-CCSO TELLS ME DISPUTES BETWEEN NEIGHBORS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A PROBLEM

NAPLES TRESPASS ARREST-BNR-PKG

NEIGHBOR VERSUS NEIGHBOR.

Capt. Tim Guerrette/CCSO/23:24:53 "We take all of these incidents seriously."

CONFLICTS THAT CAN TEAR LIVES APART.

Capt. Guerrette/23:24:56 "every situation is independent."

CAPTAIN TIM GUERRETTE SAYS EVERY ARGUMENT HAS ITS OWN ROOT.

AND THE NUMBER ONE THING HOMEOWNERS should do from the start - GET LAW ENFORCEMENT INVOLVED.

Capt. Guerrette/23:24:59 "we try to determine how we can better mediate or mitigate the problem."

BUT EVERY PROBLEM ISN'T BLACK AND WHITE.

Capt. Guerrette/23:25:13 "unfortunately with the laws that we have we can't always solve the problem there."

GUERRETTE SAYS 95% OF THE CALLS ARE USUALLY HANDLED AND DONE WITH.

WHILE THE OTHER 5%.

Capt. Guerrette/23:28:49 "there is a small percentage where the neighbors do get so heated, so frustrated and there is violence."

CAN END WITH CONFRONTATIONS LIKE THIS.

JUST LAST NIGHT - DEPUTIES ARRESTED 34-YEAR-OLD Stacy Scuderi AND CHARGED HER WITH TRESPASSING AND BATTERY.

THIS - AFTER DEPUTIES SAY SHE was TRESPASS ing IN HER NEIGHBOR'S GARAGE.

Angela Sutherland/Naples/23:07:03 "she came towards me in my garage and attacked me in my garage."

A BIZARRE INCIDENT NEIGHBORS CAUGHT THE END OF, ON CAMERA -

John Sutherland/22:51:16 "the minute i saw her on my property i've been instructed by the ccso to take a video of some kind." "this is about one family causing complete and utter havoc."

THE COUPLE SAYS THEY'VE DOCUMENTED EVERY INCIDENT OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS.

ANOTHER SMART THING HOMEOWNERS CAN DO.

Capt. Gurrette/23:27:56 "i know we've communicated with them for several years in this one situation, they have done the right thing as far as giving us a call."

BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY - ALTERCATIONS LIKE THIS - ARE EXACTLY WHAT DEPUTIES ARE TRYING TO AVOID.

Capt. Gurrette/23:28:58 "our goal is to eliminate any type of violence, injury and we don't want to see an outcome that would be negative." Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SLIGHT RAIN CHANCES FOR MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND

We closed the work week with plenty of heat and humidity, with highs area wide again in the low 90s. It will stay warm this evening, with a few clouds and temps falling into the 80s. Overnight, some light fog may develop inland with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Rain chances will be on the increase starting Saturday. More moisture will work into the region, resulting in more cloud cover. A few very isolated rain showers will be possible in the afternoon as the sea breeze works into the area, but most of the area will stay dry. Highs will be in the low 90s.

Mother's Day will also feature plenty of heat and chance of a few showers. Again, rain chances will be isolated and most of the area will stay dry. Highs for Mom's Day will climb again into the low 90s.

Slight rain chances linger to start next week, with partly cloudy skies Monday and highs in the upper 80s.

Two storm systems will take aim at Florida by Tuesday. These systems will bring a better chance of showers and storms to the area. Right now, the best chance for rain looks to be on Wednesday and possibly into Thursday.

Both systems will slowly exit the area late week, but there is some uncertainty as to whether rain chances will extend into late Thursday and Friday. Return to index of stories...

NATS PILLS

IT'S A COMMON STORY --

WHAT'S THOUGHT TO BE A MINOR INJURY, SOME DENTAL WORK, MAYBE EVEN A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL -- LEADS TO AN UNCONTROLLABLE ADDICTION.

03;41;53-42 // "I was in sales, I did very well. You know, normal is the word that comes to mind."

FOR THIS SOUTHWEST FLORIDA MAN -- IT WAS A CAR ACCIDENT.

03;37;22-29 // "Severe face trauma and my femur and hip collided and broke."

NOW 4 MONTHS SOBER -- THIS MAN WHO WISHES TO BE KNOWN AS BOB -- SAYS HIS ADDICTION STARTED WITH PAIN MEDICATION.

HE LIKED THE MEDICINE, LIKED THE HIGH -- AND WHEN HE TRIED TO STOP TAKING THE PRESCRIBED PILLS -- HE HAD EXCRUCIATING WITHDRAWS.

03;39;54-01 // "I got sick, I got super sick, and at that point, I didn't even know about withdraw's, I didn't know what that was about."

GETTING MORE PILLS WAS A CHALLENGE.

"New regulations and laws have made it more difficult for people to get prescription pain killers. Once these prescriptions run out, a lot of people turn to the street."

03;40;07-09 // Bob: "That's what made it very easy to jump to heroin."

TURNS OUT -- BOB IS FAR FROM ALONE.

Alejandro Garcia-Barbon // 07;16;05-16 "We have seen a decrease in pain killer usage transfering into more of a heroin use."

ALEJANDRO GARCIA-BARBON WORKS FOR SALUS CARE; A DRUG REHABILITATION CENTER.

MOST RECENTLY, HEROIN.

21;52;01-06 // "We're seeing it through all facets, not just lower income. It's middle and upper income people."

THAT'S THE FORT MYERS POLICE DEPARTMENT'S UNDERCOVER NARCOTICS SERGEANT.

HE NOTICED THE INCREASE IN HEROIN A YEAR AND A HALF AGO.

53;13-16 /// "It's city wide, it doesn't know one geographic location."

ACCORDING TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, IN 2011 -- THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 922 HEROIN ARRESTS STATE WIDE --

IN 2012 -- IT JUMPED SLIGHTLY TO ONE-THOUSAND-45 --

LAST YEAR -- ONE-THOUSAND-545 ARRESTS - A 50% INCREASE.
