6:02 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

After hitting 90 degrees for the first time this year yesterday , we're in store to see more 90 degree weather in the days ahead for Southwest Florida.

More sultry weather is in the works today as temperatures climb quickly through the morning and afternoon. By noon, most of the area will already be in the mid 80s, and temperatures will keep soaring to around 90 degrees by the mid afternoon.

Coastal zones will manage to stay a touch cooler thanks to developing sea breeze during the afternoon, but temperatures will still be well into the 80s with highs at the beaches around 85 degrees.

The hot spots will be deeper inland for places like Lehigh Acres, Immokalee, LaBelle, and Golden Gate where temperatures will likely peak in the low to even middle 90s.

As our winds start to become more southerly today, you'll notice a slight uptick in humidity, which will make the air feel even hotter.

The added moisture may even help to get a few isolated showers forming by the afternoon and evening, but most of these will stay just to the east of the interstate.

The heat and humidity carry over into the upcoming week, but rain chances continue to stay relatively low; it's possible that few spotty downpours may develop during the heat of the day each afternoon this week, but these will mainly impact our inland areas.

Rain prospects are looking a little higher by the end of the week as a front approaches Southwest Florida by Thursday and Friday.

The front will most likely stall out over South Florida, so don't expect much of a cool down as we approach next weekend.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

6:32 FIRST ALERT FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL
