CAPE OFFICER ARRESTED FOLO-PKG

NBC2 cameras in the courtroom for the first look and listen at the now

former cape cop accused of having sex with a minor.

"Good morning"

The charges against 34 year old Casey Ortiz read out loud

"Sexual assault by a 24 year old of age or older sexual battery on a

victim 16 years of age"

His attorney at his side.

"We're asking the court set a reasonable bond so we can get his

discovery and fight these allegations"

Allegations that according to a police investigation state Ortiz

started up a sexual relationship with a 16 year old back in February.

"He was relived of duty and has been since that time" Coston

Police say Ortiz meet the teen when he responded to a call at the girls home.

Today we spoke exclusively to Cape Coral resident Larry Hoskins who

tells he met Ortiz when he responded to a call at his home.

Hoskins says he was so moved by Ortiz's detail- he wrote a thank you

letter to the department.

"A motivated young man I thought he had the background he had a lot

going for him"

Tonight he says he can't believe the allegations, and wants to wait

before passing judgment.

But says no matter the outcome the damage is done

"Nothing good will come of this I'm afraid and even if he's exonerated

and even if he's found completely innocent of any charges the

community will still have a very bad feeling about it" Return to index of stories...
