6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

he warmth stays bottled up over Southwest Florida today as temperatures soar into the upper 80s across much of the region.

We'll keep ample sunshine in the forecast for our Sunday, but some patchy fair-weather clouds will also mix in with the sun through the afternoon.

Even a few spotty showers could pop up during the heat of the day and through the evening, but with rain chances only around 20%, the majority of us will end up staying dry.

Temperatures will get most of our attention today as daytime highs stay roughly five degrees above average; peak temps will range from 85-89 degrees with the coolest temps expected close to the coast.

The warm weather rolls along into Monday with highs back in the upper 80s along with a partly cloudy sky.

We'll bring a rain chance to the forecast Tuesday as a weak cool front gets stretched out over Central and South Florida, There should be enough moisture around to produce some scattered showers Tuesday afternoon, and some of this moisture will linger into Wednesday as well, making for a fairly cloudy day along with a few showers.

Despite having a cool front within close proximity, our temperatures will continue to stay rather warm with highs still in the 80s.

By the end of the week, more sunshine will break through, but we could be dodging a few downpours during the afternoon and evening time frame.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

SPORTS WRAP-PKG

SINCE THEY WON'T BE IN THE PLAYOFFS. TONIGHT WAS YOUR LAST CHANCE THIS SEASON TO SEE THE FLORIDA EVERBLADES.

GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR PLAYING HARD TO THE FINISH AGAINST GREENVILLE.

ALREADY UP 3-1. GEOFF WALKER. WHO HAD THE HAT TRICK FRIDAY NIGHT. SCORES AGAIN ON THE ONE-TIMER. BLADES END THE SEASON AS WINNERS, 6-1.

ONCE UPON A TIME. THERE WAS A 20-YEAR-OLD WHO WON THE MASTERS. AND WENT ONTO A LEGENDARY CAREER.

IF YOU THINK I'M TALKING ABOUT TIGER WOODS. YOU'RE WRONG.

HE WAS 21 WHEN HE WON AT AUGUSTA FOR THE FIRST TIME.

NO. WHAT I SAID COULD BE THE BEGINNING OF A FAIRY TALE CAREER FOR YOUNG JORDAN SPIETH.

HE SHARES THE LEAD AFTER THREE ROUNDS. AND COULD BECOME THE YOUNGEST PLAYER EVER TO DON A GREEN JACKET.

2012 MASTERS CHAMP BUBBA WATSON HAD A NICE LEAD AFTER TWO ROUNDS. FOR AWHILE, HE'D STAY WELL OUT IN FRONT. REACHES THE GREEN WITH A GREAT SECOND SHOT AT THE PAR FIVE SECOND. HE'D EAGLE TO MOVE TO EIGHT UNDER.

BUT WATSON GAVE THREE OF THOSE SHOTS BACK. AND THE YOUNG GUNS MADE THEIR MOVE. JONAS BLIXT. THE BIRDIE AT 16. HE'S TIED FOR THIRD AT FOUR UNDER.

BLIXT IS ONLY 29. BUT SPIETH IS NINE YEARS HIS JUNIOR. ROLLS HOME HIS BIRD AT 15 TO TIE WATSON FOR THE LEAD AT FIVE UNDER.

THAT'S WHERE BOTH LEADERS ENDED THEIR DAY AFTER A SOLID TWO-UNDER ROUND BY THE 20-YEAR-OLD.

SPIETH AND WATSON HAVE LOTS OF BIG NAMES ON THEIR HEELS. INCLUDING MATT KUCHAR, BLIXT, MIGUEL ANGEL JIMENEZ, AND RICKIE FOWLER.

BUT ON SUNDAY. THE 20-YEAR-OLD WILL WAKE UP TO PLAY IN THE FINAL GROUP AT THE MASTERS.

IT'S NOT JUST MASTERS WEEKEND. IT'S SUNSHINE STATE SPRING FOOTBALL GAME WEEKEND.

JAMEIS WINSTON. OUT OF HIS BASEBALL SPIKES. INTO HIS FOOTBALL CLEATS FOR THE F-S-U GARNET AND GOLD GAME.

WINSTON WASN'T GREAT. BUT DID THROW FOR 396 YARDS. THIS COMPLETION TO CHRISTIAN GREEN SET UP A FIELD GOAL FOR A 10-7 GARNET LEAD.

TIME FOR A TOUCHDOWN. HERE YOU GO. TO A DIFFERENT GREENE. RASHAD GREENE.

THE SPELLING IS DIFFERENT, TOO.

WINSTON TOSSED 2 TDS. HIS GARNET TEAM WINS, 31-14.

FLORIDA AND MIAMI HAD THEIR SPRING GAMES, TOO.

JEFF DRISKEL'S BACK FROM A LEG INJURY.

HE THREW A TOUCHDOWN PASS. AS THE ORANGE AND BLUE TEAMS TIED AT 23.

MIAMI'S GAME PITTED THE OFFENSE AGAINST THE DEFENSE BATTLE WITH A SPECIAL SCORING SYSTEM.

SOUTH FORT MYERS GRAD DALLAS CRAWFORD TIED FOR A GAME HIGH WITH FIVE TACKLES AS HIS DEFENSE WINS OVER THE HURRICANES OFFENSE, 61-60.

WE THOUGHT WE'D SEEN THE LAST OF OCHOCINCO ON A FOOTBALL FIELD WHEN HE WAS CUT BY THE MIAMI DOLPHINS.

BUT IT TURNS OUT THE RECEIVER. WHO'S CHANGED HIS NAME BACK TO CHAD JOHNSON. COULD BE HEADING NORTH OF THE BORDER TO PLAY.

JOHNSON WILL WORK OUT FOR THE CANADIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE'S MONTREAL ALOUETTES ON TUESDAY.

NO WORD YET ON IF JOHNSON WILL CHANGE HIS SURNAME TO LABATT OR MOLSON.

LAST YEAR. BULLPEN INJURIES THRUST KOJI UEHARA INTO THE RED SOX CLOSER'S ROLL. WHICH IN TURN HELPED THE SOX WIN A WORLD TITLE.

THIS YEAR. IT'S KOJI WHO'S AILING.

A STIFF RIGHT SHOULDER IS KEEPING HIM OUT OF ACTION. AND HIS RETURN DATE IS UNKNOWN.

UEHARA DOESN'T THINK THE INJURY IS SERIOUS.

WANT SERIOUS? YOU'VE GOT IT. RED SOX/YANKS IN THE BRONX.

NOT A GOOD DAY TO BE JOHN LACKEY. BUT A GREAT DAY TO BE BRIAN MCCANN.

HE HIT TWO HOMERS. BOTH OFF OF LACKEY. AND LACKEY GAVE UP TWO MORE TO GO WITH THEM.

LACKEY GETS TAGGED FOR SIX RUNS AND TEN HITS.

YANKEES WIN, 7-4.

THE RAYS. AHEAD OF BOTH TEAMS IN THE STANDINGS. LOOKING TO STAY IN FIRST PLACE IN THE A-L EAST WITH A WIN AT CINCINNATI.

HERE'S YOUR OFFENSE. JAMES LONEY. SOLO HOMER IN THE SECOND. 1-0 RAYS.

THAT SCORE WOULDN'T CHANGE.

ALEX COBB. STRIKING OUT JAY BRUCE. HE HAD FIVE OF THOSE IN SEVEN SHUTOUT INNINGS.

RAYS WIN, 1-ZIP

JASON BARTLETT IS BACK IN FORT MYERS ON A REHAB ASSIGNMENT. HIS TWINS INFIELD COMPANIONS. GETTING IT DONE AGAINST THE ROYALS SUNDAY. BRIAN DOZIER. FOURTH HOMER OF THE YEAR IN THE FIRST. 1-0 TWINS.

THEN IT'S JOE MAUER'S TURN. THREE-RUN SHOT IN THE SECOND. PART OF A SIX-RUN INNING.

TWINS WIN, 7-1.

6:42 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

The warmth stays bottled up over Southwest Florida today as temperatures soar into the upper 80s across much of the region.
