FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Rain and storms move back in for Thursday"

Despite the extra clouds yesterday along with a few rain areas, temperatures managed to reach the middle to upper 80s during the day. We got a brief break from the heat and humidity today with daytime highs running a few degrees cooler.

Through the late afternoon hours, expect variable clouds across the area with a few rays of sunshine breaking through from time to time. Temperatures today stayed rather cool for this time of year as many spots topped out into the upper 70s to right around 80° along with lower humidity. As the day comes to a close, a stray shower or sprinkle is still possible across parts of southern Collier county.

This evening expect the clouds to linger along with mainly dry weather. Temperatures won't be as cool as they settle into the middle 60s area wide.

Winds will turn more easterly on Thursday allowing temperatures to warm into the middle 80s. The stalled out front to our south will return north with moisture moving back into the area. As a result scattered showers and even a few strong storms will be possible especially during the afternoon. Skies will stay pretty cloudy through Friday, as we watch another system approach the Florida peninsula. This will keep rain and a few storms in the forecast on Friday and through early Saturday morning. Afternoon highs will run in the 80s, while lows remain in the 60s. As this system pulls east, forecast models are hinting at a sunnier and drier Easter weekend with highs in the middle to upper 80s. Return to index of stories...

RED-RIMMED, ITCHY EYES GOT YOU DOWN? IT COULD BE PINKEYE YOU'RE BATTLING, ESPECIALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR.

A COMMON CONDITION IN KIDS- THERE ARE SEVERAL FORMS- WHICH AFFECT PEOPLE OF ALL AGES.

AMY OSHIER REPORTS IN TODAYS HEALTH MATTERS. Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS-PKG

PINK EYE IS COMMON DISORDER IN KIDS. THE TELL-TALE RED EYES, TEARING, MATTING AND DRAINING IS KNOWN FOR IT'S 'VIRAL' SPREAD THROUGH CLASSROOMS AND DAYCARES.

DR. PIETRONIRO/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

:54: There's about four main types of conjunctivitis: Viral and that's actually the most common, there's also bacterial which is also quite common and actually more common in kids than in adults. There's also allergic conjunctivitis which is not infectious in nature. And there's something that's termed non-specific conjunctivitis so that could mean maybe irritation of the eyes from exposure to chemicals.

WHILE SCHOOLS AND CHILDCARE CENTERS ARE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT- THERE IS A SEASON FOR THIS SICKNESS: ONE OF THEM IS SPRING. FLOWER BLOOMS AND POLLEN CREATE A PRETTY PICTURE FOR PINKEYE.

DR. PIETRONIRO/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

10:39: Allergic conjunctivitis we often see especially around this time of year. And that's actually not due to an infection, not due to a virus, not due to bacteria.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

While there are no 'tests' that distinguish between viral and bacterial variations- the allergic form has a few characteristics that set it apart. The pinkness is still there, but a noticeable feature is itchiness.

DR. PIETRONIRO/PEDIATRICIAN

RUNS:

11:15 It's more of a watery clear kind of discharge and a lot, a lot of itching. However the caveat is allergic conjunctivitis could become secondarily infected with a bacterial conjunctivitis especially if the person suffering from it is rubbing their eyes a lot and their hands aren't clean.

ANTIBIOTICS AREN'T USED IN CASES OF ALLERGIC PINKEYE. TREATMENT CONSISTS OF SOOTHING DROPS, WARM COMPRESSES WITH A DOSE OF HAND-WASHING TO STOP THE SPREAD OF GERMS. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...

CONJOINED TWINS-VO IN PLASMA

TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY FOR THE FAMILY OF 9-MONTH-OLD TWINS, WHO WERE BORN JOINED AT THE CHEST.

CONJOINED TWINS-PKG

nats youtube video

To look at them now, you'd never know what Owen and Emmett Ezell have been through.

The 9-month-old twins were born conjoined from their chest to their belly. sharing a liver and intestines.

At just a month old, in a risky operation, a team of surgeons successfully separated the boys in a 9 hour operation that required the touch-and-go separation of a major blood vessel.

And now, for a family that's been through much, the biggest milestone yet: the boys are leaving the hospital.

Jenny and Dave Ezell have been all but LIVING in the neonatal intensive care unit of Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas. even Christmas was there.

It's been emotionally and physically draining they say -- and worth every minute.

The couple has been keeping friends updated through a blog. noting major hurdles the boys have overcome, like when they started breathing on their own.

They're still being fed through tubes in their stomachs. for that reason, their next stop is an inpatient rehab facility.

Even THAT is celebration worthy. and they're planning one here today. For two little boys. it's one GIANT step closer to home.

For Today, Janet Shamlian, NBC News, Houston Return to index of stories...

MORE CONCERNING THOUGH, SHE WORRIES THAT THEY'VE BECOME SO POPULAR, IT COULD ACTUALLY ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO START SMOKING. Return to index of stories...

THIS IS SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF A BURGLAR LURKING AROUND A BABY'S BEDROOM WITH A FLASHLIGHT AT 5:00 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING.

HE EVEN SHINES THE LIGHT ON THE LITTLE BOY WHO WAS SOUNDLY SLEEPING IN HIS CRIB.

IT'S UNCLEAR WHAT HE'S LOOKING FOR, BUT THESE CHILLING IMAGES MADE THE CHILD'S PARENTS SICK TO THEIR STOMACHS.

THIS IS THE LITTLE BOY WHO WAS IN THAT CRIB.

HE'S JUST 2 1/2.

"AS SOON AS I KNOW WE GOT BROKE INTO, I CHECKED ON HIM. I KISS HIM SO HARD. I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE HIM. HE'S OKAY."

THE SCARY PART IS HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW SOMEONE HAD BROKEN INTO THEIR WEST HARRIS COUNTY HOME UNTIL THE NEXT DAY.

HE AND HIS WIFE WERE ASLEEP IN THE MASTER BEDROOM WHEN THE INTRUDER CAME IN THROUGH AN UNLOCKED FRONT WINDOW.

SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS ALL OVER THE HOUSE SHOW THE BURGLAR GOING FROM ROOM TO ROOM LOOKING FOR THINGS TO STEAL.

POLICE SAY HE STOLE A BRIEFCASE AND A WALLET, THEN WENT AND BROKE INTO A HOUSE AROUND THE BLOCK.

WHEN THE BURGLAR LEFT THAT HOUSE, HE LEFT LEE'S ITEMS BEHIND.

WHEN THAT HOMEOWNER WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING, HE FOUND LEE'S BRIEFCASE AND WALLET.

HE CALLED LEE AND SAID CHECK YOUR CAMERAS.

"MY STOMACH WAS TURNING. I WAS REALLY UPSET WHAT HAPPENED."

AND THE BURGLAR IS BOLD. LEE SAYS HE KNEW HE WAS BEING RECORDED.

"HE LOOKED UP AT SOME OF THE CAMERAS AND SAW AND HE MADE SOME STATEMENT THAT I DON'T CARE."

LEE CARES AND SO DO INVESTIGATORS. THEY'RE NOW LOOK FOR HIM. THEY BELIEVE HE'S JUST A TEENAGER. Return to index of stories...
