Very scary.

Crazy.

CYNTHIA SILVA AND HER DAUGHTER, BRITTNEY, DIDN'T HEAR THE EXPLOSION.

I go to the door and this lady walks in and she's got all this skin hanging off of her and she's screaming like, help me - she jumps into the bathtub and turns on the water. And I'm just like, "what are you doing?!!!"

SO WHEN TWO BURN VICTIMS ARRIVED AT THEIR APARTMENT AT 9:30, THEY WERE SHOCKED.

She was just like, help me. That's all she was really saying. Just screaming.

She said something exploded. She said, something exploded. Help me, help me. I need cold water. Something exploded.

And she was like screaming, oh, it hurts, it hurts so bad.

SHERIFFS DEPUTIES SAY THE COUPLE WAS TRYING TO MAKE HASH OIL INSIDE THEIR TENT AT A NEARBY HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT WHEN A BUTANE TANK BLEW UP. DAVE MARCELINO LIVES AT THE ENCAMPMENT AND RUSHED TO POUR WATER ON THE FIRE.

And they was screaming in pain because every time it flashed, different pockets of gas were going off and it burnt them more.

standup - ANOTHER RESIDENT NAMED FRANK SAW THAT THE COUPLE WAS TRAPPED INSIDE, PULLED OUT HIS KNIFE AND CUT THE CANVAS, RESCUING THEM.

DAVE WALKED THE COUPLE A QUARTER OF A MILE UP TO THE FIRST APARTMENT THEY SAW.

Like, her skin was hanging off of her arms. She was like this, you couldn't touch anything, it was so horrible. It was like something out of a horror movie.

I heard that she got third degree burns on 80 percent of her body. Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

It's setting up to be yet another warm and humid afternoon across Southwest Florida, with highs again climbing into the low 90s.

Showers and storms once again will push across parts of the area today, with the best chance for storms along and east of I-75.

The storms will again move in a northeasterly fashion and should gradually diminish later this evening.

For tonight, skies will stay partly to mostly cloudy with lots of humidity in place. There will even be a few showers and storms lingering late into the evening. Lows will again be in the lower 70s.

For Friday, there will be plenty of heat and humidity as afternoon highs reach into the upper 80s. More moisture in the atmosphere will lead to more scattered showers and storms and they will get started around midday to early afternoon.

A storm system on the way Saturday brings more showers and storms across the area through the day. By Sunday, drier air will be moving in and more sunshine will return by the afternoon with lower humidity. Highs will be in the upper 80s through the weekend.

Through the middle of next week, the pattern looks pretty quiet. Highs will stay in the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. Return to index of stories...

KIM SANDS-TROM'S DAUGHTER DIANA WAS 25 AND PREGNANT WHEN SHE WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR A ROUTINE GALL BLADDER SURGERY.

SOT Kim

we were reassured that many of these procedures had been on pregnant women and it was really nothing to worry about

BUT DIANA PICKED UP AN INFECTION CALLED MRSA, RESISTANT TO ANTIBIOTICS. AND DIED JUST A FEW DAYS AFTER SHE GAVE BIRTH.

SOT Kim

That night I went back up to the hospital to hold her baby. I didn't know what else to do with myself.

MRSA KILLS ABOUT 19-THOUSAND AMERICANS A YEAR. THAT'S MORE THAN AIDS.

A REPORT TODAY BY THE U-N'S WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION SAYS SUPERBUGS LIKE MRSA ARE HAVE BECOME SO SERIOUS THAT IT "THREATENS THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF MODERN MEDICINE" PUSHING US TOWARDS A "POST-ANTIBIOTIC ERA."

ANOTHER SUPERBUG. DRUG-RESISTANT TUBERCULOSIS. IT'S NOW FOUND IN 92 COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD.

IT'S AN INTERNATIONAL CALL TO ACTION TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY U-S HEALTH OFFICIALS.

SOT Dr. Steve Solomon

083420 "It now spreads all around the world with the speed of jet travel, If there's a resistant bacteria there, it's here tomorrow."

DOCTORS WARN THAT WE NEED TO BE SMARTER ABOUT HOW antibiotics are prescribed and used.

SOT Dr. James O'Brien

"things like colds don't get better with antibiotics but we're still prescribing and using antibiotics in those patients and it just doesn't provide them with any benefit.

THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION HAS SOME PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS:

-- DON'T PRESSURE YOUR DOCTOR TO PRESCRIBE ANTIBIOTICS

-- IF YOU'RE GIVEN AN ANTIBIOTIC, TAKE AS DIRECTED AND COMPLETE THE ENTIRE COURSE. SO PATRIALLY-TREATED BACTERIA DON'T THRIVE AND SPREAD.

-- AND DON'T TAKE ANYBODY ELSE'S MEDICINE.
