FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

!!!!NEED WX ANCHOR CG!!!!!

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Slightly drier today, with rain by the end of the week.

Despite the extra clouds yesterday along with a few rain areas, temperatures managed to reach the middle to upper 80s during the day. We'll get a brief break from the humidity today with daytime highs running a few degrees cooler.

Through the late morning hours expect mostly cloudy skies to hang around the area. We may see a few breaks in the clouds during the day, with a very slight chance for a stray shower mainly across southern Collier county. Now that a weak cold front has pushed to our south, a northeasterly breeze will send in some drier air allowing humidity values to drop through the day. Daytime highs will run a few degrees cooler as they top out in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Through the evening expect the clouds to linger along with mainly dry weather. Temperatures won't be as cool as they settle into the middle 60s area wide.

Winds will turn more easterly on Thursday allowing temperatures to warm into the middle 80s. The stalled out front to our south will return north with moisture moving back into the area. As a result scattered showers will be back in the forecast, especially during the afternoon. Skies will stay pretty cloudy through Friday, as we watch another system approach the Florida peninsula. This will keep rain and a few storms in the forecast on Friday. Afternoon highs will run in the 80s, while lows remain in the 60s. As this system pulls east, forecast models are hinting at a sunnier and drier Easter weekend with highs in the middle to upper 80s. Return to index of stories...

NOW TO A STORY WE CONTINUE TO FOLLOW.

IN FLORIDA, STORIES OF ABUSE AND THE MYSTERY OF DOZENS OF BOYS FOUND BURIED IN UNMARKED GRAVES AT THE ARTHUR G. DOZER SCHOOL FOR BOYS HAVE PUSHED FAMILIES AND STATE OFFICIALS TO LOOK FOR ANSWERS.

Robert Straley: "Then where are they, you know?"

WHEN HE HEARS ABOUT THE DISCOVERIES AT THE OLD DOZIER SCHOOL FOR BOYS.

AND THE GRAVES DUG UP. FORMER RESIDENT ROBERT STRALEY HAS ONE WORD.

"Vindication. Because when we first started out we couldn't get anybody to even believe this story."

RESEARCHERS - AND A U-S SENATOR - ARE STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO BOYS WHO DIED OR DISAPPEARED HERE AT THE SCHOOL IN MARIANNA, FLORIDA FOR SO MANY YEARS. BUT THEY'RE GETTING CLOSER TO FINDING OUT *WHO* IT HAPPENED TO.

"We don't have any thing specific as to cause of death."

THE BOY'S REMAINS WERE FOUND IN A PLAIN PINE BOX.

Florida:46 -:58

"We owe it to the families to get to the bottom of this so they can bring closure on what happened to their loved ones."

PART OF PIECING TOGETHER THIS STORY INVOLVES FINDING FAMILIES OF BOYS WHO WERE THERE. AND GETTING DNA SAMPLES.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE BOYS' WHOSE FAMILIES THEY'RE STILL TRYING TO FIND. LIKE HYLTON FINLEY, WHO DIED IN 1918. HE WAS FROM TAMPA.

OUT AT THE SITE, RESEARCHERS HAVE USED GROUND PENETRATING SONAR BUT THE 1,400 ACRE PROPERTY IS VAST.

"We've been extensive but when you're looking for skeletal remains from children you years ago, you could be next to it and miss it."

SO THERE COULD BE MORE STORIES OUT THERE. FOR FORMER DOZIER BOYS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO LEARN. Return to index of stories...

MISHANDLED MAMMOGRAMS-PKG

You played Russian roulette with the lives of.

RACHEL MICHELLE RAPRAEGER SAT IN FRONT OF JUDGE KATHERINE LUMSDEN AND SEVERAL WOMEN WHO RAPRAEGER TOLD HAD NEGATIVE MAMMOGRAM READINGS, WHEN IN FACT A DOCTOR NEVER READ THE RESULTS.

You could have made a different decision and my family and I would not be.

RAPRAEGER GAVE SHARON HOLMES A FALSE READING IN DECEMBER 2009, TWO MONTHS LATER HOLMES FOUND OUT SHE HAD BREAST CANCER AND IT HAD SPREAD INTO HER LYMPHNODES.

Just letting her know what she had done by not following the rules, or doing her job like she's supposed to be doing.

RAPRAEGER'S ATTORNEY SAYS SHE WAS OVERWORKED AND OVERWHELMED. HE SAID SHE WASN'T SUPERVISED LIKE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AND SHE SAYS A HOSPITAL EMPLOYEE GAVE HER RADIOLOGIST'S PIN NUMBERS.

She just could not keep up with her workload and when faced with that, then she doing what she did, not to make any money but to try to make her hospital employer happy, not realizing what the consequences could be.

RAPRAEGER PLEAD GUILTY TO TEN COUNTS OF RECKLESS CONDUCT AND ONE COUNT OF COMPUTER FORGERY.

LUMSDEN SENTENCED HER TO TWELVE MONTHS PROBATION FOR EACH OF THE TEN COUNTS OF RECKLESS CONDUCT -- AND TEN YEARS TO SERVE UP TO 160 DAYS IN A STATE DETENTION CENTER.

I think it's a fair sentence based on what happened and based on her cooperation in this case.

She's going to be paying a price but even without that, she's very remorseful.

BUT HOLMES ISN'T SATISFIED WITH RAPRAEGER'S PUNISHMENT.

If I'm sentenced living a sentence, of having cancer, then you should live a sentence also behind bars.

SHE SAYS IT TOOK COURAGE TO FACE RAPRAEGER FOR THE FIRST TIME. BUT SHE WANTED HER TO KNOW.

I'm not a name on a piece of paper, I'm a person and I think she will remember me. Return to index of stories...

THEY BELIEVE HE CRAWLED IN THROUGH THE PRIZE DOOR WHICH HAS A SAFETY STOP. THEN SCALED INTO THE PIT. HE WASN'T HURT OR SCARED.

There must have be 25 people surrounding him but he didn't notice anybody he was just inside playing with the stuffed animals.

BUT HOW TO GET HIM OUT?

Who's in charge here. The claw.

EMPLOYEES CALLED THE VENDOR WITH THE KEY TO OPEN THE MACHINE, THEN CALLED POLICE WHEN THEY COULDN'T FIND THE BOY'S MOM.

Saying there was child here with no parent.

JUST ACROSS THE STREET, A MOTHER HAD ALSO CALLED POLICE AROUND 5:30.

SHE HAD RETURNED FROM GOING TO THE BATHROOM TO FIND HER SON MISSING.

So we had officers in the area searching the neighborhood.

THEY FOUND A CUSTOMER FROM THE BOWLING ALLEY LOOKING FOR A MISSING PARENT.

Everything was fine and he got out fine and.

THE TODDLER EVEN GOT TO KEEP ONE HIS NEW STUFFED FRIENDS.

A REMINDER OF HIS UNBELIEVABLE ADVENTURE.

Farewell my friends. I go on to a better place. Return to index of stories...

WEATHER-WX WALL

!!!NEED WX ANCHOR CG!!!

PINK EYE IS COMMON DISORDER IN KIDS. THE TELL-TALE RED EYES, TEARING,

MATTING AND DRAINING IS KNOWN FOR IT'S 'VIRAL' SPREAD THROUGH

CLASSROOMS AND DAYCARES.

DR. PIETRONIRO/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

:54: There's about four main types of conjunctivitis: Viral and that's actually the most

common, there's also bacterial which is also quite common and actually more common in

kids than in adults. There's also allergic conjunctivitis which is not infectious in nature.

And there's something that's termed non-specific conjunctivitis so that could mean maybe

irritation of the eyes from exposure to chemicals.

WHILE SCHOOLS AND CHILDCARE CENTERS ARE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT- THERE IS

A SEASON FOR THIS SICKNESS: ONE OF THEM IS SPRING. FLOWER BLOOMS AND POLLEN

CREATE A PRETTY PICTURE FOR PINKEYE.

DR. PIETRONIRO/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

10:39: Allergic conjunctivitis we often see especially around this time of year. And that's

actually not due to an infection, not due to a virus, not due to bacteria.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

While there are no 'tests' that distinguish between viral and bacterial variations- the

allergic form has a few characteristics that set it apart. The pinkness is still there, but a

noticeable feature is itchiness.

DR. PIETRONIRO/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

11:15 It's more of a watery clear kind of discharge and a lot, a lot of itching. However

the caveat is allergic conjunctivitis could become secondarily infected with a bacterial

conjunctivitis especially if the person suffering from it is rubbing their eyes a lot and their

hands aren't clean.

ANTIBIOTICS AREN'T USED IN CASES OF ALLERGIC PINKEYE. TREATMENT

CONSISTS OF SOOTHING DROPS, WARM COMPRESSES WITH A DOSE OF
