS.

There's no amount of money that can replace my daughter but I do want

Beth Anne Berkhart, Resident "I look for some chaos, I look for some disruption, I look for some tempers to fly."

LAST YEAR, CHARLOTTE COUNTY AGREED TO GAMBLE $250,000 OF TAXPAYER MONEY AND GIVE IT TO FIRST-TIME BOAT RACE ORGANIZERS WITH HOPES IT'LL PAY OFF.

Jennifer Henn, Waitress "I've extended my stay just for the boat races… that's how excited I am about the boat races."

Keyes Almore, Gulf View Grill owner "We found out they were taking the parking lot away… well this idea isn't what it's cracked up to be and it almost seems to be a logistical impossibility."

NOT ONLY WILL ENGLEWOOD BEACH BE CLOSED FOR PARKING… BUT TWO DAYS BEFORE THE RACE EVEN STARTS, BOTH BRIDGES TO MANASOTA KEY WILL BE CLOSED TO NON-RESIDENTS ON THE START OF PALM SUNDAY WEEKEND - WHAT WE'RE TOLD IS THE BUSIEST TIME FOR MANASOTA BUSINESSES.

OTHERS ARE ALSO WORRIED ABOUT HOW FOOD VENDORS COULD POSSIBLY PUT A DAMPER ON TIME WHEN RESTAURANT SEATS ARE USUALLY PACKED WITH PEOPLE.

"I worry not only about what's going to happen to myself and my contemporaries here that are in business, but the people that live there."

Max Schlanak, Englewood "I feel for them a little bit, but it does bring money to the neighborhood."

SHUTTLES WILL TRASPORT PEOPLE BACK AND FORTH FROM MANASOTA TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOCATIONS IN CHARLOTTE COUNTY - WITH THE LAST SHUTTLE LEAVING AROUND 7 P.M.

FROM THE DISTANCE.THESE PELICANS LOOK JUST FINE.

BUT UP CLOSE.IT'S OBVIOUS THEY'RE CRYING OUT FOR HELP.

Joanna Fitzgerald/Conservancy of SWFL/13:01:47 "the numbers don't lie, we were seeing a 1700 percent increase in the number of the birds being injured."

IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE PELICAN INJURIES - NAPLES CITY COUNCIL MADE A BOLD MOVE WEDNESDAY AND BANNED TREBLE HOOKS ALONG THE NAPLES PIER.

Joanna Fitzgerald/12:58:46 "it's a great thing for the welfare of the animals for sure."

THE RULE BANS ANYTHING MORE THAN A *SINGLE* HOOK - SOMETHING THE CONSERVANCY SAYS WILL HELP WITH THE "EXTENT" OF INJURIES.

Joanna Fitzgerald/13:00:01 "it's just that constant, 3 punctures in one that causes so much trauma to the animal."

BUT IT'S A MOVE THAT COMES WITH MUCH CONTROVERSY.

RESIDENTS AND ANGLERS SAY "TREBLE" HOOKS AREN'T THE PROBLEM - IT'S PELICANS SWIMMING RIGHT INTO FISHING LINES.

William Kelly/Naples/13:04:10 "they get intangled in the lines and we can't prevent that."

THEY BELIEVE WEDNESDAY'S ORDINANCE WAS JUST ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS TAKING AWAY FISHING ALONG THE PIER.

William Kelly/13:05:46 "The pier is the only place in swfl where a fisherman can get access to the gulf waters without a boat i do believe in retaining those traditions that made naples the place to come to."
