WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

The warmth stays bottled up over Southwest Florida today as temperatures soar into the upper 80s across much of the region.

We'll keep ample sunshine in the forecast for our Sunday, but some patchy fair-weather clouds will also mix in with the sun through the afternoon.

Even a few spotty showers could pop up during the heat of the day and through the evening, but with rain chances only around 20%, the majority of us will end up staying dry.

Temperatures will get most of our attention today as daytime highs stay roughly five degrees above average; peak temps will range from 85-89 degrees with the coolest temps expected close to the coast.

The warm weather rolls along into Monday with highs back in the upper 80s along with a partly cloudy sky.

We'll bring a rain chance to the forecast Tuesday as a weak cool front gets stretched out over Central and South Florida, There should be enough moisture around to produce some scattered showers Tuesday afternoon, and some of this moisture will linger into Wednesday as well, making for a fairly cloudy day along with a few showers.

Despite having a cool front within close proximity, our temperatures will continue to stay rather warm with highs still in the 80s.

By the end of the week, more sunshine will break through, but we could be dodging a few downpours during the afternoon and evening time frame. Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

HEALTH MATTERS: DODGING BACK PAIN-TRX, VO IN PLASM

SOMETIMES YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT AN MRI TO LEARN WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR SPINE…

INSTEAD YOU COULD JUST LOOK IN A MIRROR.

THE PROBLEM MAY STEM FROM YOUR POOR POSTURE.

AS MANY AS 80% OF AMERICANS WILL VISIT THE DOCTOR COMPLAINING OF BACK PAIN.

IN TODAYS HEALTH MATTERS AMY OSHIER EXPLAINS HOW SOME OF US MAY BE ABLE TO RESHAPE THE FUTURE.

TEASE: POSTURING YOURSELF TO BEAT BACK PAIN- IT ALL STARTS WITH A

GOOD FOUNDATION. COMING UP IN OUR HEALTH MATTERS REPORT Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS: DODGING BACK PAIN-PKG

PKG:

TRICIA FRYE IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WAYS TO BEAT BACK PAIN. HER

LOWER SPINE IS HER TROUBLE-SPOT.

TRICIA FRYE/BACK PAIN SUFFERER

RUNS:

1:34 I would work 12 hour shifts. And you would maybe be lucky if you got off your seat

for half an hour if that, to get up and walk around.

BEING SEDENTARY IS A BIG BACK NO NO. ESPECIALLY WHEN COUPLED WITH

SLUMPING, SLOUCHING AND POOR POSTURE. IF YOUR SPINE COULD TALK- IT

MIGHT ASK FOR A MAKEOVER.

KATH KINROSS/PhD. PHYSICAL THERAPY

RUNS:

1:37 If you've experienced back pain, the first thing you should do is visit your doctor so

you know it's a mechanical problem and not pain coming from within your organs.

KATH KINROSS WORKS WITH SPINE PATIENTS AT THE LEE CENTER FOR

REHABILITATION AND WELLNESS.

KATH KINROSS/PhD. PHYSICAL THERAPY

RUNS:

1:37 Assuming it's a mechanical back pain problem the next best place is a physical

therapist visit because then we can assess which muscles or which joints or what

posture type problems are creating this back pain and then we can design a treatment

plan to treat that.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

Soothing back pain doesn't come easy. You may have to learn how to sit and stand

properly. And practice it enough until it becomes second nature.

KATH KINROSS/PhD. PHYSICAL THERAPY

RUNS:

3:28 For most of us, just correcting of posture can make a huge impact. Just the way we

sit in a chair, the way we unload the dishwasher, the way we do the yard work. I mean

little changes that we make to our lifestyle can take a big impact on back pain.

ADDING EXERCISE PROVIDES EXTRA STRENGTH- AND HELPS YOU HOLD

YOUR BODY IN A STRONG POSITION. IT'S SOMETHING TRICIA WORKS ON.

TRICIA FRYE/BACK PAIN SUFFERER

RUNS:

:16 I do the classes here, stretching, they have a back class. I do the treadmill. 1:11 So

that's a lot of it, strengthening your core.

SO GIVE YOUR BACK A BREAK- AND CREATE HEALTHY HABITS. BEFORE YOU

KNOW IT THEY WILL BECOME THE NEW NORMAL. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH
