5:00 WEATHER LEAD-WXCTR

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

After a stretch of relatively dry weather across Southwest Florida, we're heading into a three-day stretch with increasing rain prospects as tropical moisture surges in from the southeast.

Our Tuesday morning will start of relatively dry and sunny with temperatures warming into the mid to upper 80s by noon.

As we go through the afternoon, isolated showers and even a few heavier downpours will start to develop, riding in with the easterly winds and moving out into the Gulf of Mexico by this evening. The overall coverage of rain should stay pretty isolated, but plan on the possibility of a quickly passing shower during the afternoon.

With our sky expected to stay partly cloudy today, we should get enough sunshine to warm us up into the low 90s. Humidity levels will be pretty high as well, so it'll likely feel a few degrees warmer.

Most of the rain will have moved into the Gulf by tonight, leaving us with a few clouds and another warm and humid evening.

We'll start off our Wednesday with temperatures in the low to mid 70s along with a mix of sun and clouds.

As deeper tropical moisture flows into Southwest Florida tomorrow, we'll likely see an increase in rain chances by Wednesday afternoon, which means we should see a pretty good scattering of showers and storms around Southwest Florida during the peak heating of the day.

Thursday will bring another round of scattered rain as a weak front moves in from the northwest, but the best rain chances will shift deep inland later in the day as an onshore flow develops.

The good news is rain chances will drop dramatically just in time for the upcoming weekend as dry air filters in from the north, bringing us a slight drop in humidity along with sunnier skies. Return to index of stories...

5:30 WEATHER LEAD-WX CTR
