WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

After hitting 90 degrees for the first time this year yesterday , we're in store to see more 90 degree weather in the days ahead for Southwest Florida.

More sultry weather is in the works today as temperatures climb quickly through the morning and afternoon. By noon, most of the area will already be in the mid 80s, and temperatures will keep soaring to around 90 degrees by the mid afternoon.

Coastal zones will manage to stay a touch cooler thanks to developing sea breeze during the afternoon, but temperatures will still be well into the 80s with highs at the beaches around 85 degrees.

The hot spots will be deeper inland for places like Lehigh Acres, Immokalee, LaBelle, and Golden Gate where temperatures will likely peak in the low to even middle 90s.

As our winds start to become more southerly today, you'll notice a slight uptick in humidity, which will make the air feel even hotter.

The added moisture may even help to get a few isolated showers forming by the afternoon and evening, but most of these will stay just to the east of the interstate.

The heat and humidity carry over into the upcoming week, but rain chances continue to stay relatively low; it's possible that few spotty downpours may develop during the heat of the day each afternoon this week, but these will mainly impact our inland areas.

Rain prospects are looking a little higher by the end of the week as a front approaches Southwest Florida by Thursday and Friday.

The front will most likely stall out over South Florida, so don't expect much of a cool down as we approach next weekend. Return to index of stories...

Say you put something like a carrot in there that hasn't been chewed well, that's going to sit in the stomach a long time until the stomach can grind it down to a liquid.

NERVE DAMAGE FROM ILLNESS OR INJURY IS THE MOST FREQUENT CAUSE. IT IS LINKED TO BOTH DIABETES AND EATING DISORDERS. WITH A CONSTANTLY FULL STOMACH- PATIENTS CAN HAVE MILD TO MAJOR SYMPTOMS.

HELLO AGAIN-PLASMA

WELCOME BACK TO THE SECOND HALF HOUR OF NBC-2 NEWS TODAY.

I'M STACEY DEFFENBAUGH.

SUN AND HEAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S STICKING AROUND FOR THE WORK WEEK AHEAD.

JASON DUNNING IS STANDING BY IN THE WEATHER CENTER FOR WHAT WE CAN EXPECT. Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WX CENTER

UPDATE: Robot sub to extend search area for missing plane; Obama says Malaysia forthcoming

CANBERRA, Australia - Authorities say a robotic submarine scanning the Indian Ocean floor for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet is expected to complete its search of the most likely crash site. With no clue yet found of the missing Boeing 777, the search area will then be extended.

The U.S. Navy's Bluefin 21 has been creating a three-dimensional sonar map of the ocean floor near where signals consistent with airplane black boxes were heard on April 8.

The search area is a circle with a 10-kilometer radius, 4.5 kilometers deep off the Australian coast.

The search coordination center says in a statement the Bluefin 21 is expected to complete the focused underwater search area and continue examining adjacent areas during a mission starting Sunday.

Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, President Barack Obama says the U.S. has found Malaysia's government to be eager for assistance and forthcoming during the search. Obama says he understands the heartache of relatives who want answers.

Obama was speaking at a press conference Sunday after meeting privately with the prime minister. Return to index of stories...
