THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

INCREASING HEAT AND HUMIDITY

We've seen a mix of sun and clouds through the day today and will continue with a few clouds as we finish out the day and head toward the evening time frame. Expect temperatures in the low to mid 60s into tomorrow morning under mostly clear skies.

For tomorrow we'll continue with that mix of sun and clouds and afternoon high temperatures will reach in to the low to mid 80s. The warming trend will continue through the week and as we head into the weekend.

By the end of the workweek afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s and lows will be in the upper 60s. Winds will also take on more of a southerly component by the end of the week, leading to a noticeable uptick in the humidity levels.

We'll continue with the sun and cloud mix along with plenty of warm humid air in place through the weekend. Return to index of stories...

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

So you might call it a necessary evil. One study found that as many as a third of polyps are missed when people don't adequately prepare for their colonoscopy. The whole point is to be able to spot even the smallest lesions. From 3 millimeters to 1 centimeter in size.

YOU'RE REQUIRED TO FAST THE DAY BEFORE, CONSUMING ONLY LIQUIDS INCLUDING: water, apple juice, ginger ale, jello and clear broth. THE CLEANSE IS EITHER A SERIES OF PILLS- 32 OF THEM TAKEN WITH A LIQUID. OR THE STANDARD LIQUID LAXATIVE.

DR. IRMA CRUZ/GASTROENTEROLOGIST

RUNS:

2:14 There's several type of preparation but they all involve the same idea. Which is to remove the stool from the colon.

THE COLONOSCOPY IS THE ONLY SCREENER THAT CAN PREVENT CANCER, BY ACTUALLY GIVING DOCTORS THE OPPORTUNITY TO DETECT AND REMOVE LESIONS.

DEMO

4:19: Well it all depends on the preparation,- if we're able to take a good look at the colon.

EVEN PATIENTS WHO CHOSE TO UNDERGO A 'VIRTUAL' COLONOSCOPY WHICH USES A CT SCAN TO EXAMINE THE COLON- STILL HAVE TO UNDERGO THE SAME PREP. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

KOREA FERRY-ONCAM

DIVERS CONTINUE TO SCOUR THE WATERS OFF SOUTH KOREA LOOKING FOR MORE VICTIMS FROM A SUNKEN FERRY.

ATLEAST 86 BODIES HAVE BEEN PULLED FROM THE WRECKAGE.

AND TODAY THE PRESIDENT OF SOUTH KOREA HAS SOME HARSH FORTHE CREW OF A NOW-SUNKEN FERRY.

TORY DUNNAN BRINGS US AN UPDATE. Return to index of stories...

KOREA FERRY-PKG

AS THE DAYS PASS, OPTIMISM BEGINS TO WANE.

FAMILIES ANXIOUSLY WAIT, HOPING FOR SURVIVORS. AS MORE BODIES ARE BROUGHT ASHORE.

"The conditions are so bad my heart aches. We're going in thinking there may be survivors. When we have to come back with nothing, we can't even face the families."

DIVERS ARE TURNING THEIR FOCUS TO THE SHIPS' CAFETERIA.

THAT'S WHERE OFFICIALS BELIEVE MOST OF THE STUDENTS WERE WHEN THE SHIP STARTED SINKING.

"We're all volunteers. We're in the same position. We cry every day, and search for the missing people. I cry whenever I think about it."

BUT FOR MANY, THE DIALOGUE NOW SHIFTS FROM HOPE TO ANGER.

STRONG WORDS COMING FROM SOUTH KOREA'S PRESIDENT.

"The actions of the captain and some of the crew are absolutely unacceptable, unforgivable actions that are akin to murder."

THE CAPTAIN IS FACING A SLEW OF CRIMINAL CHARGES, INCLUDING ABANDONING HIS BOAT AND NEGLIGENCE.

FOUR MORE CREW MEMBERS HAVE ALSO BEEN ARRESTED.

NOW INVESTIGATORS ARE WORKING TO FIGURE OUT WHY SO MANY PASSENGERS COULDN'T ESCAPE.

NEWLY RELEASED RADIO TRANSCRIPTS SUGGEST THE FERRY TILTED SO QUICKLY, THAT IT BECAME NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR MANY PASSENGERS TO REACH LIFE BOATS.

I'M TORY DUNNAN REPORTING. Return to index of stories...
