MORE RAIN CHANCES FOR THURSDAY

It was an unsettled Wednesday across much of Southwest Florida, with scattered showers and storms and humid highs in the low 90s. The showers and storms will continue this evening, with temps holding in the 80s. More showers and storms will redevelop later tonight, with lows in the low 70s.

More unsettled weather is expected for Thursday. Expect a soggy morning commute, as showers and storms move ashore from the Gulf. The activity will continue through the daytime hours, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The showers and storms will slowly move eastward late in the day.

Better weather is on the way for Friday. We'll see plenty of sunshine for Friday, low humidity values and highs only in the mid 80s.

The weekend still looks great across the area, with sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. Low humidity will continue, with comfortable highs both days in the mid 80s.

A huge ridge of high pressure will take control of our weather for next week. Expect plenty of sun Monday, with highs in the upper 80s.

DEPUTIES KNEW SOMEONE WAS STEALING FROM THE BOY'S LOCKER ROOM AT NEW SMYRNA HIGH SCHOOL. AS MUCH AS 950 DOLLARS WAS MISSING FROM NINE DIFFERENT STUDENTS. BUT DEPUTIES DIDN'T KNOW WHO THE CULPRIT WAS.

THEY COULDN'T PUT SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS IN A LOCKER ROOM.

"So instead deputies sprinkled money with ultraviolet powder. they put the money in a wallet and gave it to a student to put in his locker. Once the money was stolen. they asked everyone in the class. students and teachers to put their hands under an ultraviolet light."

DEPUTIES SAY IT WAS THE HANDS OF P-E TEACHER RODNEY BARNES THAT LIT UP WITH THE POWDER.

"You wouldn't think that somebody you trust your kid to go to and learn from and be a role model for your son would actually be breaking into lockers and stealing money from our kids."

ACCORDING TO THE ARREST REPORT, BARNES ADMITTED TO TAKING A 50 DOLLAR BILL FROM THE WALLET. AS WELL AS OTHER THEFTS. SAYING HE WOULD "CHECK LOCKERS FOR ANY THAT WERE UNSECURED AND GO THROUGH THE WALLET, LOOKING FOR CASH."

DEPUTIES THOUGH DON'T BELIEVE THE LOCKERS WERE UNLOCKED, SAYING BARNES HAD ACCESS TO A MASTER KEY AND ALL OF THE STUDENTS' LOCKER COMBINATIONS.
