FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

A cool front is slowly edging its way down the Florida peninsula this Friday evening, bringing down plenty of clouds along with some scattered showers and storms.

As we work through the evening and overnight, expect the possibility of rain and evening a couple of thunderstorms.

The line of rain and storms will be gradually weaken as it pushes into Southwest Florida tonight, but we'll keep the chance of rain in our forecast through the overnight hours and into our Saturday.

The best chance of rain Saturday will come during the morning and midday time frame, but we should start to dry things out by the late afternoon and evening.

Plan for a mostly cloudy day on Saturday, but even with lots of cloud cover around, temperatures should manage to reach the mid 80s by the middle of the day.

Sunday will be the nicer weekend day with more sunshine and even a refreshing drop in humidity as we get on the north side of the front--where the air is slightly cooler and less humid.

Temperatures will still be rather warm by Sunday afternoon with highs reaching the mid to upper 80s, but keep in mind the air will feel a bit more comfortable as humidity levels take a dip.

Our sky will continue to clear out through the upcoming week, making way for lots of sunshine and some pretty warm temperatures.

Highs for most of next the week will peak in the upper 80s to low 90s, but overnight temperatures will be slightly cooler with lows in the mid 60s for the first half of the week.

Rain chances will stay relatively low next week with no approaching weather systems expected until next weekend. Return to index of stories...

WE HOLD THEM CLOSE. TRUST THEY'LL BE THERE IN TIMES OF NEED.

I rely on my I-pad and my computer for everything that I do.

THEY SIT BY US. NEVER SILENT FOR LONG.

Phones are really a serious necessity in all of our lives - it's 2014.

OUR ELECTRONICS ARE LIKE THE HUMAN BODY.

We need to eat, and sleep, we need water.

THEY HAVE TO RECHARGE.

Some people they will move their beds in their rooms closer to the socket.

TO THE QUESTION OF WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF A BATTERY,

Oh i think it's a fantastic question.'

In terms of best for the device.

STRATEGIES DIFFER.

That way when I wake up and cut it on, it's a fresh start.

I usually plug it in when it's almost dead but not quite dead."

"I would say it's better to let it drain out."

LETTING THE BATTERY DRAIN ALL THE WAY DOWN IS *NOT* THE WAY TO GO.

It makes sense.

MOST DEVICES NOW RUN ON *LITHIUM-BASED BATTERIES. THEY'RE DESIGNED TO CHARGE WHENEVER IT'S CONVENIENT.

Anytime I have the ability to charge it I would charge it at any point.

CHARGING FREQUENTLY WON'T HURT BATTERY LIFE. THERE DOES COME A TIME WHEN EVEN LITHIUM BATTERIES WON'T HOLD A CHARGE.

CHECK OUT THE LIFE-SPAN FOR APPLE PRODUCTS.

AN I-PHONE'S BATTERY SHOULD LAST 500 *FULL* CHARGE CYCLES.

THAT MEANS IF YOU TYPICALLY CHARGE YOUR PHONE WHEN IT'S *HALFWAY DRAINED, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLUG IT IN A THOUSAND TIMES.

I-PODS ARE GOOD FOR 400 CYCLES.

THE BATTERIES IN I-PADS GET A THOUSAND.

Oh that's just a droid.

THIS ANSWER APPLIES FOR MOST ALL SMART-PHONES AND TABLETS.

I generally run my batteries pretty far down before charging.

THERE'S NO NEED TO BE DRAINED. Return to index of stories...

GQ CELL PHONE BATTERIES-PLAS-BNR

BACK WHEN ELECTRONICS USED *NICKEL-BASED BATTERIES -- IT WAS SMART TO LET THE BATTERY DRAIN ALL THE WAY DOWN.

CHARGING FREQUENTLY WOULD REDUCE THE BATTERY'S MEMORY.

LITHIUM BATTERIES WORK DIFFERENTLY THOUGH.
