FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Rain and storms move back in for Thursday"

Despite the extra clouds yesterday along with a few rain areas, temperatures managed to reach the middle to upper 80s during the day. We got a brief break from the heat and humidity today with daytime highs running a few degrees cooler.

Through the late afternoon hours, expect variable clouds across the area with a few rays of sunshine breaking through from time to time. Temperatures today stayed rather cool for this time of year as many spots topped out into the upper 70s to right around 80° along with lower humidity. As the day comes to a close, a stray shower or sprinkle is still possible across parts of southern Collier county.

This evening expect the clouds to linger along with mainly dry weather. Temperatures won't be as cool as they settle into the middle 60s area wide.

Winds will turn more easterly on Thursday allowing temperatures to warm into the middle 80s. The stalled out front to our south will return north with moisture moving back into the area. As a result scattered showers and even a few strong storms will be possible especially during the afternoon. Skies will stay pretty cloudy through Friday, as we watch another system approach the Florida peninsula. This will keep rain and a few storms in the forecast on Friday and through early Saturday morning. Afternoon highs will run in the 80s, while lows remain in the 60s. As this system pulls east, forecast models are hinting at a sunnier and drier Easter weekend with highs in the middle to upper 80s. Return to index of stories...

A MASKED MAN ENTERED THIS C-V-S SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH ONE GOAL.

BUT THINGS DIDN'T GO AS PLANNED.

POLICE SAY THE MAN WALKED TO PHARMACY COUNTER --

DEMANDED PILLS -

AND CLAIMED TO HAVE A GUN.

AS THIS IS GOING ON --

A CUSTOMER HEARD THE COMMOTION --

AND LOOKED TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

"I follow him down just to see what's happening, where he takes it."

JAANUS JURISOO KNEW HE HAD TO DO SOMETHING.

"Well, we've all seen in news what can happen if some moron can pull a gun and start shooting and if you can help, why don't you help?"

JURISOO BELIEVED THE MAN ACTUALLY HAD A GUN, UNTIL.

"Now when he's holding this basket, I was like whoa whoa whoa, wait a second. How are you going to hold the basket then the gun? So that's when I went behind him."

AND SAYS HE WENT FOR IT.

"So I was trying to get control of his arm and neck and then I just kicked in his knee and pull him down."

TURNS OUT, THE SUSPECT DIDN'T HAVE A GUN, SO JURISOO HELD HIM IN A CHOKE HOLD FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES UNTIL POLICE ARRIVED.

POLICE ARRESTED 65-YEAR-OLD FREDDIE JOHNSON.

JOHNSON'S ACCUSED OF ROBBING ANOTHER PHARMACY EARLIER THIS YEAR.

"To me, that person's a hero and I've got to commend him for his actions, but not encourage other people to do this because it is dangerous."

JURISOO HAS GONE THROUGH DEFENSE TRAINING, AND DID WHAT HE FELT WAS RIGHT. BUT HE WOULDN'T ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME.
