THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER FOR FRIDAY

Our gorgeous weather will continue today and right on through the weekend. We start with temperatures in the mid 60s this morning and you could see some patchy fog on your morning commute. Then, skies will be mostly sunny this afternoon and high temperatures will warm to the mid 80s. If you are headed to the beach, expect lower 80s as the sea breeze comes in late this afternoon.

The weekend outlook is good with mostly sunny to partly cloudy weather and mid 80's for highs each day.

A strong cold front is predicted to move through Southwest Florida Tuesday and could bring some heavy rain and strong thunderstorms. The forecast models have consistent in showing rain for Tuesday. AND PREVENTED OTHER ATTACKS.

WE MAY SOON KNOW. THE SENATE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE VOTED 11 TO 3 THURSDAY TO GIVE THE PUBLIC A LOOK AT THE SUMMARY OF ITS 62-HUNDRED PAGE REPORT.

California:25-:38

"The results I think were shocking." "It chronicles a stain on our history that must never again be allowed to happen again. This is not what Americans do."

EVEN REPUBLICANS WHO VOTED FOR DISCLOSURE QUESTION WHETHER THE REPORT IS ACCURATE.

THERE ARE NO DIRECT INTERVIEWS WITH THE C-I-A OR ANYONE IN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION.

AND NO REPUBLICANS JOINED THE INVESTIGATION. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS BIASED.

Georgia:53-1:02

"I was never in favor of this report being done, I think it was a waste of time." "The general public can make up their mind about whether or not this was done properly."

THE C-I-A CLAIMS THE COMMITTEE ACCESSED INFORMATION WITHOUT BEING AUTHORIZED.

COMMITTEE CHAIR DIANNE FEINSTEIN ACCUSED THE C-I-A OF SPYING ON ITS INVESTIGATION.

NOW IT'S UP TO PRESIDENT OBAMA HOW SOON THE REPORT GOES PUBLIC.

"He would expect that the actions that are necessary to declassify a document like that be conducted in all due haste."

AN HISTORIC OLD HANGAR AT CAPE CANAVERAL HAS MADE IT TO THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY AND IS EVEN TURNING A PROFIT.

PRIVATE BUSINESS IS NOW TAKING OVER OLD SPACE SHUTTLE FACILITIES AND PUTTING PEOPLE BACK TO WORK.

DAN BILLOW HAS MORE. Return to index of stories...

SPACE COAST REDEVELOPMENT-PKG

KATHRYN LEE ONCE WORKED ON THE SPACE SHUTTLE.

NOW, SHE'S WORKING AT HISTORIC OLD HANGAR N AT THE CAPE FOR PAR SYSTEMS, AN ENGINEERING COMPANY.

OUTSIDE THE HANGAR, THE PAINT MAY BE PEELING, BUT IT'S WHAT'S ON THE INSIDE NOW THAT MATTERS.

PEOPLE HERE ARE AT WORK ON HIGH TECH EQUIPMENT AND NOT NECESSARILY FOR A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM.

NOW THEY'RE WORKING TO MAKE MONEY.

"I'm in a vacuum chamber, they remove the air and they use lasers and sound waves to test stuff like this. This is foam insulation from a space shuttle fuel tank."

AND THAT IS HIGHLY APPLICABLE TO PRIVATE INDUSTRY.

PAR SYSTEMS MAKES EQUIPMENT THAT LOOKS FOR HIDDEN FLAWS IN METALS OR OTHER MATERIAL.

"So, when you go into look at the part you can't see anything on the surface but when you excise the part there's a defect underneath."

FINDING THOSE HIDDEN FLAWS COULD FOR EXAMPLE PREVENT A PLANE CRASH OR MAYBE A BUILDING COLLAPSE.

PAR SYSTEMS MAKES A LOT OF THINGS, BUT WHAT IT'S DOING HERE AT THE CAPE IS ONE STEP TOWARD A RECOVERY FROM THE END OF THE SPACE SHUTTLE ERA.

Robert Salonea, Economic Development Commission spokesman.

"Because of this type of agreement, the first of many to come with KSC, it will open up the space coast more and more to commercial businesses."

AND THE COMPANY IS PRESERVING TALENT AND EXPERIENCE THAT WILL BE NEEDED AGAIN FOR NASA'S PLANNED SUPER ROCKET AND ORION'S SPACECRAFT.

Bob Cabana, Kennedy Space Center director.

"You know you're keeping a core capability alive here at the cape that's critical to our future."

HANGAR N WITH ITS NINE PAR EMPLOYEES, IS ONE OF SEVERAL GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS NOW TRANSITIONING TO THE SPACEPORT OF THE FUTURE. Return to index of stories...

WEATHER-WX WALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

You will want to pay close attention to the forecast as that weather event gets closer. Return to index of stories...

IF YOU'VE EVER FELT THE PAIN OF HAVING YOUR CHILD GET SICK ON A WEEKEND OR AFTER THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE HAS CLOSED- YOU CAN

RELATE TO THE NEXT STORY.

OR IF THEY GET HURT BUT YOU DON'T THINK THEY NEED TO GO TO

THE E-R.

THIS MIGHT BE A HAPPY MEDIUM.

IN TODAYS HEALTH MATTERS AMY OSHIER SHOWS US HOW CONVENIENT CARE CLINICS ARE BEING SET UP FOR KIDS. Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS-PKG

PKG:

AS ANY PARENT OR CAREGIVER KNOWS, IT'S HARD TO GET KIDS ON A

SCHEDULE. IT HOLDS TRUE WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING HURT OR SICK.

WHEN THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE IS CLOSED, THIS MAY BE YOUR DESTINATION

OF CHOICE.

DR. KAREN CALKINS/EMERGENCY MEDICINE

RUNS:

3:10 Scope-wise we do all ages from kids to elderly. We probably have more than 20

exam rooms right now along with three procedure rooms which can really handle quite a

big volume.

JUST ACROSS FROM HEALTHPARK MEDICAL CENTER, SITS THE NEWEST

OF LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM'S CONVENIENT CARE CLINICS- IN THE

DESIGN NOTHING WAS LEFT TO CHANCE.

BRITTANY GARRETT/RN

RUNS:

4:11 This is one of the pediatric rooms….

A KID-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT REFLECTS THE TREND THAT A LOT OF

PEDIATRIC PATIENTS ARE SEEN AS WALK-INS.

BRITTANY GARRETT/RN

RUNS:

4:11 Because they either - they're not quite sick enough to go to the ER but it's a

sick visit and their pediatrician couldn't see them for a few days. So we're the perfect

opportunity to get those kids seen without a huge waiting time.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

Kids are less likely to have chronic health issues, so many of their problems call for

same day care. That includes bumps, cuts and other injuries. Part of the convenience

here, is that they can walk in and get the treatment they need- in one place.

BRITTANY GARRETT/RN

RUNS:

4:56: Down here is for the radiology department- our doctors can make sure nothing is

broken. If things are broken we do have the capabilities here of putting on what's called

hard splint.

IF SOMEONE NEEDS STITCHES, THE CLINIC IS SET UP FOR SUTURING-

SOMETHING MANY DOCTOR'S OFFICES DON'T DO ANYMORE. ADDING ONE

MORE CONVENIENCE FOR PARENTS.

DR. KAREN CALKINS/EMERGENCY MEDICINE

RUNS:

6:48 We're really trying to get people in and out as fast as we can.

OPEN WEEKENDS AND MOST HOLIDAYS- IT'S A ONE-STOP SHOP FOR EVEN

THE YOUNGEST PATIENT. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY
