Clouds and some sun will take over for the rest of the afternoon, while temperatures climb into the lower 90s. Just like yesterday, it will be quite humid with an easterly breeze with gusts approaching 20mph. This will not only carry over some extra clouds during the late afternoon, but it will also bring in a few passing downpours from time to time.

Through the evening, expect a few rain areas to move out by the coast and eventually over the Gulf waters tonight. Expect partly cloudy skies during the overnight period, with temperatures by morning in the lower 70s.

We'll be watching a batch of tropical moisture just off to our east and southeast associated with a weak tropical wave. The influx of moisture across Southwest Florida will enhance our rain prospects Wednesday and especially Thursday as it interacts with an approaching cold front. This means rain becomes a bit more widespread across the area. As a result, daytime highs will be held down in the upper 80s. A few showers will linger through early Friday, with clearing skies late in the day. This will give way to a sunnier weekend with lower humidity as overnight temperatures dip into the lower half of the 60s. Afternoons will stay pretty warm though, with temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Return to index of stories...

When it comes to mosquitoes.

Many diseases may come to mind

West Nile, Malaria, and Dengue fever to name a few.

But this mosquito season, a new threat is looming.

It's name Chikungunya.

A virus that health experts say is thriving in the Caribbean.

While its name might imply poultry.this virus aka as CHIKV has

nothing to do with chickens.

The name is derived from the African word meaning "to bend over"

because of the debilitating joint pain the disease can inflict in its

later stages.

In Collier County, Mosquito Control is well aware of the proximity to

the danger, right now the focus is education.

WITH 10-YEAR TREASURY RATES AT 2 POINT 6 PERCENT, AND SAVINGS ACCOUNTS YIELDING AT A HALF PERCENT, INCOME- ORIENTED INVESTORS ARE DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR YIELDS.

FOR MANY, THE SOLUTION IS INVESTING IN HIGH YIELD BONDS.

BUT IS HIGH YIELD BONDS THE BEST PLACE TO PUT YOUR MONEY TODAY?

FINANCIAL ADVISOR JIM NOLTE JOINS US RIGHT NOW. Return to index of stories...

WELLS FARGO-PLAS-(4)CG

· All income investors are searching for yield in today's low interest environment.

· The term "High Yield Bonds" became popular in the late 1970's. By definition a high yield bond has a credit rating below BBB.

· Bonds that have credit ratings of BBB and above are considered "Bank Quality" bonds. In other words, a bank would consider bonds with a BBB rating or above as suitable investments.

· Another term for "High Yield Bond" is "Junk Bond". In the late 1970's, investors were also searching for yields. At that time, Mutual Fund companies felt that funds that offered high yields and invested in lower rated bonds would be a popular.

· They also felt that marketing those funds would be easier if they weren't labeled as JUNK. So the term "High Yield Bond Fund" was born.

· Investors learned several years later that, high yield also means higher risk. The same situation exists today.

· High yield bonds are issued by companies with lower credit ratings. Companies that have lower credit rating pay a higher yield on their bonds, not because they want to, but because they have to.

· And it's not surprising that companies with lower credit ratings pay higher interest on their bonds.

· So, should investors reach for that higher yield?

· I look at High Yield bonds as an asset class which potentially should be part of a diversified and properly allocated portfolio.

· In today's market, high yield bonds aren't really providing a high yield. The average high yield bond today yields a little over 5%.

· To put this in perspective, we can compare high yield bond rates to comparable Treasury securities. High yield rates are about 3.5% above comparable Treasury yields.

· Historically, the spread has been over 4%. So by that measure, High Yield bonds aren't very competitive in today's market.

· The high yield bond market is ruled by supply and demand-just like any other market. And since investors are desperately searching for yield, high yield bond prices have gone up, which results in lower current yield for investors.

· There's another wrinkle to this argument. The high yield bond market is hot right. Companies are racing to issue bonds today, to take advantage of the current low rates.

· To me, that's a dangerous environment for investors. With so much cash chasing bonds, the overall quality is bound to go down.

· Moody's Investor Service predicts that High Yield Bond default rates will increase by 50% in 2015.

· That in itself indicates a flashing yellow light for the high yield bond market.

· So what should investors do? As an asset class, we fell about 2% of a Growth and Income Portfolio should be invested in High Yield bonds at this time. The fact is that this asset class has done very well over the last few years.

· But like Kenny Rogers song-the Gambler-you gotta know when to hold them and when to fold them.

· Personally, I would limit investments in this asset class to well diversified, professionally managed funds.

· In this type of environment, its best to let the professionals do their job. Return to index of stories...

WEALTHY TEXTILE EXECUTIVE.71 YEAR OLD, KEITH CRISCO.

"I'm Keith Crisco and I approved this message.we need a leader with the experience "

THE FORMER NORTH CAROLINA COMMERCE SECRETARY HAD FOUGHT HARD AGAINST AMERICAN IDOL ALUM AND FIRST-TIME CANDIDATE, CLAY AIKEN.

"I think people who get into public service should be doing it to help help people and that's why I'm doing it."

THEIR BATTLE WAS SO INTENSE AND SO CLOSE IT LASTED A WEEK AFTER BALLOTS WERE CAST.

AIKEN WAS AHEAD BY JUST 369 VOTES OUT OF 29-THOUSAND IN THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY FOR NORTH CAROLINA'S SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT.

CRISCO HAD NOT CONCEDED.DECIDING TO WAIT FOR A FINAL COUNT INCLUDING ABSENTEE AND MILITARY BALLOTS.

EXPECTED LATER TODAY.

BUT THEN A SHOCKING END.

"He was a great candidate and I felt like he ran a great campaign. And he'll be missed greatly."

AIKEN EXPRESSED HIS SHOCK IN A WRITTEN STATEMENT:

"I am suspending all campaign activities as we pray for his family and friends."

AIKEN'S CAMPAIGN WEBSITE NOW POSTS ONLY THIS TRIBUTE TO HIS FORMER RIVAL:

"He was a gentleman, a good and honorable man and an extraordinary public servant." Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SCUBA ASSAULT-PKG

This video was taken off the Kona Coast last Thursday.

The dive turned ugly.

When one diver darts over.

And rips off Rene Umberger's breathing supply 50 feet underwater.

The scene was captured on two cameras.

"This man needs to be arrested. I think this man needs to be arrested immediately for attempted murder."

The 53 year old Umberger was eventually able to get her regulator back in.

And breathe again.

That's when she captured the suspect make another threatening gesture.

"I honestly thought he was coming back for a second attack."

Umberger and the others were documenting damage to coral reefs.

When they came across the pair of divers. Who clearly didn't want their picture taken.

She credits her experience. and more than 10,000 dives. With saving her life.

"An inexperienced diver would likely panic. Either panic from the stress of the situation and shoot for the surface. They may panic because their air source is missing and they can't find it, those incidents often lead to death."

She believes she knows who the suspect is.

And wants to press charges.

The State Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement says it is investigating.

And will turn its information over to the County Prosecutors office.

"The greater issue is that Hawaii's reefs are being emptied by these commercial operations."

"Hawaii's reefs are suffering incredibly from this unlimited collection."

And the video shows how aggressive people can be. Return to index of stories...
