22:44:53 I'm carrying a taser. I'm carrying mace and we use and we use the buddy system and make sure we always have somebody with us. 22:44:59

THIS WOMAN, LIKE MANY TO AFRAID TO SHOW THEIR FACE SAY THEY NO LONGER FEEL SAFE LIVING HERE.

22:45:31 It concerns me a lot. I have my daughter. i have my kids over here. We're not getting any protection. Nothings being done about it. 22:45:36

FRIGHTENED AFTER YESTERDAY'S BRUTAL ATTACK, THIS WOMAN IS ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE NUMBER OF BREAKINS IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD.

22:43:47 Actually this area around here is not safe at all. 22:43:50

THIS MAN SAYS SINCE HEARING ABOUT THE ATTACK AGAINST THE YOUNG MOTHER HE'S AFRAID FOR HIS GIRLFRIEND LIVING HERE.

22:43:50 I take her everywhere she goes. She rides with me to and from work. I don't let her walk down the streets by herself. This area is not very much safe. 22:43:59

HE AND MANY OTHERS ARE CALLING FOR AN INCREASED POLICE PRESENCE.

22:44:38 i would prefer to see more police out here. It would be more safe for everybody. Everytime you see a cop you feel kind of safe. 22:44:45

STANDUP: 22:46:47 The Fort Myers Police Department isn't saying much new about the investigation. Lt. Victor Medico insists that police are following up on leads and he says there is an increased police patrol presence. 22:46:59

STAKING OUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD FRIDAY, WE WITNESSED A NUMBER OF PATROL CARS IN THE AREA.

STILL. MOST SAY THEY WON'T SLEEP EASILY UNTIL THE MAN WHO BRUTALLY ATTACKED THE YOUNG WOMAN IS CAUGHT.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SLIGHT RAIN CHANCES FOR MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND

We closed the work week with plenty of heat and humidity, with highs area wide again in the low 90s. It will stay warm this evening, with a few clouds and temps falling into the 80s. Overnight, some light fog may develop inland with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Rain chances will be on the increase starting Saturday. More moisture will work into the region, resulting in more cloud cover. A few very isolated rain showers will be possible in the afternoon as the sea breeze works into the area, but most of the area will stay dry. Highs will be in the low 90s.

Mother's Day will also feature plenty of heat and chance of a few showers. Again, rain chances will be isolated and most of the area will stay dry. Highs for Mom's Day will climb again into the low 90s.

Slight rain chances linger to start next week, with partly cloudy skies Monday and highs in the upper 80s.

Two storm systems will take aim at Florida by Tuesday. These systems will bring a better chance of showers and storms to the area. Right now, the best chance for rain looks to be on Wednesday and possibly into Thursday.

Both systems will slowly exit the area late week, but there is some uncertainty as to whether rain chances will extend into late Thursday and Friday. Return to index of stories...
