WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

After a cloudy and stormy Saturday, some very nice changes are in store today in the wake of a passing cool front.

The first change you'll probably notice today is the clouds and rain we had around Saturday are long gone. In its place, we've got clear skies and sunshine this morning, and we'll keep plenty of sunshine around through the afternoon.

Humidity levels are also considerably lower today, making the air feel more refreshing compared to the muggy weather we've had around for the last few days.

Temperatures even started out noticeably cooler this morning, but we'll get pretty warm by the afternoon with so much sunshine in place.

Expect our daytime highs to peak in the mid to upper 80s across Southwest Florida, but after sunset this evening, temperatures will be very comfortable again with overnight lows falling into the lower half of the 60s.

Our sky will continue to stay mainly sunny and quiet through the upcoming week, making way for some really warm temperatures.

Highs for most of next the week will peak in the upper 80s to low 90s with overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Rain chances will stay relatively low next week with no approaching weather systems expected until late next weekend. Return to index of stories...

"How do you have that error? Well a method I came up with is something is wrong with errors, ns error, ns object, ns c which is basically an error code type which is pf error internal server"

Did you get all that? Because NBC 6's Guirola, and most of the rest of us, couldn't. That's why this teenager is going to work for billionaire and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and we're not.

Michael said, "The people at Facebook found out about me and then eventually Mark Zuckerberg found out about me and I was like, "Whoa! This was way too fast.'"

Michael, a child prodigy has conquered coding, a computer language used to build apps and games. It's landed him much success, money, and a future with Facebook. Zuckerberg interviewed Michael at the social media giant's headquarters.

Michael's digital dreams started when he was 13. Since then he's developed 13 apps. And he eventually designed one that would be the jackpot.

Michael said, "Right now it's the number one word game on the U.S. App Store and it's in the top 200 apps in the entire U.S."

Four Snaps is a social picture snapping and guessing game. Even though it's free, it's helped net this Miami teenager hundreds of thousands of dollars.

HELLO AGAIN-GFX TOPS

WELCOME BACK TO THE SECOND HALF HOUR OF NBC-2 NEWS TODAY.

I'M STACEY DEFFENBAUGH.

BEFORE WE GET IN TODAY'S TOP STORIES.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER.

A BIG CHANGE FROM YESTERDAY'S RAINY AND SOGGY WEATHER.

METEOROLOGIST JASON DUNNING HAS THE LATEST ON YOUR FORECAST. Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WX CENTER

HEALTH MATTERS: DISSECTING A STEMI-TRX, VO IN PLAS

HERE'S SOMETHING YOU MAY NOT HAVE HEARD BEFORE.

THERE ARE SEVERAL TYPES OF HEART ATTACKS AND THEY DON'T HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS OR SEVERITY.

MORE THAN A QUARTER-MILLION AMERICANS SUFFER ONE OF THE MOST SERIOUS FORMS EACH YEAR.

AMY OSHIER BREAKS IT DOWN IN OUR HEALTH MATTERS REPORT.

TEASE: RECOGNIZING ONE OF THE MOST SERIOUS FORMS OF HEART ATTACK- IN TODAYS HEALTH MATTERS REPOR Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS: DISSECTING A STEMI-PKG

PKG:

IT IS ONE OF THE DEADLIEST FORMS OF HEART ATTACK- WHAT HEALTH PROFESSIONALS CALL A STEMI. IT STANDS FOR AN ST SEGMENT ELEVATION MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION.

DR. SUBHASH KSHETRAPAL/CARDIOLOGIST

RUNS:

:42: Every heart attack is not ST elevation myocardial. STEMI implies a full thickness heart attack. And most of the time a major blood vessel is closed.

This type of heart attack requires immediate, emergency SURGERY TO restore blood flow. IN LEE COUNTY, EMS WORKERS ARE EQUIPPED TO TRANSMIT AN EKG READING EN ROUTE TO THE ER, SO DOCTORS CAN BE READY AND WAITING.

DR. SUBHASH KSHETRAPAL/CARDIOLOGIST

RUNS:

3:31: Once they have come in here and they are in the hospital and we have monitored their heart rhythm we are immediately able to treat them.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

To re-open the clogged artery, surgeons perform an angioplasty- inserting a catheter into the artery then deploying a balloon to push open the blockage. Many times a stent is put into to keep it open. Nationwide the standard is to get a STEMI patient from door to balloon within 90 minutes.

DR. MURALI MUPPALA/CARDIOLOGIST

RUNS:

3:17 The shorter the time, the better off you are because time is muscle. Every minute counts. A minute delay means more myocardium at risk, the more heart muscle your losing because you're not re-establishing blood flow to that area.

A STEMI HEART ATTACK CARRIES LITTLE WARNING. SYMPTOMS MAY INCLUDE CHEST PAINS, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, NAUSEA, SWEATING OR PALPITATIONS.

DR. SUBHASH KSHETRAPAL/CARDIOLOGIST

RUNS:

1:36 Heart attack is not a common event but as we get older it gets more common and people who have more risk factors are more prone to have myocardial infarction heart attacks.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS TO READ THE WARNING SIGNS AND ALWAYS TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY BY CALLING 911 IF YOU SUSPECT A HEART ATTACK. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...
