BREAKING NEWS

LIGHTNING IS REVENTING STUDENTS AT.FROM BEING LET OUT.

LET'S HEAD RIGHT OVER TO METEOROLOGIST ROBERT VAN WINKLE.

"Another hot and humid day"

We managed to climb into the 90s once again yesterday, making that the third day in row so far this spring season. The summer-like heat will continue over the next couple of days, before relief comes in the form of rain by late in the week.

A good amount of sunshine will prevail through the late morning and mid day hours, allowing temperatures to climb quickly into the middle 80s by noon. With high pressure to our east, a southerly flow will pump in more heat and moisture. This combined with the seabreeze will allow for a couple of spotty showers and storms deep inland. Daytime highs will eventually top out near 90° in town, with cooler readings at the beaches and hotter temperatures inland.

A very slight shower chance will continue through the evening hours, and temperatures will begin to settle into the lower 80s by sunset. Due to the extra humidity, temperatures will be slow to fall overnight as they bottom out in the upper 60s to lower 70s area wide.

A slow moving storm system that continues to kick off rounds of severe weather across the south, will push itself down the Florida peninsula in a much weakened state. This will bring us a slight uptick to our rain prospects beginning Wednesday. As steering winds remain from the southwest, expect any rain that develops to sail east of the interstate. As this front drapes itself across the southern half of the state, expect more clouds than sun Friday and Saturday with scattered rain and a few storms. Return to index of stories...

IT'S ALMOST 50-50. NEARLY 50% OF MEN OVER THE AGE OF 50% WILL AT SOME POINT EXPERIENCE LOWER URINARY TRACT SYMPTOMS- ALSO CALLED LUTS.

DR. MEIR DALLER/UROLOGIST

RUNS:

:48 Patients that wake up several times at night, have urgency, frequency…

LUTS IS A COLLECTION OF SYMPTOMS THAT RESULT IN A VOIDING PROBLEM- FALLING INTO THE CATEGORIES OF IRRITATING OR OBSTRUCTIVE. TO HELP PATIENTS, DOCTORS WILL CONDUCT TESTS TO MEASURE FLOW. THE GO-TO TEST USED TO REQUIRE THE INSERTION OF A CATHETER.

DR. MEIR DALLER/UROLOGIST

RUNS:

1:07 The problem with urodynamics on patients is that it's invasive. The patients don't like it, we have difficulty to get the patients to do the procedure.

NOW THERE'S A SIMPLER, LESS INVASIVE WAY TO GET THE SAME BASIC INFORMATION. CALLED THE URO-CUFF, IT IS A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL USED IN THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE. THE PATIENT PUTS ON A PENILE CUFF THAT INFLATES AND DEFLATES SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE COURSE OF A URINATION. SENSORS MEASURE PRESSURE AND FLOW RATE.

DR. MEIR DALLER/UROLOGIST

RUNS:

1:41 It takes about five minutes or so to do the procedure. I get the report right away. 2:30: I tell them the strength of the flow, I tell them whether we're on the right tack, are they getting obstructed, non-obstructed, are they emptying their bladder well.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

An enlarged prostate or BPH is one of the most common causes of LUTS- if men are having problems emptying their bladder, they can expect periodic exams to see how their treatment is working. Because this test is quick and painless, patients are more likely to comply.

DR. MEIR DALLER/UROLOGIST

RUNS:

2:49 I can follow these patients very well. I can see if I'm doing the right thing for them. The medication, or diet modification, or procedure that I've done.

IT ALL BEGINS WITH GETTING A GOOD READ ON THE SITUATION. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
