SHOWERS ARE HEADED OUR WAY.

METEOROLOGIST JASON DUNNING IS TRACKING INCOMING RAIN.

JASON, Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

It's been a quiet week so far on the First Alert LIVE radar, but with plenty of moisture and energy building in the atmosphere today, scattered storms will likely form during the afternoon and evening time frame.

A few of the storm clusters that develop today could be strong and potentially severe with the primary threats beings gusty winds, hail, and frequent lightning.

Today's storms will develop along the sea breeze, which should be positioned along or just east of I-75; however, even coastal locations will be fair game for some stormy weather as a few of the cells drift back toward the coast during the late afternoon.

The strength of today's storms will be dependent on how much sunshine we're able to get today, so if skies stay cloudier than expected, that could greatly diminish today's storm threat.

Also keep in mind today's storms will be scattered in nature, which means not all of us will get hit.

Before the storms start popping this afternoon, expect a partly sunny sky with quite the warm and humid start.

Temperatures will likely top out in the mid 80s this afternoon, but if we get more break in the clouds this afternoon, a few spots could potentially warm into the upper 80s.

Once the storms fade tonight and push off into the Gulf, we'll be in store for another warm and muggy night with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

We've got another rain chance in the forecast for Friday as a disturbance swings in from the Gulf of Mexico, but this probably won't affect Southwest Florida until the night-time hours Friday.

The forecast is looking much quieter and even rather comfortable for Easter weekend. Expect a warm but less humid weekend with highs in the low to mid 80s and overnight lows down to the upper 50s by Easter morning.

We'll enjoy plenty of sun through the weekend with rain chances staying out of our forecast. Return to index of stories...

I don't know what happened yesterday. I just prayed and prayed and prayed and I woke up here.

WHILE THE SUSPECT MAY NOT REMEMBER, WITNESSES TELL US THE HIGH SPEED CHASE THE 34-YEAR-OLD LED POLICE ON IS SOMETHING SHE'LL NEVER FORGET.

She got out of her vehicle, she had her child in her arms, she tripped in the road and fell to the pavement.

COY HOLDING HER 5-YEAR-OLD IN THE BACK SEAT.

Why would you do this to your child?

TAKING OFF FROM INDIANA DURING A SUPERVISED CUSTODY VISIT.

I don't know if anyone knows what the real motivation was, she was under the influence of drugs.

GRANDMA CALLING 9-1-1 SAYING SHE WAS LIKELY HEADED FOR WHITE PIGEON AN M-S-P TROOPER SPOTTING THE STOLE 1992 BUICK PULLING A U-TURN AND PULLING COY OVER.

She started to pull away, trooper barry tried to turn off the car, she sped away.

LEADING THE TROOPER ON A 5 MILE CHASE AT SPEEDS OF 75 MILES AN HOUR.

HOLDING HER DAUGHTER IN HER LAP AND WAVING HER MIDDLE FINGER OUT THE WINDOW.

Constantine police department was able to use stop sticks, deflated two of her tires.

BUT COY STILL DOESN'T STOP.

UNTIL A RIM FALLS FROM THE CAR

Her judgment is pretty impaired as far as that child.

NOW TRYING TO RUN WITH THE LITTLE GIRL IN HER ARMS

It took like four cops, who fought them the whole way

SWEARING AND SCREAMING AS POLICE ARREST HER.

COCAINE IN COY'S SYSTEM --- AND IN THE CAR.

SOMEWHERE INSIDE THIS CAPSIZED FERRY, RESCUERS HOPE TO FIND POCKETS OF AIR, POCKETS OF SURVIVORS.

"It's really difficult to tell what compartments are flooded, which ones aren't. There certainly was enough flooding to make the ship capsize, so it's going to be very difficult to determine where an air pocket might be."

FAMILIES AND CLASSMATES WATCH THE UPDATES AT DANWON HIGH SCHOOL IN ANSAN, SOUTH KOREA.

THEY HOPE -- WITH A RISING DEATH TOLL AND MANY, MANY PEOPLE UNACCOUNTED FOR -- THAT THEIR LOVED ONES WILL BE FOUND ALIVE.

SOME PARENTS ARE FURIOUS OFFICIALS HAVE CALLED THEIR EFFORTS AN "INVESTIGATION" INSTEAD OF A "RESCUE."

"If the government cares for our people, please rescue our families and our children."

OTHERS QUESTION THE EVACUATION -- OR LACK THEREOF, ACCORDING TO SOME PASSENGERS.

"We were told to stay where you are, so we kept staying, but later on, the water level came up."

".so I was staying put. but suddenly the water came up to my face, so I think it was a narrow escape from dying."

NEARLY 500 PEOPLE WERE ON THE FERRY TO JEJU ISLAND WHEN IT CAPSIZED IN THE YELLOW SEA.

BECAUSE THE WATER IS SO COLD, THE CHANCE OF SURVIVAL FOR ANYONE WHO DID NOT FIND AN DRY POCKET INSIDE THE SHIP MAY BE SLIM.

"The ability to survive in those kind of temperatures in hours not days. If they are in the water, I think we have a considerable problem. There's probably not anybody that's still alive. I think the real issue is is there anybody inside the ship trapped in an air pocket."

.AND WITH EACH PASSING MINUTE, THE POSSIBILITY OF MORE RESCUES GETS SMALLER AND SMALLER.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

ARE YOU SNEEZING AND ITCHING MORE THAN USUAL?

SIGNS OF SPRING ARE EVERYWHERE. BUT THAT'S NOT ALWAYS A PLEASANT THING FOR SOME. LIKE PAOLO BISANTE. HE'S ONE OF MANY PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM SEASONAL ALLERGIES.

"a lot of runny nose nasal drip coughing shortness of breath I have a little bit of asthma which makes it so much worse. Its kinda rough."

HIS MOUTH AND THROAT ALSO GOT ITCHY EATING SOME FRESH FRUIT. BUT IT WASN'T UNTIL PAOLO STARTED SEEING DOCTOR MAH-NAHVE SINGLA AT UNION MEMORIAL FOR HIS ALLERGIES. THAT HE FOUND OUT THE TWO ARE RELATED.

"when you're allergic to pollen it's a very specific protein in pollen you're allergic to fruit you're allergic to proteins in the fruit they're related they're very similar chemically we call that cross reactivity if you're allergic to one thing if something very similar you'll react to both."

ITS CALLED ORAL ALLERGY SYNDROME AND DOCTOR SINGLA SAYS NEARLY HALF OF SEASONAL ALLERGY SUFFERERS HAVE IT. THE TYPE OF POLLEN YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO. TREE, GRASS OR RAGWEED. USUALLY DETERMINES WHICH FRUITS YOU'LL REACT TO. BUT ALMOST ANY FRESH FRUIT CAN CAUSE ONE.

LUCKILY ITS USUALLY VERY MILD. MOST PEOPLE CAN EVEN CONTINUE TO EAT THE FRUIT. BUT FOR A FEW REACTIONS CAN BE SERIOUS.

"if you have a worse reaction other than just mouth itching if you get throat itching chest tightness and pressure from the fruit then you really need to talk to your doctor and avoid those foods."

PAOLO HAS BEEN GETTING ALLERGY SHOTS FOR A YEAR NOW. AND SAYS HE FEELS MUCH BETTER. THEY'VE ALLEVIATED HIS SEASONAL ALLERGIES AND HE'S BACK TO EATING THE FRUIT HE LOVES.

"cherries- haven't tried that yet but everything else seems to be going down a lot better i haven't felt that itch in a long time." Return to index of stories...
