Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

HOT AND HUMID WITH AFTERNOON STORMS

The morning starts with temperatures near 70 degrees around Southwest Florida under partly cloudy skies. We'll see partly cloudy skies through the morning as temperatures heat up through the 70s pretty quickly. Winds from the southeast around 5 - 10 mph will turn onshore this afternoon. As the sea breeze comes in, we'll get the clouds to build and bring some scattered showers and storms. Most of that activity will be near and east of I-75 and will start a bit later this afternoon. Afternoon highs will be near 90 degrees with mid 80s at the beaches.

For tonight, skies will stay partly to mostly cloudy with lots of humidity in place. There will even be a few showers and storms lingering late into the evening. Lows will again be in the lower 70s.

For Friday, there will be plenty of heat and humidity as afternoon highs reach into the upper 80s. More moisture in the atmosphere will lead to more scattered showers and storms and they will get started around midday to early afternoon.

A storm system on the way Saturday brings more showers and storms across the area through the day. By Sunday, drier air will be moving in and more sunshine will return by the afternoon with lower humidity. Highs will be in the upper 80s through the weekend. Through the middle of next week, the pattern looks pretty quiet. Highs will stay in the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. Return to index of stories...
